Chapter 736 God Will Not Allow Me to Cause Miss to Lose Her Honor 29
Outside the manor, the Countess and Conrad shivered in the carriage.
Although the carriage was luxurious, it could not withstand the cold for long periods of time.
As night deepened, the wind and snow intensified suddenly, and the kerosene lamp hanging on the curtain swayed precariously, its light gradually fading.
Finally, with a "snap," it went dark.
Conrad couldn't bear it any longer. "Mother, let's leave first."
Countess Hobbes, shivering from the cold, said, "We have no coachman."
The coachman was sent away by them.
Conrad and Countess Hobbes were both confident that they could enter the manor.
However, reality is often harsh; Colin completely ignored them, and the servants in the manor showed them little respect.
Conrad gritted his teeth: "I want to see Marquis John!"
“I want to tell Marquis John that Colin lacks chivalry and the eight virtues of a knight, and is not worth cultivating!”
He felt a deep envy when he thought about Colin's current appearance.
He was even more handsome than him.
They were even half a head taller than him.
When he left home, he was so inconspicuous.
Conrad had a feeling that if Colin were given a chance, he would soar to great heights and bring honor to the Hobbes family.
In any case, this is not what he and his mother wanted to see.
If the father finds out, he might change the heir.
After all, in his father's eyes, he and Colin were both his children, and whoever was more beneficial to the family would naturally be handed over to them.
A strong sense of crisis swept over Conrad.
Countess Hobbes, however, appeared remarkably calm at this moment. "Let's go back to Banrwind first."
Conrad, puzzled, protested, "Why! Are we just going to let him grow up like this?"
Countess Hobbes: "Go back first. We can't let your father know about his recent changes."
"We need to plan carefully; this trip was too rushed, and we've been away from home for too long."
"Your father flirts with every pretty woman he sees, you don't want me to follow in his footsteps, do you?"
Conrad remained silent for a long time before saying nothing. "Let's go back first."
Upon closer reflection, it was indeed too reckless.
Finney and Laura were just trying to use them to create trouble for Miss Agatha.
However, their only target was Colin.
There's no need to offend Miss Agatha Christie.
The two decided to leave first thing tomorrow morning.
...
Banrwind, Earl Hobbes' Castle.
In the darkness, an eagle landed on the windowsill and pecked twice at the glass with its sharp beak.
A terrified male voice came from inside: "Who?"
Footsteps approached the window cautiously.
He rubbed his hands together, pushed the window open, and saw nothing but a gust of wind.
Robin Hobbs shrugged; the night wind was especially cold.
He closed the window, and the feeling of something foreign under his feet made him look down.
A black letter.
Robin bent down, picked it up and examined it; it was unsigned.
He opened it out of curiosity, but the contents surprised him greatly.
Tucked inside the letter was a photograph of an unfamiliar boy, which, upon closer inspection, seemed somewhat familiar.
He looks remarkably like his deceased wife.
Who sent the letter?
And what is the purpose?
Was it merely to accuse Sophie and Conrad? Or was it to let him know that Colin's current growth was beneficial to the family's prosperity?
However, he could not tolerate being deceived by others.
Sophie and Conrad actually dared to deceive him!
That day, under the pretext of punishing his wife for lying, Robin engaged in a passionate and lengthy sexual encounter with a rather attractive maid in the castle.
