Chapter 72 The Moon of Yesteryear

Chapter 72 The Moon of Yesteryear

Under the lamplight, Xie Ning was still packing her things upstairs. She had a lot of things, so she occupied the room next door, which was originally Liu Zi's room, and used it as a study. She usually worked and taught Yun Ai Ai there. In the corner, there was a pile of neatly stacked newspapers and documents. Xie Ning didn't plan to take those with her; she didn't have that much space.

She only planned to pack some important items into the storage space, and leave the rest here until Aunt Liu notified someone to come and collect them.

Xie Ning was exhausted after squatting and sorting the items for a long time. She collapsed onto the bed and fell asleep immediately. Luckily, she was still wearing her pajamas, so she didn't have to change again.

After the lights were all turned off, Liu Zi quietly got up and walked step by step toward the door, constantly reassuring himself that they only wanted Miss Xie and wouldn't hurt anyone else, and that Miss Xie wouldn't suffer if she followed them.

They would only fawn over such a powerful Miss Xie. With that, Liu Zi convinced himself, and his steps became much more firm.

Just as dawn broke the next day, a noise downstairs suddenly woke Xie Ning, followed by a gunshot.

The noise not only woke Xie Ning, but also alerted the town's police and nearby residents.

Damn it!

"How come you can't even control a woman?" The man kicked Aunt Liu in the stomach, then signaled his men to tie her up.

As Xie Ning hurried downstairs, she saw Aunt Liu being dragged out, followed by Yun Aiyuan, Hanwazi, and Xiao Yang. She was also being held at gunpoint. Xie Ning's gaze swept past the man standing next to her at the top of the stairs and went straight to Liu Zi in the courtyard.

"Did you do this?" Xie Ning's voice was dry.

If there was no inside help, the mere sound of someone climbing over the wall would be enough to wake people up, let alone the broken glass that Xiao Yang had piled up on the wall. Moreover, according to her calculations, these people shouldn't make a move so soon, unless someone leaked the information.

Liu Zi dared not look at Xie Ning, keeping his head down tightly. Xiao Yang spat out a mouthful of blood and began to curse loudly.

"Miss Xie, or Mr. Xie?" The man's slightly low voice rang in her ears, and the dark muzzle of a gun was pressed against Xie Ning's lower back.

Xie Ning took a deep breath and calmly said, "Is there a difference? Aren't you looking for me? Xie Ning and Xie Qing are the same person."

Snap snap snap—

The man put away his gun and clapped. "Miss Xie is indeed a remarkable woman, just as Sanye said. Her composure under these circumstances is truly admirable."

"Mitsuha Fujita?"

"It is indeed my good-for-nothing younger brother. Let me formally introduce myself. My name is Fujita Soseki. It's a pleasure to meet you, Miss Xie. Although I have many questions for you, now is not the time. We'll have plenty of time later. Would you like to leave on your own, or would you like us to take you away?"

Fujita Soseki raised an eyebrow. He hadn’t expected Xie Ning to realize they were watching him so quickly and try to escape. Therefore, he had to bring the plan forward. Although it would alarm the Kuomintang, once they got the person, they could deal with the other troubles later.

"Fujita-kun, what should we do with these people?"

"We only need Miss Xie and Miss Yun. Burn everything else down, along with the house. It'll be cleaner that way."

"No, didn't you say you wouldn't hurt anyone else?" Liu Zi stared wide-eyed in disbelief, then was beaten to the ground and tied up.

Seeing that the men were about to attack, the simple-minded boy was so frightened that he didn't dare to blink. Xie Ning quickly called for a stop and turned to Fujita Soseki, saying, "Don't you just want me to make weapons for you? Release them, including Yun Ai'ai, and I will go with you willingly. This is my sincerity."

Xie Ning pulled a blueprint from her nightgown pocket, glanced at the people coming downstairs, and said, "Mr. Fujita, even if you send your men to search this place from top to bottom, you won't find any blueprints. They've all been destroyed by me. I only have them in my head. If I don't want them to, you won't get anything."

Fujita Soseki glanced at Yun Ai'ai and Xie Ning, seemingly deep in thought. Xie Ning emphasized, "A half-baked expert and an expert, Mr. Fujita, are you still hesitating?"

"Haha, no, of course there's no need to hesitate. Miss Xie is a smart woman who understands the principle that those who know when to yield are the wise ones." As he spoke, he draped his coat over Xie Ning's shoulders and said very gently, "It's chilly at night, Miss Xie, please don't catch a cold."

Even if Xie Ning is lying, so what? He has plenty of ways to make Xie Ning submit and make Xie Ning willingly do things for them.

Xie Ning twitched her fingers, suppressed her discomfort and turned her head away, gently blinking at Aunt Liu who was lying on the ground.
