After dinner, the children busily cleared the table, washed the dishes, and tidied up the kitchen. Lihua fetched some water and helped the children wash.
Wulang, now grown up, insisted on doing things himself; Xia Daohua, a grown-up at heart, was not happy to be waited on by Lihua. Only Linghua, the youngest, was particularly fond of acting like a spoiled brat at night.
While Lihua washed her face, she closed her eyes, tilted her head back, and waited with a smile.
Lihua's patience was good, and she couldn't help but smile when she saw Linghua's little appearance. She rolled a steaming hot towel and placed it on Linghua's face for a while, wiping her face. The cat instantly became white and clean.
Linghua opened her eyes proudly and said to Lihua, "Apply perfume."
Lihua smiled and tapped Linghua's nose: "Little thing, you're so conceited at such a young age!"
Lihua took out a small, round and smooth box, opened it, picked up a little bit of moisturizer with the tip of her little finger, dotted it on Linghua's face, then closed the lid and carefully put it away in her own box.
Xia Daohua just took a glance and saw that the moisturizer in the box was almost gone.
Lihua noticed Xia Daohua looking at the box of lotion and said with a smile, "Daohua, do you want to apply some fragrance too?"
Xia Daohua shook her head: "I don't need it. It's just that I forgot you even had this."
Lihua's expression changed slightly.
Xia Daohua's forgetfulness began after she fell and hit her head.
Every time Lihua heard Xia Daohua say that she had forgotten something, she couldn't help but feel a little guilty.
Lihua always felt that her eyes were on Wulang and Linghua at the beginning, and she paid too little attention to Daohua. Otherwise, Daohua would not have run to the well platform to play, let alone fall on the well platform.
When Xia Daohua saw that Lihua's face looked a little gloomy, her eyes turned and she immediately thought of Lihua's heart knot.
Lihua is a very qualified eldest sister, but unfortunately her sense of responsibility is a little too strong. She always likes to take the blame for everything that happens to her younger siblings without knowing the truth.
Xia Daohua asked with a smile, "Sister, are you disgusted by my stupidity?"
Lihua applied lotion to Linghua's little face and shook her head to deny Xia Daohua's statement:
"No, don't think about it."
Xia Daohua continued to ask with a smile: "You told me not to let my imagination run wild, so why do you always let your imagination run wild?"
"Um...I..." Lihua was speechless.
She felt like she had been hit by a blow to the head, but her hands did not stop moving out of inertia, and she tucked Linghua into the quilt neatly.
Xia Daohua didn't give Lihua much time to think and continued to ask, "Sister, do you have any control over when it rains?"
Lihua was a little confused by her question: "Do you think I'm the Dragon King? How could I have that ability?"
Xia Daohua laughed and said, "Sis, since you can't control when it rains, how can you control when people fall on the ground?"
Lihua smiled:
"You're so good, Rice Flower! You're waiting for me here! Okay, you don't have to persuade me anymore. I understand all these things, but I can't get over it for a while."
"Then take your time, I want to sleep!"
Xia Daohua pretended to be cheerful and said this, then slipped into her bed with a "swish".
The laughter of Linghua and Goro, suppressed under the quilt, could also be heard. Lihua was slightly annoyed and blew out the lights: "No laughing! Go to sleep!"
The couple in the fourth room haven't gone to bed yet.
Jiang was talking to Xia Youtian about the child from the Dai family.
After listening to Wu's words, she was not 100% reassured, so she made a special trip to Wu's parents' home.
Jiang asked the villagers in that village about the Dai family's personalities and behaviors, and secretly took a look at the child of the Dai family. He was indeed a man of outstanding appearance.
Jiang was already a little willing.
I talked to Xia Youtian about it today and asked him whether he would agree to Wu's matchmaking and let the Dai family see Lihua?
The couple discussed this matter for nearly a quarter of an hour, and only when there was no movement from the children's room did they come to a conclusion.
You can meet someone in person, but you must never agree to a marriage easily.
At the very least, we have to conduct a couple of more rounds of investigation to get a good understanding of the Dai family's situation. We can't make such a big decision based on just one or two contacts.
The next afternoon, Jiang told Wu what Xia Youtian meant, and Wu understood:
"Fourth brother really feels sorry for Lihua.
Fourth sister-in-law, you are blessed, and Lihua is also blessed.
Don't worry, I'm also a mother. Lanhua and Juhua in my family are also young ladies. How could I not understand your thoughts?
I will tell Uncle Dai what you and Fourth Brother mean.
As for the fortune-telling, how about setting it for the eighth day of April, the day of the temple fair?
When the time comes, we will go to the temple fair in Beiguan Town and visit each other by the way.
This way, we can tell others that our two families just happened to meet and were just hanging out together. If things don't work out, we don't have to worry about gossip.
This arrangement is very thoughtful and friendly to the woman.
Except for the main day of the temple fair, when the town is overwhelmed with people visiting the fair and it can be very crowded, there is little else to complain about.
Jiang nodded in agreement and repeatedly praised the idea.
Xia Youtian was also very happy when he heard this.
The couple found Lihua and quietly told her about their dating arrangements.
When Lihua heard this, her face turned red with embarrassment, but it only lasted for less than half a minute before she returned to normal.
