Chapter 344 Deep Virtual Reality 172
This was not a paper-based exam. Everyone wrote their answers on electronic screens on their desks. There were no proctors, and the aisles were filled with floating monitoring machines, completely eliminating the possibility of cheating.
No one can fool artificial intelligence under so many eyes, and once cheating occurs, one's personal credit will be damaged, making it impossible to participate in such exams again. Even some industries with higher requirements will reject one's resume.
Because of his sensitive hearing, even though the sound of the observation machine was very faint and almost inaudible to the average person, it sounded like a mosquito buzzing to Xie Ning, with a faint electrical sound mixed in, as if it were coming from the observation machine behind him, which was quite irritating.
Xie Ning took a deep breath, cleared his mind of distractions, and answered seriously.
The exam time passed quickly, almost in a flash. Xie Ning finished answering the questions fifteen minutes before the deadline. Looking around, she saw that there were others like her, but most were still buried in their work.
Xie Ning didn't look back, but she could still hear the faint trembling of the examinee behind her. He seemed nervous, his breathing was heavy, and he kept swallowing.
However, Xie Ning didn't think much of it. He simply turned his gaze to the window, where the jade plum blossoms were blooming softly, with clusters of white snow on the branches, reflecting the snow and frost, making it hard to tell whether they were flowers or fresh snow.
"Ding-a-ling—Exam over. Please stop answering." Xie Ning looked down at the screen on the table; the screen was already locked.
After Xie Ning withdrew his gaze, several strangely shaped alien creatures slowly moved their slimy bodies out from behind the tree, inching their way to the sewer, and then slid down like mud, leaving a trail of slimy filth on the ground.
Xie Ning thought that no one would cheat under such strict surveillance, but she did not expect that before she could leave after handing in her paper, a woman wearing a light blue fishtail dress walked in with two guards.
Xie Ning turned around thoughtfully as the man behind her turned pale and lowered his head, his long bangs obscuring his vision. As the footsteps drew closer, he involuntarily trembled.
Two guards walked straight past Xie Ning and grabbed the man behind her.
Why are you arresting me?!
The man resisted loudly, attracting the attention of the surrounding examinees. Seeing this, the man's actions became even more violent, but the guard's muscular physique was no joke; he lifted the man as easily as lifting a chicken.
"Zhang Xin, for disrupting the examination room order, according to federal law, your exam results are canceled and you will be detained for three months." The woman crossed her arms, and the screen in her hand clearly displayed Zhang Xin's personal information.
"I didn't!" The man's teeth chattered, his eyes bloodshot as he stared intently at the woman.
"Whether it's true or not isn't up to you to decide. The evidence is conclusive. If you resist any further, your detention will be extended by another three months." The woman frowned, clearly displeased.
She never expected that someone would be foolish enough to cheat under Moss's surveillance.
Xie Ning's gaze fell on the man. Because of the woman's words, his breathing became heavier, he was sweating profusely, his face slowly turned red, and his lips turned slightly black, making him look as if he was embarrassed and angry.
But Xie Ning felt something was off; the man's reaction was too much.
Seemingly noticing Xie Ning looking at him, the man glared at her suddenly, his pupils dilating and contracting abnormally. Xie Ning's expression hardened, and before she could speak, the man began to gag, his body convulsing uncontrollably.
The two guards holding him loosened their grip and looked at the woman, asking what to do.
"Take him to the infirmary."
They were there to catch students cheating, not to kill them.
"Rip—" The sound of clothes being torn.
The guard instinctively moved away from the man, his bulletproof vest bearing several deep scratches. Looking at the man again, he noticed that his fingernails had become sharp and hard, gleaming with a black sheen.
If he hadn't been wearing a bulletproof vest, it would have been his chest that was torn open.
Another guard tried to restrain the man by holding his hands back, but unexpectedly, when he looked down, he saw that three black insects, each as thick as a finger, had bitten his tiger's mouth.
Immediately afterward, he felt a numbness, and the man sprang up instantly, rushing towards Xie Ning and the woman.
"Ah—" the woman screamed, instinctively raising her arm to block. Just when she thought the man was about to pounce on her and tear her apart, a fair and slender hand tightly gripped the man's neck.
White frost spread, instantly covering the man's body and freezing him into an ice block.
"Quick! Call for backup!" The remaining examinees were in chaos, scrambling to get out.
Xie Ning pulled the woman back two steps, then kicked the man, knowing that freezing him wouldn't last long.
Moreover, she could feel the man melting, so she couldn't hold him back.
The ice slammed against the wall, cracking open with the impact. The man, surprised at breaking free of his predicament, hadn't even had time to pounce again when an ice spike pierced his chest.
Nail him firmly to the wall, then cover him with ice.
There were still a dozen or so black worms wriggling on the ground, and Xie Ning raised his hand to freeze them.
"What, what is this thing?" The woman was terrified and turned pale. She was just the deputy examiner in charge of this area. How could she have encountered such a monster?
That's so unlucky.
“It must have been parasitized.” Xie Ning gestured for the guard who had been bitten to raise his hand. At this point, half of the guard’s hand had turned black, clearly indicating that the insect was poisonous.
"If you want to save your life, cut off your hand."
