Raindrops dripped down the edge of Ye Fanshuang's umbrella, dripping onto the concrete floor. She stood at the school gate, her eyes fixed on two people not far away - Ye Qingliu and Bai Zhiye.
Ye Qingliu lowered his head slightly and handed the thermos cup to Bai Zhiye, with a faint smile on his lips. It was an expression Ye Fanshuang had never seen before - gentle, focused, and even a little doting.
Bai Zhiye took the cup and her fingertips accidentally touched his fingers. They both paused at the same time, and then separated as if nothing had happened.
Ye Fanshuang's nails dug into his palm unconsciously.
How long had she known Ye Qingliu? She had been watching him since a long time ago.
The young master of the Ye family was always calm and self-possessed, always aloof and indifferent, as if he had no interest in anything. But now, his ears would turn slightly red just because of a girl's touch.
"Hey, isn't this Miss Ye?"
A teasing voice came from behind, interrupting her thoughts. Ye Fanshuang turned around and saw several boys walking towards her. The leader was none other than Lin Xiuyuan, the second young master of the Lin family, followed by several idle young men.
Lin Xiuyuan held an umbrella with a playful smile on his face, his eyes moving back and forth between her and Ye Qingliu in the distance.
"What are you looking at? Oh——" He deliberately dragged out the tone and followed Ye Fanshuang's line of sight, "Young Master Ye and his little girlfriend."
Ye Fanshuang's fingers clenched violently around the umbrella handle, his knuckles turning white. "I heard they've been together for a long time," another boy interjected. "Ye Qingliu walks her home every day. Tsk tsk, I never thought the young master of the Ye family would be so romantic."
"That's right," Lin Xiuyuan laughed even more viciously. "Miss Ye, are you unable to get the love you want? Are you here like a peeping Tom, spying on other people's love affairs?"
Ye Fanshuang's chest heaved violently, but she quickly stabilized her breathing and glanced at them coldly.
"You guys have a lot of free time?" Her voice was eerily calm. "Are you ready for next week's monthly exam?"
Lin Xiuyuan was stunned for a moment, clearly not expecting her reaction like this. He raised an eyebrow and continued provocatively, "What? Did you get hit on the heartstrings? Miss Ye, you're not really still thinking about Ye Qingliu, are you? He won't even look you in the eye."
Ye Fanshuang's eyes suddenly turned cold.
She slowly turned around and looked directly at Lin Xiuyuan, a sneer on her lips.
"Lin Xiuyuan, have you forgotten that last month your father was still asking my grandfather to help him negotiate a project?"
Lin Xiuyuan's smile froze on his face.
"And you," Ye Fanshuang glanced at the other boys, "The Chen family's stock has fallen quite a bit recently, right? Second Young Master of the Li family, I heard your father is considering sending you abroad for 'further studies'?"
The expressions of several young masters changed instantly.
Ye Fanshuang laughed softly, her voice was light but as sharp as a knife.
"If you really have so much free time, why don't you go back and think about how to prevent your business from collapsing too quickly?"
After saying that, she walked towards the teaching building without looking back, her back straight and her steps graceful, as if everything that had just happened had nothing to do with her.
Lin Xiuyuan stood there, his face turning pale and blue, and finally he made a fierce "tsk" sound and turned away.
Ye Fanshuang walked into the teaching building, turned into the corridor, and only leaned against the wall and took a deep breath until she was sure that no one saw her.
Her fingers trembled slightly, and her chest felt like it was being tightly gripped by something, causing her to almost lose her breath due to the pain.
She is not a sore loser.
But why...it still feels so uncomfortable?
In the rain in the distance, Ye Qingliu and Bai Zhiye walked side by side towards the teaching building. Their umbrellas were very close to each other, as if they were in their own world that no one could get in.
Ye Fanshuang closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, his eyes had returned to calm.
She straightened her school uniform and walked towards the classroom.
——She, Ye Fanshuang, never needs anyone’s pity.
When Ye Fanshuang pushed open the classroom door, the bell for morning reading had just rung.
The rain outside had stopped, and the sun was pouring in through the French windows, making the entire classroom bright and warm. She walked straight to her seat - the third row by the window.
She could just see the scene at the school gate. Ye Qingliu's seat was diagonally in front of her and was still empty.
Most of the people in the classroom were already seated, and the math class representative Zhang Xuanhua was standing by the podium collecting homework.
He put one hand in his pocket and casually flipped through the homework book he handed in with the other hand. His black hair was swaying slightly and his light blue eyes swept over each page coldly.
"Lin Xiuyuan."
His voice was not loud, but it made Lin Xiuyuan, who was talking to someone in the back row, suddenly stiffen.
Zhang Xuanhua raised his eyes, the corners of his lips curled up slightly, but there was no smile in his eyes.
"You copied your homework from last year, didn't you?"
Lin Xiuyuan's face changed, and he forced himself to retort: "What nonsense are you talking about? I clearly wrote it myself!"
Zhang Xuanhua chuckled and pointed his finger at a line in the exercise book.
"There was a printing error in last year's reference answer for this question, and you copied it down exactly as it was."
The classroom was silent for a moment, and then a few bursts of uncontrollable laughter were heard.
Lin Xiuyuan's face flushed red, and he stood up suddenly: "Zhang Xuanhua! You——"
"What?" Zhang Xuanhua tilted his head slightly, his eyes suddenly cold. "Want to fight?"
His tone was light, but it inexplicably sent chills down one's spine.
Lin Xiuyuan froze in place, clenching and unclenching his fists, and finally sat back down in disappointment.
Ye Fanshuang watched this scene coldly, with no ripples in his heart.
