Chapter 355 Deep Virtual Reality 183

Chapter 355 Deep Virtual Reality 183

"What's wrong?"

Xie Ning got up and walked to the rabbit. He was startled when he saw the big red exclamation mark on it.

The rabbit twitched its ears and circled around Xie Ning. "The core data is locked with an anti-intrusion system nested around it. If we continue to read it, we will be attacked, and our interference system will be damaged. This security lock can only be opened through biometric verification."

The long, metallic ears drooped. "My current abilities are insufficient to crack this."

"It's alright." Although somewhat disappointed, Xie Ning had expected it; the rabbit's system wasn't advanced enough.

"Send me a summary of the data you've read." Xie Ning paused, then thrust the ice blade to the side, producing a metallic clanging sound.

"Hiss—" The mutated bird-eating spider's mouth moved, but it couldn't make a sound; it could only make a sound by rubbing its legs together.

How did this experimental subject end up here?

Both took a step back. The mutated bird-eating spider stretched out its head and sniffed, seemingly finding a reassuring scent. It immediately withdrew its fierce gaze and moved step by step towards the wall, its cocoon rolling a few times on the ground.

Seemingly sensing Xie Ning's gaze, the mutated bird-eating spider pulled the cocoon closer to its abdomen and continued to move step by step, occasionally accidentally poking the arm of the researcher lying on the ground.

Xie Ning twitched the corner of her mouth. Luckily, she had used enough anesthetic, otherwise she would have woken up from the pain.

Under Xie Ning's gaze, the mutated bird-eating spider moved to the wall covered with specimens, slapped its identification tag on a blue butterfly specimen, and the originally flat wall surface dented, revealing an exit inside.

Xie Ning narrowed her eyes. She had been focused on reading data as soon as she arrived and hadn't expected there to be another space inside.

The mutated spider darted inside at incredible speed. Xie Ning grabbed the rabbit and followed. Inside the door were steps leading down to a long corridor. Behind a glass wall were various humanoid creatures in agony, their cries reaching Xie Ning's ears even through the glass.

The creatures, half-human and half-ugly and bizarre, pressed themselves tightly against the glass wall when they saw the stranger enter, their numb and pained eyes fixed on Xie Ning.

Xie Ning's gaze fell on the mutated bird-eating spider standing at the innermost part of the room. It looked up at an unknown creature inside, which was howling. Their tears mingled with the pale blue artificial seawater.

Xie Ning pursed her lips tightly. She didn't know if the creatures behind the glass walls on both sides were evolved from alien creatures. If not, she didn't dare to think about what kind of inhuman experiment was behind it.

The ear-piercing sound of glass scraping rang out, and the mutated bird-eating spider's face and body looked bizarre and crazed. Xie Ning's mind raced. "Rabbit, analyze the facial features of the mutated bird-eating spider and the creature inside, and check the similarity."

"Yes, it's being analyzed... The facial features match is 65%."

Xie Ning's heart sank further and further. Simply analyzing facial features was of course not enough to determine whether the two were related by blood; it was just her simplistic judgment.

If the mutated bird-eating spider and the person behind the glass wall are indeed related, then this type of experiment is more likely to be the kind she least wants.

"Unknown signal detected! Unknown signal detected!" The rabbit's alarm snapped Xie Ning back to reality.

A floating sphere flew past behind her. Xie Ning turned on the light screen, and the detector she had placed on it showed that no one was approaching.

The guards were still far away.

"Hello." A female voice came from the hovering sphere, followed by the silhouette of a middle-aged woman in a silver-white uniform.

To Xie Ning's surprise, this person's face was somewhat similar to Professor Lillian's, except that this person's temperament was more calm and gentle.

The middle-aged woman glanced at the mutated bird-eating spider frantically cutting through the glass before turning her gaze to Xie Ning.

"My surname is Yun, and my given name is Jing. You must have heard of my name before." Yun Jing looked at the unfamiliar young woman in front of her, feeling slightly speechless.

Xie Ning nodded slightly. Yun Jing was one of the top professors at the research base. Some of the medicines on the market were made by her. Xie Ning only learned later that Professor Yun Jing extracted substances from alien creatures and used them for medical purposes.

Moreover, it's not limited to the medical field, but also includes various cutting-edge materials.

However, to be precise, alien creatures are just one type of research Professor Yun Jing has been studying; she is an exceptionally outstanding bioengineer.

"Can you tell me what your purpose is? And that experimental subject, 208? Did you bring it?" Seeing Xie Ning's wary expression, Yun Jing smiled faintly.

"You are very capable, so I've been thinking about cooperating with you. If I say I'll help you achieve your goals, of course, it has to be within my capabilities."

Could you help me dispose of some things I want to destroy?

Yun Jing glanced at the mutated bird-eating spider again. It was surprising that it didn't attack Xie Ning. Moreover, judging from the human-like pained expression on its face, this experimental subject must have remembered its memories as a human.
