Zhou Yuan met Su Xinghui on the hottest day in London.
In June, the outdoor cafes on Regent Street were packed with tourists. Zhou Yuan, wearing Gucci sunglasses, stirred her iced Americano idly.
She came to the UK this time nominally to attend a summer language course, but in fact it was to avoid the turmoil in China - although those damn photos were suppressed by Lin Chen, some people in the circle were already whispering about them.
Zhou Yuan noticed someone approaching, and the moment she looked up, her pupils shrank slightly.
——The girl in front of her was even more beautiful than she had imagined.
The haze blue dress makes her temperament look cool, but her slightly upturned eyes are lively, contradictory yet charming.
"Excuse me, is anyone here?"
Su Xinghui's voice was clear, with just the right amount of politeness and distance.
Zhou Yuan quickly adjusted her expression and gave a standard social smile: "No, please sit down."
Su Xinghui pulled out a chair and sat down, her skirt falling to reveal a section of her fair calves. She placed her art history textbook on the table, her movements as graceful as if she were placing a precious collection.
Zhou Yuan's eyes involuntarily fell on her wrist - the silver bracelet.
She would never mistake the Ye family's iconic design.
"It's her indeed."
Zhou Yuan sneered inwardly, but remained expressionless. She took a sip of her coffee and asked casually, "Are you...Su Xinghui?"
Su Xinghui blinked, revealing a slightly surprised expression: "Do you know me?"
Zhou Yuan chuckled: "Ye Fanshuang's best friend, I've seen your photo on her circle of friends."
--lie.
She didn't add Ye Fanshuang on WeChat at all. She saw this face from Zhou Ziqian's investigation materials.
Su Xinghui tilted her head, and the smile on her lips deepened: "Ah, you are Fan Shuang's friend?"
"I guess so." Zhou Yuan sighed, her eyes dimming. "But there's been some misunderstandings recently... She might not want to pay attention to me."
Good acting.
Su Xinghui commented in her heart, but a look of concern appeared on her face: "What kind of misunderstanding is so serious?"
Zhou Yuan lowered her eyes, her long eyelashes casting a small shadow under her eyes. Her voice lowered a few degrees: "It's all my disappointing brother's fault... His business affairs have affected her."
"Oh? Zhou Ziqian?"
Su Xinghui sneered in her heart, but her face remained gentle: "Is that so... Fan Shuang has a bit of a stubborn temper, but it will be fine after a while."
Zhou Yuan raised her head, her eyes slightly red, as if she had suffered a great injustice: "I hope so..."
Su Xinghui looked at her like this and almost couldn't help laughing out loud.
Pretend, keep pretending.
She reached into her bag and pulled out her phone, shaking it casually. "Add WeChat? Fan Shuang's friends are my friends."
Zhou Yuan's eyes flashed with a hint of success, and she quickly took out her cell phone: "Okay!"
Scan the code and add it, all in one go.
Zhou Yuan looked at the new contact that popped up on her phone, and the corners of her mouth curled up slightly.
"The first step is completed."
She looked up and was about to say something, but saw Su Xinghui suddenly come closer and gently touch her collarbone with her fingertips.
"This necklace...is it a new model from Cartier? It's really beautiful."
Zhou Yuan was stunned for a moment, then touched the necklace proudly: "Yeah, I just bought it last month."
Su Xinghui took her hand back and smiled: "It suits you very well."
The sunlight shines through the glass window onto the two people. One is wearing a cool blue dress, and the other is wearing a bright black dress. They are like two paintings with very different styles but equally exquisite.
Other customers in the cafe would look over from time to time, with some expressing envy, some admiration, and some simply amazement.
No one noticed the coldness that flashed in Su Xinghui's eyes when she lowered her head to drink coffee.
"The game begins, Miss Zhou."
—————————————————————
The London nightscape was like melted dark chocolate, thick and sweet. Su Xinghui stood in front of the floor-to-ceiling window of her hotel suite, her fingertips gently tapping the champagne glass.
She had just taken a shower and was wearing only a silk nightgown. Water was still dripping from the ends of her hair, leaving dark marks on the beige carpet.
Outside the window, a cruise ship on the Thames slowly passed by, its lights dragging tiny golden ripples on the water.
She squinted her eyes and looked at the London Eye on the opposite bank - the lights of the Ferris wheel outlined a perfect circle in the night, like a huge, never-closed eye, staring coldly at the city.
The phone screen lit up, and a message from Zhou Yuan popped up:
[Would you like to come to my room for a drink? I brought some nice red wine~]
Su Xinghui stared at the tilde for three seconds before bursting into laughter. She turned and walked towards her wardrobe, her fingers wandering through a row of clothes before finally picking out a black slip dress from Versace—sexy enough, but not so low-cut as to seem contrived.
With a ding, the tablet on the dressing table lit up. Ye Fanshuang's stoic face appeared on the video call. She was at the gym, her hair damp with sweat, and beads of sweat adorned her collarbone.
"Did she ask you out?" Ye Fanshuang wiped his neck with a towel, his voice filled with a slight gasp after exercise.
Su Xinghui sprayed some perfume on her wrist. "Just sent a message. Do you think she's stupid or confident? She actually used such an old-fashioned trick."
Ye Fanshuang sneered: "The Zhou siblings have always had unique trains of thought." She suddenly leaned closer to the screen, "Are you sure you want to play? Her brother is..."
"If Zhou Ziqian dares to interfere," Su Xinghui said, applying lipstick in front of the mirror, the rosy paste melting between her lips, "I will send his father the evidence that he lost 300 million in the Macau casino."
