The Xia family finally set off after the Mid-Autumn Festival.
There were two families in the village who were determined to move as well and join the Xia family.
The two families, one surnamed Hu and the other surnamed Zhao.
These two families had a good reputation in the village, but because they lived in a distant place, they didn't interact much with the Xia family on a daily basis. The Xia family didn't specifically try to persuade them to move out, as they did with their closer relatives and friends.
But after the incident when Xiao Silu's men "passed by" Beiguan Village for the second time, they dared not stay in Beiguan Village anymore. So they sold their land, bought carriages and horses, and came to greet the Xia family, hoping to travel with them.
The Xia family was worried about their safety on the road, so they would naturally be happy to have someone accompany them.
On August 16th, the Xia family, the Hu family, and the Zhao family, together with all the property they could take away and the young and old in their families, set out on the road to the interior of the country.
All the villagers in Beiguan Village came to see them off.
They also agreed that if the Xia, Hu, and Zhao families were living well in Jixiang County, they would send a message to the folks in Beiguan Village so that they could be happy too.
There is a saying in Beiguan Town, "A poor family may be rich on the road", so when relatives and friends visit you, you have to give them some gifts.
The things the villagers gave were all tangible.
Some gave copper coins, some gave straw sandals, some gave insoles, and most people gave fruits picked from the mountains, vegetables picked from their own gardens, and homemade cakes...
All three families agreed with tears in their eyes, and set off with excitement and complicated feelings, carrying the vegetables and wheat cakes sent by the villagers.
