Chapter 946 The Returnee's Notes 20
Wang Heng took them to City S, a city almost entirely populated by migrant workers. Compared to the leisurely and backward atmosphere of the small town, it was undoubtedly much more prosperous, with people walking quickly to and from work.
Seeing Xie Ning staring at the scenery outside the window, Wang Ze leaned closer and pointed out the buildings to Xie Ning one by one. No wonder he was familiar with them; after all, he had come here to make a living when he was a teenager.
However, he later met Master Wang, became his disciple, and thus changed professions.
The person who came to pick them up was a bald man wearing a black down jacket and suit pants. When he saw Xie Ning carrying a pink backpack behind him, his small eyes widened. Why did this master bring a child with him?
Moreover, this master... looks very ordinary, the kind of person you wouldn't notice if you threw him into a crowd.
"Master Zhang, this..."
Standing next to the bald man was a man in his thirties or forties, with a small tuft of beard on his chin, a bun hairstyle, and wearing a dark Taoist robe. He certainly looked quite dignified.
It was Zhang Dong who was calling for people in the group.
"Ahem... You can't judge a book by its cover. These two are both very capable, and there's no rule that says you have to wear a Taoist robe to work in this line of work, is there?"
After saying that, he glared at Wang Heng. The two of them were wearing down jackets and jeans, making him look pretentious in his Taoist robe.
Wang Heng turned his head away, pretending not to see. In the dead of winter, shouldn't he be wearing more clothes? Down jackets are so warm; his wife bought them for a lot of money.
Hearing Zhang Dong's affirmation, the bald man's smile became even more sincere. He invited the group into the restaurant, where they ate and chatted.
Zhang Dong then introduced the two sides to each other. The bald man was a leader in the factory, a section chief of a certain department, Zhao Daming. However, Zhang Dong did not recognize Xie Ning.
Wang Heng said with a smile, "It's good to bring my younger sister out to see the world."
Xie Ning also greeted him politely, "Hello, Brother Zhang."
She already calls Wang Laodao "Uncle," so how could she call this man, who is of the same generation as Wang Heng, "Uncle"?
"Okay, okay." But he remembered that the Xiaowushan Taoist temple didn't have any little girls. "Whose family is this?"
"Grandma Xie's family."
Zhang Dong shut his mouth. He had heard of the elder Xie Pozi, so he treated Xie Ning even better.
During the meal, Section Chief Zhao asked the restaurant to bring some desserts and drinks that children like. They had originally prepared wine, but since there were children present, he didn't urge them to drink.
He only talked to Wang Heng about the strange things happening in the factory. Actually, Wang Heng had already heard Zhang Dong talk about it on the way, but it wouldn't hurt to hear Section Chief Zhao say it again.
The haunted place is a staff dormitory in the factory. Because of the rumors of it being haunted, many employees went on strike and demanded to move to a different dormitory.
But changing dorm rooms isn't something that can be resolved so easily.
Moreover, the higher-ups didn't believe the ghost stories at all; they just thought the employees were dissatisfied with the dilapidated dormitory and wanted to move to a new one.
Later, the deputy factory director persuaded them to invite some people to come and take a look. Even though they didn't find anything in the end, it was still reassuring.
The problem was that the opera singing sound seemed to appear out of nowhere; no one knew where it came from. In the end, all the employees in that building were moved to another location because the deputy factory director had also heard it.
Even after changing dormitories, the opera singing continued. Every night, the long opera singing would echo in the corridor of that building, scaring the security guards who patrolled at night so much that they would never go in.
Therefore, that building remains locked to this day.
Because Section Chief Zhao was present, Zhang Dong couldn't go into detail about many things. So, after the group finished eating and entered the hotel, Zhang Dong followed them in to discuss matters.
At first, he thought it was a ghost that had gone astray and that he could just send it away. However, his usual magic failed to work and even caused some strange occurrences.
He... was almost tricked into jumping out of the window.
Therefore, he concluded that the ghost was not simple and was probably seeking revenge. But if that were the case, it had not harmed anyone in the building.
That's very strange.
