Chapter 3 Meeting

Jiang Cheng was immersed in his own world when he was suddenly startled by the noise outside.

"Who's in there?" A steady voice sounded from outside the room. Jiang Cheng stood up suddenly, picked up the stool beside the bed and held it in front of him.

"Who... who is outside?" Jiang Cheng's voice was trembling. Who would come to the woods at this time? Could it be a bad guy?

Song Tingzhi listened to the clear voice in the room, which was somewhat silent. It sounded like a young man was inside. Thinking of this, Song Tingzhi paused, pushed the door and walked in.

Seeing the door being pushed open from the outside, Jiang Cheng mustered up his courage and threw the stool in his hand towards the door.

As soon as Song Tingzhi entered the door, he felt something coming from the side. He turned around and caught the flying stool and person.

"Ah!" Jiang Cheng didn't expect that not only did he fail to hit the person, but he was also hugged by the lecher.

"Let me go, you hooligan!" Jiang Cheng kept slapping the arms that were hugging him.

Song Tingzhi frowned and did not put him down immediately. Instead, he carried him to the bed and put him down, then quickly lit the candle.

"Who are you? Why are you in my room?" Song Tingzhi sat down and looked at the boy shivering on the bed, and couldn't help but slow down his tone.

"You...your room?" Jiang Cheng's mind went blank for a moment. "I, I..."

"Don't be anxious, take your time." Seeing that the young man was getting more and more nervous, Song Tingzhi couldn't help but comfort him.

"My name is Jiang Cheng, and I'm from Taohua Village. I ran away from home yesterday, got lost, and heard wolves howling. I was scared, and when I saw the wooden house and saw no one was there, I came in and hid." Seeing that the atmosphere was no longer so tense, Jiang Cheng gradually calmed down, sorted out his thoughts, and spoke slowly.

"Taohua Village?" Song Tingzhi tightened his grip on his clothes. "Why did you escape?"

"My stepmother wants to force me to marry for my sister, but I don't want to get married..." Seeing that the other party had no ill intentions, Jiang Cheng didn't know what was going on, so he poured out everything that had happened over the years. He also hoped that there was someone he could talk to, and this person in front of him, whom he had never met before, was the best candidate.

As Song Tingzhi listened to Jiang Cheng's story, his grip on the water cup tightened. Song Tingzhi was naturally strong, and he managed to squeeze the cup until it cracked slightly, and then shattered.

"Are...are you okay?" Jiang Cheng was telling his story when he was awakened by a crisp voice. Upon closer inspection, he found that not only was the cup in Song Tingzhi's hand broken, but his hand was also bleeding.

"It's okay." Song Tingzhi came back to his senses. He didn't expect that he had accidentally crushed the cup.

It must have scared him!

"Let me bandage it for you." Seeing that the man in front of him didn't care at all, Jiang Cheng took the initiative to bandage Song Tingzhi's wound with a piece of rag.

"Thank you." Song Tingzhi felt a slight beating in his heart as he looked at the young man who was bandaging him.

"By the way, I still don't know your name." After bandaging Song Tingzhi, Jiang Cheng returned to the bedside.

Song Tingzhi raised his eyebrows, not knowing how to answer for a moment. Could he say that he was the culprit who made him leave home? But Song Tingzhi didn't want to lie to him. Although he was not well educated, he knew that the beginning of a lie would require countless lies to cover it up.

"My name... is Song Tingzhi."

"It's okay, it's okay if you don't tell me."

Jiang Cheng and Song Tingzhi spoke at the same time. When Jiang Cheng heard Song Tingzhi's answer, he froze in place.

"What's your name?" Jiang Cheng asked again uncertainly. He suspected there was something wrong with his ears.

"Song Tingzhi."

The room fell silent after these words were spoken. Jiang Cheng didn't know what to say for a moment. He hadn't expected the world to be so small. He had already met the protagonist of his own story in the blink of an eye.

"Sister...brother-in-law?" Jiang Cheng's uncertain and somewhat embarrassed voice seemed to be heard in the quiet room.

"I didn't marry Jiang Caiyun." Song Tingzhi felt that he still needed to explain himself.

"No?" Jiang Cheng raised his head in confusion. He had run away. If Jiang Caiyun hadn't married either, could it be that Chen Mei had broken off the engagement?

Song Tingzhi briefly recounted what had happened at the Jiang family's house today. Jiang Cheng became increasingly shocked as he listened. He hadn't expected Shen Mei to fabricate such lies to prevent Jiang Caiyun from marrying him.

What? Jiang Caiyun is sick? Why ask Shen Song to come and share in the good times? Chen Mei has always been one-sided in her support of Shen Song, but Shen Song only comes a few times a year! It's all nonsense!

"How could she do this?" Jiang Cheng couldn't help but stand up for Song Tingzhi, completely forgetting that he almost fell victim to Chen Mei's murder.

"As long as we have the money for my father's medicine, I can persuade them about other things later." Song Tingzhi looked at Jiang Cheng's angry face. His frown and depressed mood, which had been caused by his father's illness, finally improved a little.

"Is uncle's illness better?" As someone who was almost going to marry into the Song family, Jiang Cheng still knew something about the situation.

"Much better."

"That's good."

"Gurgle-Gurgle-" Two sounds of stomach growling rang out in the room, making the atmosphere between the two people much softer.

"are you hungry?"

"Hungry?"

Jiang Cheng and Song Tingzhi spoke at the same time, looked at each other, and laughed.

He looks so nice/handsome when he smiles!

"I hunted a rabbit." Song Tingzhi stood up. The rabbit he had hunted was still lying on the ground outside.

"Then let me do it. I'm the one who cooks at home." Jiang Cheng also stood up with Song Tingzhi and walked out with him.
