Chapter 201 Deep Virtual Reality 28

Chapter 201 Deep Virtual Reality 28

The walls were lined with rows of jars containing various bodily tissues, and one wall was covered entirely with eyes, so densely packed that it was terrifying to look at.

"Carli, we've come to retrieve the spare organ for number 037." Chu Qing led Xie Ning into the inner room.

Inside was a short-haired woman wearing a uniform similar to work clothes. She was working, and many of the symbols on the floating light screen were incomprehensible to Xie Ning. He only roughly knew that it was gene editing.

Upon hearing this, Carrie glanced indifferently at Chu Qing and Xie Ning, "Keno, proceed with the scanning and registration."

"Okay, scan complete. Chu Qing, Level 3 staff member of S District, and Xie Ning, Level 4 staff member. Identities confirmed. Registration complete."

Chu Qing handed one of the boxes to Xie Ning, and when she saw that Xie Ning's hands were red from the cold, she realized that she had forgotten something. "I forgot to take you to change your clothes."

Chu Qing smiled and said, "The temperature in the freezer is very low. I used to work here and I'm used to the cold. I forgot that this is your first time here, so you might not be able to adapt."

"It's alright, it'll only be for a little while. I'm not that delicate."

Xie Ning's gaze swept across the wall, and she was now certain that their organs had been produced in a laboratory.

"I always thought that androids were bred, just that they grew up faster." This was a completely unfamiliar field for her, and she didn't learn much about it from books.

"You're probably referring to 'purification,' cloning technology, but this technology is prohibited from being used on humans, those ethicists..."

Chu Qing made a helpless expression, "Right now we can't break through the barriers of traditional ethics and morality, so we only have experiments specifically researching therapeutic cloning technology. As for the complete one... I don't know."

Complete versions certainly exist, but they are banned from use. Those high-ranking officials are afraid of death, and they are also afraid that someone will create another version of themselves to replace them.

Xie Ning nodded slightly. She understood Chu Qing's implication: that complete clones did indeed exist, but they couldn't be exposed to the light of day.

No longer discussing that topic, Chu Qing continued talking about androids. When Chu Qing mentioned that android bodies are basically all man-made, Xie Ning paused.

"So every part of every android's body has its own unique number?"

“Of course, you can see it with a special microscope.” Chu Qing nodded slightly to the passersby, then turned to Xie Ning. The light shone on his glasses, making it difficult to see his expression. “Because only in this way can you distinguish between androids and humans.”

"If a human gets sick, can artificial bionic organs be used?" Xie Ning looked at the long corridor, which was a cold, metallic color, and began to doubt her own identity.

This was a rather tricky question, and Chu Qing thought for a while before answering, "With current technology, no one would choose to use organs from androids because the human body would have a rejection reaction, and android organs have genetic defects. Basically, people would choose limbs or transplants of human organs, or... therapeutic cloning technology can also come in handy."

"I see. Staff Member Chu, do you have any relevant books? I'm looking after 034 and need to know more about him; he's not doing well."

Xie Ning felt things were getting more and more chaotic. She calmly changed the subject. These topics were still worth discussing, since they were in the cooperation stage, but it was hard to say anything more in-depth.
