Chapter 190 Deep Virtual Reality 17

Chapter 190 Deep Virtual Reality 17

Since Zhan Lin went on her mission, she hadn't returned. Xie Ning sighed at how busy the security guards were, then packed up her toolbox, changed into a more formal and appropriate outfit, and boarded the levitation train bound for Huarui Technology Company.

The levitation train meanders along the aerial tracks like a snake through the cold, bizarre steel jungle. Through the windows, the strange buildings and colorful neon lights outside are clearly visible. The lights are reflected on the glass windows of the high-rise buildings, and the interplay of reflection and reality creates a hazy, dreamlike atmosphere.

It wasn't raining at the time, and the surroundings exuded a sense of separation between bustling activity and quietude. The people on the train were all quietly doing their own things, rarely exchanging words.

The young girl, wearing headphones, was immersed in her own world of music. A formally dressed middle-aged man was frowning as he replied to something on his communicator. A trendy young man, wearing half-glasses, gazed tenderly at the person beside him, as if he were looking at his beloved.

Everyone is immersed in their own electronic world.

The train slowly descended, and a cold, electronic voice sounded in the cabin: "Attention passengers, your Federal GH34 train is about to arrive at Huarui No. 1 Station. Passengers who wish to disembark, please pay attention to your personal safety, take your belongings with you, and wait to disembark."

She was greeted at the station by a young man in a white uniform jacket. "Are you Ms. Xie? This way, please."

The lobby of Huarui Technology Company was spacious, but there were hardly any people inside; it was almost entirely filled with robots equipped with guns.

The young man smiled faintly at the toolbox in Xie Ning's hand, "No personal items are allowed here. Please give it to me for safekeeping, Ms. Xie."

Xie Ning pursed her lips. She wasn't familiar with many tools, but she had no choice but to hand them in now, and she still didn't know what this interview was all about.

The young man handed the toolbox to a robot, then led Xie Ning up the elevator. "Keno, go to base P8."

“Yes, Officer Yate.”

The cold, mechanical electronic voice was different from the one when she said she was returning the resume and on the train; it was more of a female voice. So her name is Kono?

Xie Ning had read some information about Kono, one of the first generation of artificial intelligence, which has been improved and is still in use today, but it serves some special departments of the Federation and top technology companies.

Another first-generation artificial intelligence is called Moss, which is the electronic voice that Shening first heard. Moss was created a little earlier than Kono, and basically the entire Federation's daily operations rely on Moss.

“Base P8 segment has arrived. Please verify your identity.”

Art simply scanned the iris and opened the elevator door, leading to a large hall. There was no one there. Several tables and chairs and some bionic plants were placed on both sides of the hall, and there were two beverage machines on the left.

A small white robot, resembling a tiny octopus, floated in the air. Upon seeing Xie Ning and the other person, it curiously flew over. Xie Ning didn't know what it was, and seeing that Ate didn't intend to explain, he pretended not to care.

There was a metal door directly in front of him. At swiped his identity card on the control panel next to it, and the metal door retracted from the top, revealing a long corridor in front of Xie Ning. The top and sides of the corridor were made of glass, allowing people to see the outside scenery very clearly.

Upon seeing a night sky twinkling with stars, Xie Ning knew it was a virtual projection.

The entire passage was about two hundred meters long, and at the end was another metal door. Only then did Xie Ning see the other people. There were two guards on each side inside, and the front desk was directly in front. Behind the receptionist was a huge rotating projection logo of Huarui Technology Company.

"Hello, please register."

Registration was simple; it involved scanning Xie Ning's image and then handing her a semi-transparent temporary pass.

"Dr. Ji is waiting for you in his office. This way, please."

After saying that, he led Xie Ning to the passage on the right. After passing through two more metal doors, they entered a long corridor with many metal doors inside. One of the metal doors opened, and a middle-aged man dressed in a white uniform walked out.

Xie Ning glanced at the opening and closing metal door but didn't see much, only a faint silhouette of a girl's back, though only half of her body was visible.

Reaching the end of the passage, Yate swiped his ID card and gestured for Xie Ning to do the same. Unlike other places, if Xie Ning didn't swipe his temporary pass, an alarm would be triggered when passing through the metal door.
