Chapter 7 Biting Hands

Xia Daohua sighed softly with some melancholy.

She misses the world of her previous life so much!

Although the supermarket had come with her into this world, freeing her from having to worry about food, clothing, and safety, and completely freeing her from all worries; although in this world, she had "stolen" some family members who loved her very much...

However, in this world where everything is unfamiliar, I may be destined to never live the same free and comfortable life as in my previous life.

If I put all my efforts into changing the world from now on, will the world change because of me?

She had read so many wonderful books, learned so much useful knowledge, and seen such a vast world... Was she really going to bury it all? She refused to accept that!

Although she is now just a pitiful little farm girl with a shaved scalp, thick medicinal mud smeared on the back of her head, and no autumn clothes under her cotton-padded jacket, her soul comes from another distant time and space.

From a flourishing civilization.

Is there really nothing she can do?

Xia Daohua has never been someone who gives up easily.

She had thought it through. Although her own strength was insignificant, the power of knowledge and wisdom could be mobilized by far more than just one person.

She didn't know how far she could go or how much she could change this era.

But as long as she tries her best, she will have no regrets.

As for the future, whether the government will cease to exist after her death, and whether all the progress will be wiped out with her departure, that is not her concern.

Truth is infinite, and every inch of progress brings joy. It is enough that she came and brought some benefits to the world.

After figuring this out, Xia Daohua suddenly felt relaxed and became lively and cheerful.

His words and actions are actually a bit like a child.

The New Year is coming soon.

Winter is the off-season for farmers, especially in Beiguan Town. The coldest days can reach temperatures of over 40 degrees Celsius below zero. Not only is the ground frozen solid, but even the walls, doors, and windows are covered in thick frost.

In such weather, the best choice is to hide indoors and spend the winter.

But “hibernating” doesn’t mean doing nothing.

The New Year is coming soon.

Every piece of clothing, thick or thin, and every piece of bedding for the whole family needed to be washed, starched, and mended. The bedding had to be taken apart, washed, the cotton fluffed up, and remade.

After all, you can’t celebrate the New Year with stains!

The house and the yard had to be swept clean. The roof, walls, storage room, and firewood piles that were not usually cleaned had to be swept and tidied up one by one.

In addition, this year was the first New Year after the family split up. The daughters-in-law from each branch were the first to take charge of the household, and they were all secretly competing with each other, trying their best to show off their abilities.

Although Jiang was gentle and docile in nature, she was no exception in this regard.

She was so busy that she had no time to rest. Xia Youtian offered to help her, but she refused. Xia Youtian had no choice but to find work for himself and clean the firewood pile in the fourth room.

Lihua, Wulang, Daohua, and Linghua were also busy running around.

Twelve-year-old Lihua was nimble, diligent, and capable, already capable of doing the work of half an adult. She could even scrub the thick quilt covers on the washboard until they rustled.

The ten-year-old Goro was also steady and reliable. He could quickly clean the ashes in the stove, unclog the grate, and raise the broom high to clean the spider webs in the corners of the roof.

Although eight-year-old Daohua and five-year-old Linghua also joined in the fun, their actions basically only added to the chaos.

While washing dishes, Daohua found the water too cold and she had no detergent. Her brows furrowed so hard they could kill flies. Not only did she waste a lot of wood ash, she almost accidentally smashed the dishes.

The most important thing was that Jiang had to redo all the dishes she had washed.

Linghua was able to help Jiang pick up some onions and pass some garlic, but when she was helping Jiang pick up the wash basin, she suddenly tripped over a stone and fell with a "bang".

Fortunately, the basin is fine.

However, Linghua was in so much pain that her eyes were filled with tears.

Jiang had a good temper. Although she was very busy and tired, she didn't say anything to her two daughters who were making things worse. Instead, Lihua, the elder sister, was the one who got angry the most:

"Please, my two little bastards! Go play somewhere else and stop causing trouble for me, okay?"

Xia Daohua smiled embarrassedly and opened her mouth with a look of grievance. Linghua, who was about to burst into tears, quickly left.

Linghua was pulled by Daohua and staggered away. She managed to hold back her tears with great difficulty, but still felt like crying.

She likes to play with Lihua, but Lihua ignores her and even yells at her!

What’s more, Rice Flower’s head is so ugly, with an ugly-colored ointment on it, which emits a bitter, astringent and pungent smell!

Xia Daohua pulled Linghua back to the main room, fanned the fire in the small tea stove, put a pot of water in it, and then pulled Linghua to warm herself in front of the small tea stove.

Daohua couldn't help wanting to bake something on the stove. She was just thinking about whether to bake potatoes, sweet potatoes, or steamed bread slices when she heard Linghua tilt her head and ask herself:

"Rice Flower, let's go out and build a snowman?"

Xia Daohua shook her head and refused without hesitation. As a child, she loved making snowmen and having snowball fights! But now, forget it! Not to mention that her injuries hadn't fully healed yet, even if they had, it would still be better not to go out in such a cold day.

These days, there's nowhere to get anti-inflammatory injections or glucose drips.

If you get sick, you can only see a Chinese doctor.

Seeing a Chinese doctor means that she basically cannot avoid drinking bitter Chinese medicine... When she thinks of the Chinese medicine she drank these days, she feels the bitterness numbness at the root of her tongue.

Spare her!

Linghua wrinkled her chubby face, and her big round eyes were filled with tears. She saw that the flood was about to break through the dam, and the thunder in the clear sky was about to explode in her ears. It happened in a flash!

Xia Daohua quickly took out a candy ball covered with fingerprints and teeth marks, and stuffed it into Linghua's open mouth in the blink of an eye.

This candy ball was given to her by Goro last time as a reward for her pinching her nose and drinking a large bowl of black bitter medicine. However, perhaps it had been hidden for too long, and there were many suspicious marks and colors on the candy ball.

Of course Xia Daohua couldn't eat it, but she didn't feel comfortable throwing it away in front of Wulang, so she had to hide it in the storage area of the supermarket.

Just now, when I saw Linghua was about to cry, I thought quickly and offered it to her.

However, Daohua still held onto the candy ball and didn't dare let go. She was afraid that Linghua would be too focused on crying and choking, which would be a big problem.

Linghua tasted the long-lost sweetness and looked at Xia Daohua with tears in her eyes, seeming a little unbelievable. Then she bit the candy ball in one bite, and also bit Daohua's finger.
