Chapter 41 Distress

The weather was getting colder, and Jiang Cheng stopped following Song Ting up the mountain.

It is cold in the mountains and it is easy for the cold air to penetrate into the body.

Song Tingzhi was worried that Jiang Cheng would catch a cold, so he asked him to stay at home.

He also came back every day. Although sometimes he couldn't catch any prey, it made Jiang Cheng feel at ease.

That day, Xu Sanniang asked Jiang Cheng to take Song Yu to the foot of the mountain to collect some firewood. The rice stalks left over from the autumn harvest were bundled and placed in the backyard.

But it’s always a good idea to have more firewood, as we rely on burning the kang to keep warm in winter.

Jiang Cheng and Song Yu each carried a backpack and walked towards the foot of the mountain. When passing by He Xiaomi's house, Jiang Cheng called He Xiaomi.

He's father has good skills, and with him around, He Xiaomi can work much more easily.

He Xiaomi took a backpack and went out.

The three of them reached the foot of the mountain and started picking up branches not far away.

Song Yu was playful and started playing while picking up the items.

Xu Sanniang asked Jiang Cheng to take Song Yu out because she wanted him to relax. He was forced by Song Tao to learn to read all day long, and Xu Sanniang felt distressed, so she let him go out and play for a while.

Xu Sanniang felt that Song Yu was a young boy who would eventually get married, so it would be enough for him to learn a few words.

But Song Tao doesn't think so. He thinks the young man should learn more and understand more so that he won't be cheated in the future!

Song Qian went through the same thing when she was a child!

Xu Sanniang also felt that what he said made sense, but she just felt sorry for the child!

"Xiaoyu! Don't run too far!"

Jiang Cheng was worried and shouted.

"I know!"

Song Yu had finally gotten out to play, so of course he wanted to have fun.

Song Yu grew up in the village and was more familiar with it than Jiang Cheng. Jiang Cheng just talked to him and continued to collect firewood.

"How's Uncle doing lately?"

Jiang Cheng chatted with Xiaomi while picking up things.

"Every day I eat, go into the house to do some work, help my mother with chores, and bask in the sun when I have free time."

He Xiaomi threw the branches into the backpack.

"That's good too." Jiang Cheng said, "Tingzhi and I delivered the things you asked me to deliver before. He was quite easy to talk to and had a good temper."

Jiang Cheng has a very good impression of Qi Yu.

"As long as he's a good person, it's fine. Once the money is paid back, I'll have nothing to do with him anymore."

He Xiaomi didn't want to care whether the other person was good or not. She just wanted to pay back the money and everything would be fine at home.

"Indeed, but there's no rush. There's still a long way to go, so take your time!"

Jiang Cheng nodded.

“Help!!”

Just as the two were chatting, Jiang Cheng suddenly heard someone shouting for help!

It seems to be Song Yu's voice!!

Jiang Cheng and Xiaomi looked at each other and ran over quickly!

Song Yu felt like he was scared to death. He was having fun in the woods just now, but suddenly he felt something was watching him from behind.

When Song Yu looked back, he met a pair of animal eyes. Although he didn't know what it was, he knew to run!

He quickly ran to the nearest tree, climbed up quickly, hugged the trunk with both hands, and started shouting for help!

Something slowly emerged from the bushes. It was a wild boar with long fangs and panting.

The wild boar stared at Song Yu closely, as if wondering how someone could climb up the tree so quickly!

Before Jiang Cheng ran there, he saw the shadow of the wild boar and Song Yu climbing up the tree.

Jiang Cheng quickly grabbed He Xiaomi and said, "Xiaomi! Go to the village and get help! Go quickly!"

"Then what are you going to do?" He Xiaomi asked.

"I'm fine! Go! Quick!"

Jiang Cheng pushed He Xiaomi and asked him to find someone quickly!

He Xiaomi couldn't argue, so she stomped her feet and quickly ran to the village to find someone!

After He Xiaomi left, Jiang Cheng hid behind a tree. Jiang Cheng looked at Song Yu on the tree and felt very anxious.

Jiang Cheng looked around to see if there was anything useful. He picked up a few stones and threw them over.

“Bang—”

After a few stones were thrown over, the wild boar's gaze moved slightly to that side, but it still did not leave.

Jiang Cheng looked at the wild boar and saw it didn't move. He gritted his teeth and threw a bigger stone at it.

This time the wild boar was lured over and kept sniffing with its nose.

"Xiao Yu! Xiao Yu!" Jiang Cheng called Song Yu in a low voice.

Song Yu was panicking in the tree. Suddenly he heard someone calling him and kept looking around.

After looking around for a long time, he finally met Jiang Cheng's gaze.

Song Yu opened his mouth to shout, but Jiang Cheng gestured to him to be silent.

Song Yu nodded without saying anything.

Jiang Cheng signaled Song Yu to hold on to the tree trunk tightly, and for a moment he had no way to save Song Yu.

I can only delay it for some time.

The wild boar sniffed for a long time but didn't smell anything, so it slowly returned to the tree.

Seeing that Song Yu didn't come down, the wild boar began to circle around the tree trunk.

Jiang Cheng became even more nervous and felt like his heart was about to jump out.

Suddenly, the wild boar rammed its head into the tree, causing it to shake a few times.

Song Yu was so scared that he screamed.

The wild boar shook its head, took a few steps back, and started charging forward again.

After several hits, each one faster than the last, Jiang Cheng felt that the tree trunk was about to collapse.

After running out and shouting, attracting the wild boar's attention, Jiang Cheng didn't have time to think and quickly ran forward!

The wild boar was attracted by the sudden sound and ran to chase Jiang Cheng without paying any attention to Song Yu on the tree.

Jiang Cheng ran forward with all his might, not daring to look back.

He felt the wild boar's breathing getting closer and closer to him, but he couldn't look back, for fear that the wild boar would catch up with him in the next second.

Jiang Cheng could only be thankful that he had been well taken care of at the Song family over the past few months, otherwise he would have been caught up by the wild boar long ago.

But strength eventually runs out, and Jiang Cheng ran slower and slower.

Jiang Cheng could already feel the wild boar was right behind him!!

Suddenly, Jiang Cheng tripped and fell to the ground.

Jiang Cheng didn't have time to cry out in pain, he turned around and kept backing away.

The wild boar grunted as it moved forward step by step.

Seeing this, Jiang Cheng could only keep backing away and picked up anything that was handy to throw at him.

The wild boar lost its patience after being hit, and was ready to rush forward, panting!

Jiang Cheng retreated under the tree trunk. There was really no place left, so he could only leave it to fate!

Close your eyes and wait!

Jiang Cheng shrank his body and pricked up his ears to listen to the movement!

Suddenly, Jiang Cheng felt something splashed on his face. Jiang Cheng touched his face and slowly opened his eyes.

In Jiang Cheng's eyes, there was a knife stuck in the wild boar's neck. Then Jiang Cheng saw Song Tingzhi pull out the knife and hit it a few more times.

"Are you okay?"

Song Tingzhi ignored the wild boar and squatted down to wipe the blood off Jiang Cheng's face.

"fine

Before he could finish his words, Jiang Cheng felt that his vision was getting darker and darker, and finally he fell into Song Tingzhi's arms.

Song Tingzhi shouted a few times, and seeing that Jiang Cheng didn't respond, he quickly picked him up and rushed back!

The wild boar was left to Song Qiangnan to deal with, and when Song Tingzhi arrived, he happened to run into him.
