Chapter 23 Needlework

Seeing what was in Jiang's hand, Cheng called Liu Lang and Zao Hua over to express her gratitude without hesitation.

Jiang felt a little embarrassed, yet vaguely satisfied.

Especially when she heard Cheng sincerely praising her elder sister-in-law for loving her and being generous and considerate in her dealings with others, the satisfaction almost burst her heart.

Jiang sat in the fifth room for a full quarter of an hour before returning home satisfied.

After arriving home, Jiang let out a long breath, picked up a piece of perilla leaf with chopsticks, put it in her mouth, chewed it carefully, and slowly savored its flavor.

Jiang tasted the perilla leaves, took a bite of kimchi, and just as she picked up a tofu ball, Xia Youtian woke up.

Several children woke up soon after.

Jiang cooked some corn grits porridge, added some sauerkraut and pork belly to the tofu balls, and stewed them in a pot. She then placed fried small yellow croaker, kimchi, perilla leaves, and beetroot on a plate, brought it to the table, and let Xia Youtian and his grandfather eat.

Xia Youtian happily asked Jiang to pour him some wine:

"My dear, I won't drink too much, just one cup will do. It would be a shame not to drink a cup of such a strong dish!"

Xia Youtian's tone made Jiang and the children laugh. Jiang said with a smile:

"What's so weird about this? When did I stop you from drinking?"

"Yes, yes, my lady is the most virtuous!" Xia Youtian hurriedly bowed to Jiang.

Jiang was so angry that she hit Xia Youtian lightly, and then she went to get a small bowl and poured half a bowl of wine for Xia Youtian.

Inside the Xia family's cupboard, there was a wine jar the size of a fist, made of coarse pottery, filled with only a little of the cheapest bulk rice wine. The lid of the wine jar was covered with a piece of cloth, supposedly to prevent the smell of the wine from dissipating.

Jiang poured wine for Xia Youtian, then put the lid of the jar back on tightly and covered it with the cloth again.

Xia Daohua looked at the turbid rice wine in the small bowl and took two deep breaths.

There are business opportunities everywhere.

Everywhere.

Maybe she can try her luck at the next big market!

Xia Daohua suppressed her slightly excited breathing, clenched her hands into fists, and put them in front of her mouth.

Xia Youtian misunderstood Xia Daohua's expression, hesitated for a moment, dipped the tip of his chopsticks in some rice wine, and passed it to Xia Daohua's mouth:

"You can try it first. But your wound hasn't healed yet, so you can't drink this! Got it?"

Xia Daohua nodded and did not try to clarify Xia Youtian's misunderstanding of her.

The two drops of wine on the tip of the chopsticks fell on her taste buds, it was very bland and a little sour.

The cheapest wine in the supermarket is much better than this!

There was a sparkling light in Xia Daohua's eyes, and Xia Youtian laughed heartily:

"Daohua is a really good kid, follow me!"

Jiang was both angry and amused: "Daihua follows you, but the other children don't follow you?"

Xia Youtian smiled happily: "How could that be possible! All our children are just like me!"

Xia Daohua's eyes were still sparkling, and her thoughts had already spread away from wine and beverages. She thought of many things that could be taken to the market to set up a stall, such as rice candy and rice crust.

Rice candy and rice crust are both things that have existed in this era and can be made by ordinary people at home.

But the various flavors of rice candies and rice crusts in the supermarket are incomparable to the homemade snacks made by the local indigenous people on a daily basis.

If we take it to the market and set up a stall, maybe we can hide it from both sides - from outsiders and the Xia family.

However, before making a decision, sufficient research is needed.

At present, her understanding of this time and space is still very superficial. She is also unfamiliar with the local market. The last time she came across it was when she went there with the old couple from the Xia family before the New Year.

Children do not need to pay a city entrance fee when going to town, but if they are carrying goods, can they still go for free?

Moreover, in this era there are human traffickers, commonly known as kidnappers.

Every year at the Lantern Festival, children of all ages, as well as beautiful young girls and wives, are abducted by kidnappers.

If she goes into the city alone to sell things, how can her personal safety be guaranteed?

Although she had a space supermarket to hide in, if she did this kind of magic trick too many times, she might be seen by others. If she was then mistaken for a monster and burned to death, that would be truly unfair!

Xia Youtian and Jiang naturally had no idea that so many random thoughts were running through Xia Daohua's little head. Seeing her eyes flickering and blurred, as if she was daydreaming, they thought it was the two drops of wine that caused her harm.

Jiang quietly grabbed a small piece of flesh from Xia Youtian's waist and twisted it hard.

Xia Youtian grimaced in pain: "Madam, spare my life!"

Jiang snorted angrily, "Let's see if you dare to give the child alcohol!"

Lihua couldn't help laughing and pulled Xia Daohua away: "Daohua, are you done eating? Sister will teach you how to make clothes!"

"Lihua, it's only the third day of junior high school today, you can't touch needles and scissors!"

"Hey! Don't worry, Mom! I know, I won't move. Today I will teach you how to measure the size of rice flowers!"

After being pulled by Lihua, Daohua had to come to her senses and followed Lihua's force.

Linghua and Wulang also left the table quickly. Firstly, they were full, and secondly, they knew when to leave space for their parents.

A few half-grown children laughed all the way and ran to the next door. Then Lihua actually took out a piece of clothes and began to teach Daohua and Linghua how to make clothes.

Lihua usually has a very hot temper and is a bit impatient, but when she was explaining to her sisters how to make clothes, her attitude was surprisingly not bad.

It was a summer garment, a medium-length coat, and judging by its color and texture, it must have belonged to the Jiang family. It had no buttonholes, but had cloth buttons and a thin cloth belt.

Lihua started with the collar, explaining how to measure the size, how to cut, and how to sew. Her explanation was concise and clear, and Xia Daohua was more and more surprised the more she listened.

Lihua is definitely worthy of the words "clever and skillful".

She is a genius!

The almost fervent admiration in Xia Daohua's eyes made Lihua suddenly feel a little uncomfortable: "Daohua, are you really listening?"

Xia Daohua replied with a smile, "Of course I'm listening! Sis, you're so strong!"

Lihua's cheeks suddenly flushed, but she was shy for a moment before quickly switching to a nonchalant look.

"Don't make such a fuss. Everyone can sew. When you're my age, you might be even better at it than me! Besides, my skills are nowhere near our mother's!"

Xia Daohua knew that Jiang was also a very clever and skillful person.

She can embroider.

Among all the young girls and wives in Beiguan Village, the number of those who are as good at embroidery as Jiang can be counted on one hand.
