Chapter 1346 The Returnee's Notes 420

On the other side, Jing Shui, having received Xie Ning's message, decided to find a hotel to stay in. It was the hotel where she had been assigned to track him, since her tracking skills were the best in the sect. Otherwise, it would have taken her a lot more effort to find this place.

Not far away, there was a stall selling wontons. The stall owners were an elderly couple. Jing Shui bought a serving of wontons, but instead of leaving immediately, she looked down at her constantly shaking compass.

The soul umbrella she carried on her back was also stirring restlessly.

That ghost is so stupid. They're clearly afraid of her, but she still clings to these two old people and won't leave.

Jing Shui shook her wrist, and a tinkling sound rang out, but it didn't reach the ears of the two old people. Instead, it made the little devil tremble.

Subconsciously touching her eyes, Jing Shui sighed inwardly at how useful high technology was; she could see even a ghost without it showing itself, though it was just a blurry shadow.

It was already very late, and Jing Shui was the elderly couple's last customer.

That's why the old woman gave Jing Shui a full bowl, saying, "Little girl, eat more so you can grow strong."

But she was thin, and she sat on a small board spread out on the cart, cooking wontons day after day. The old man tidied up the other things and then carried the old woman to the seat at the front of the tricycle.

Then he handed her a bowl of warm wontons, which had just been left over and were just right for her taste.

The old man didn't say a word the whole time. When he saw Jing Shui looking at them, he made a goodbye gesture, smiled a little embarrassedly, and got into the car.

The old woman turned around and said, "Young lady, it's not safe tonight. You should go home early."

Jing Shui carried the wontons in one hand and held the little devil's hand in the other. Seeing that the little devil was still struggling, she tightened her grip and smiled at the old woman, saying, "Yes, goodbye, Grandma."

The tricycle slowly drove away without any bumps, but for the first time, the old woman had no appetite for the wontons in her hand. "Old man, why do I feel so empty inside?"

The other person didn't speak, and the old woman didn't pay any attention, only looking around nervously.

Behind the car, the little ghost that Jing Shui was holding appeared. Its neck hurt, but it still stretched out its little paws to grab Jing Shui.

"Bad...bad!"

Jing Shui tightened the little devil's ties even more, and said with a laugh, "Me, bad? You're always clinging to that old woman's back; she'll die if you keep doing that."

How can humans and ghosts coexist for so long?

Knowing that this little devil had a clear mind and didn't seem to be an evil spirit, Jing Shui offered a few words of reasoning.

"No... Grandma is fine, she won't die."

She tried to cry as she spoke, but couldn't. She just wailed, her voice shrill.

Jing Shui frowned. "Shut up."

The little devil wouldn't listen, and in the end, a talisman was stuck to his mouth. He whimpered as he watched Jing Shui find a secluded roadside to eat wontons.

Seeing that the little devil had quieted down and was staring at him expectantly, Jing Shui smiled and gave it a few wontons.

"Grandpa made the wontons, and Grandma cooked them. They're delicious."

It's not greedy at all; Grandma cooks it a bowl every day.

Jing Shui rested her chin on her hand, looking at the little devil who was soaking wet. She then picked up the camera Xie Ning had given them and took a picture. "You should leave. This is not a place for you."

The little ghost's spirit wavered for a moment, but it quickly reaffirmed its belief: "Grandma can't bear to part with me, and Grandpa can't bear to part with me either. I will wait for them."

Grandma said that I would take care of them when I grow up, and good children keep their promises.

"But you will never grow up again."

Jing Shui's words were direct, but they were true. Holding onto one's obsession and staying in this world is irresponsible to oneself and one's loved ones.

The little devil pouted, didn't cry, but also didn't say anything more.

After a long while, the little devil pointed at Jing Shui's camera and said, "Can you take a picture of me and my grandparents?"

Taking photos was so expensive; it only gave you a tiny one-inch photo, which later became a large black and white photo.

I should have smiled when they took my ID photo.
