Chapter 9 Care

A ray of sunlight shone into the house, and birds chirped non-stop on the branches outside.

Song Tingzhi opened his eyes in a daze, and just as he was about to move, he felt a stinging pain in his back.

"hiss--"

Song Tingzhi lay on the bed and looked around the room. There were only familiar furnishings, but no familiar people.

“Squeak–”

Song Tingzhi was just about to force himself to get up and take a look when he heard the sound of a wooden door opening.

He first stared at the door and waited for a while but found that no one came in.

“Woo–”

Song Tingzhi's gaze moved downwards, and coincidentally met Xiao Hui's eyes. After the man and the wolf stared at each other for a while, Song Tingzhi shifted his gaze indifferently.

What's so good about a little wolf cub!

"Awoo--Awoo--" Seeing that his gaze had shifted away, Xiao Hui squatted on the ground with his hind legs, sliding his two front paws up and down, and kept calling out with his mouth, as if trying to attract other people's attention.

"Little Gray—"

Jiang Cheng's voice came slowly from the small kitchen along with the sound of light footsteps.

Hearing the noise, Song Tingzhi refocused his attention on the door.

"Shh - keep your voice down." Jiang Cheng saw Xiao Hui's swaying back and forth as he entered the room. He put the things in his hand on the table and bent down to touch its back.

"Woo~"

Xiao Hui felt very comfortable being touched by Jiang Cheng. His two little ears were tucked into the shape of airplane ears and tilted back, but he did not forget to use his eyes to signal his little master to look at the bed.

Jiang Cheng looked at Xiao Hui's shifty movements and couldn't help but look towards the bed.

Jiang Cheng's gaze met Song Tingzhi's smiling eyes.

"Are you awake?!"

Jiang Cheng quickly stood up and walked quickly to the bed, looking at Song Tingzhi in surprise.

Song Tingzhi felt that the view from lying down was not very convenient, and was about to turn around when he was stopped by Jiang Cheng.

"Don't move!" Jiang Cheng panicked when he saw Song Tingzhi's actions, and quickly touched his uninjured part with his hand.

Song Tingzhi felt a slight pain on his back, but didn't want to make Jiang Cheng more worried, so he didn't take any further action. He could only glance up with his eyes squinting.

Seeing that Song Tingzhi had calmed down, Jiang Cheng went to the table and brought the bowl over.

Xiao Hui also followed him step by step.

Jiang Cheng carefully sat down on the bed with the bowl in his hand, thinking about what to do next.

"I'll do it myself!"

Song Tingzhi watched Jiang Cheng's series of actions and seemed to know what he was thinking. Not wanting to embarrass Jiang Cheng, he decided to do it himself.

"Lie down! I'll do it!"

Seeing that Song Tingzhi wanted to move again, Jiang Cheng gently hit him with his hand.

"Your wound has just been bandaged. Don't move around. It will heal faster!"

"I got up this morning and cooked some porridge. Let's eat something light first. I'll make you some chicken soup later to nourish you."

Jiang Cheng used a spoon to scoop up the porridge and pour it back again, back and forth several times. When he felt that the porridge in the bowl was not so hot anymore, he scooped some and slowly handed it to Song Tingzhi's mouth.

Looking at the spoon at his mouth, Song Tingzhi opened his mouth and ate it.

I fed him porridge spoonful by spoonful, and soon half a bowl of porridge was gone.

Seeing that the porridge was gone, Jiang Cheng put the bowl beside the bed and looked at the wound on Song Tingzhi's back, with worry clearly visible in his eyes.

"It's okay, don't worry, these are just minor injuries." Seeing that Jiang Cheng's face was not very good, Song Tingzhi comforted him.

"It's just a minor injury!" Jiang Cheng retorted subconsciously.

"No, we still have to go to the town's clinic to get some medicine. What if the wound becomes ulcerated?"

As Jiang Cheng spoke, he thought of what happened last night.

Song Tingzhi suddenly fell down while speaking, almost frightening Jiang Cheng to death.

Following the candlelight, Jiang Cheng saw Song Tingzhi's increasingly pale face and the blood on his back, and quickly turned him over.

Only after turning over did Jiang Cheng fully understand Song Tingzhi's true condition. Three bloody marks were clearly visible on his dark grey clothes.

Seeing this, Jiang Cheng could only take a pair of scissors to cut the clothes open, and then brought a basin of warm water to gently wipe the wound, warming up the clothes that were already stuck with blood and flesh to make it easier to tear them off.

Jiang Cheng was very careful when tearing it, for fear of hurting Song Tingzhi.

Suddenly, Song Tingzhi's body shook unconsciously, and Jiang Cheng was startled.

Jiang Cheng's eyes suddenly turned red. He suffered such a serious injury, but he still said that he was fine. He really deserved it!

After escaping from home, he came here by accident and spent more than half a month with Song Tingzhi.

During their time together, Jiang Cheng only felt that rumors were scary. All the rumors in the village that were bad for Song Tingzhi were false and nonsense!

Ever since his mother left and his father married Shen, he hadn't had a single day of freedom. Only after leaving that home did he feel a sense of relief.

It was Song Tingzhi who gave him warmth and a home!

He doesn't want anything to happen to him!

Jiang Cheng wiped away his tears and continued with the work in his hands.

Fortunately, I had picked some extra herbs before, so I could deal with it easily.

Jiang Cheng crushed the herbs and applied them on Song Tingzhi's wound, then wrapped the wound with a clean cloth.

He covered himself with the quilt, took the basin and quietly walked out.

"What's wrong?" Seeing that Jiang Cheng suddenly stopped moving, Song Tingzhi turned around and looked at him.

"Hmm? Nothing."

Jiang Cheng came back to his senses, looked at his face reflected in Song Tingzhi's brown pupils, and smiled.

"Let's go to the clinic!"

"It's okay. There's medicine in that cabinet. I prepared it before."

Song Tingzhi pointed to a cabinet beside the bed.

"Before?"

Jiang Cheng understood what he meant. Before? That meant Song Tingzhi had been injured before!

Jiang Cheng guessed what was going on by looking at Song Tingzhi's evasive eyes.

Jiang Cheng almost laughed out of anger.

So he opened the cabinet with a little temper, took out the medicine bag inside, and went to the kitchen to boil the medicine angrily.

Song Tingzhi looked at Jiang Cheng's back as he left, and could only look at Xiao Hui who was squatting beside him.

Xiao Hui wagged his tail, left the house without any reluctance, and chased Jiang Cheng to the small kitchen.

Seeing that both the man and the wolf ignored him, Song Tingzhi had no choice but to give up.

Who made me the lowest in this family?

In the kitchen, Jiang Cheng opened the medicine bag, poured the medicine into the medicine pot, covered it and started cooking.

Then he went to the yard and took out a pheasant that Song Tingzhi brought back last night, preparing to kill it to feed Song Tingzhi.

“Gugu——”

Half an hour later, Jiang Cheng returned to the kitchen from the yard, rinsed the processed pheasant with water several times, and then heated the pot to cook chicken soup.

During this period, Jiang Cheng also had to pay attention to the status of the medicine pot to prevent the medicine from spilling out.

Xiao Hui was assigned by Jiang Cheng to watch over Song Tingzhi and call out if there was any movement.

Song Tingzhi could only lie stiffly on the bed, watching Jiang Cheng busy in the background through the window from time to time.
