Chapter 221 Top Secret Flight

Before the hatch closed, she took a last look at Ye Qingliu standing on the runway - his short black hair fluttered in the wind, his gray-blue eyes were like polar glaciers, and he looked like a young god of war even though he was wearing a school uniform.

The cabin was unexpectedly spacious, with six leather seats, a small medical cabin, and even a simple kitchen.

Zhang Shumin has been placed on a medical bed and two doctors are treating her wounds.

"Please fasten your seat belts. We're taking off immediately," Captain Li announced over the PA system. "Estimated flight time: 5 hours and 20 minutes."

Feng Yulan held the armrest tightly as she felt the acceleration of the plane pushing her back.

When the feeling of weightlessness came over her, she saw through the window three black off-road vehicles rushing into the airport, and Ye Qingliu standing alone at the end of the runway, with a long gun in his hand.

"He'll be fine, right?" Feng Yulan asked the flight attendant who was pouring water for her - a "steward" with muscles as developed as a bodybuilder.

"Master Ye?" the flight attendant laughed. "The people of Jin Wancheng should be worried."

As the plane climbed above the clouds, Feng Yulan finally relaxed. She walked to the medical cabin, where Zhang Shumin had already received treatment and was resting with her eyes closed.

"Mom..." she called softly.

Zhang Shumin opened her eyes and said, "Yulan, sit down. I have something to tell you."

She recounted an incident that happened 28 years ago - when she was an accountant at Beishan Chemical Plant, she accidentally discovered that several reactors in the warehouse had been modified without permission, and the white powder produced was not the product registered by the factory at all.

She secretly copied the account books and transportation records, but witnessed Jin Wancheng's men killing three workers who discovered the truth.

"I wanted to call the police, but Jin Wancheng had already bribed half the police station," Zhang Shumin said, her voice trembling. "I hid the evidence in a safe and fled with my son, changing his name."

Feng Yulan held her mother-in-law's hand tightly: "So Zhang Shuo's father..."

"He was one of the workers who 'disappeared' in the chemical plant explosion," Zhang Shumin said with a wry smile. "I later married Old Zhang and gave Shuoer his last name."

The plane suddenly jolted, and the announcement came: "We're encountering turbulence. Please return to your seats."

Feng Yulan had just stood up when Zhang Shumin suddenly grabbed her wrist and said, "Yulan, the Ye family is not simple." She lowered her voice and said, "The Ye family was the major shareholder of the chemical plant back then."

Feng Yulan was struck by lightning: "Why did Qingliu..."

"I don't know." Zhang Shumin pulled out a small pistol from under her pillow—she hadn't seen it there before. "But we should always be on guard."

After returning to her seat, Feng Yulan's mind was in a mess.

Did Ye Qingliu know about this? Was he helping them out of justice, or was he trying to destroy the evidence? Outside the porthole, the setting sun dyed the sea of clouds blood-red, just like her chaotic thoughts at the moment.

"Ms. Feng?" Captain Li's voice came over the radio. "Young Master Ye wants to speak to you."

The front row screen lit up, and Ye Qingliu's face appeared on the screen. He was standing in a place that looked like a command center, with several surveillance screens in the background.

"The flight path is safe," he said straight to the point. "Jin Wancheng sent two helicopters in pursuit, but they were intercepted by our men."

Feng Yulan noticed that his right hand was bandaged and there was blood on his school uniform jacket: "Are you injured?"

"Just a scratch." Ye Qingliu said unconcernedly, "There's good news—we got the Beishan files."

The screen switched to a scene of a metal safe being opened, revealing a stack of yellowed documents and several old photos. Ye Qingliu picked up one of them and asked, "Do you recognize it?"

The photo showed a young Jin Wancheng grinning grimly beside a pile of white powder. The background was the reactor at the Beishan Chemical Plant. Feng Yulan gasped—the evidence was irrefutable.

"There's something even better." Ye Qingliu's voice was filled with cold amusement. "In the files there's a tape recording of Jin Wancheng and the then police chief dividing the loot. It's enough to overturn the case."

Feng Yulan suddenly thought of something: "Young Master Ye...was the Ye family the major shareholder of the chemical plant back then?"

There was silence on the other end of the screen for a few seconds. Ye Qingliu's expression became complicated. "Yes. My grandfather was unaware of this. It was the then-general manager who colluded with Jin Wancheng."

He stared directly into the camera. "That's why I must personally end this matter—to clear the stain on the Ye family."

His eyes were so frank that Feng Yulan couldn't help but believe him.

"Everything has been arranged in Singapore." Ye Qingliu returned to the main topic. "After landing, a special car will pick you up and take you to the Ye's Manor. I need Ms. Zhang to record a complete testimony by the day after tomorrow at the latest."

After the call ended, Feng Yulan found the plane had flown into the night. The flight attendant brought her dinner, but she had no appetite.

Her mother-in-law's words and Ye Qingliu's honesty were fighting in her mind, making her unable to decide who to believe.

"Ms. Feng, you should rest." The flight attendant handed her an eye mask. "We still have four hours to go."

Feng Yulan reluctantly ate some fruit and reclined in her seat. Just as she was about to doze off, the plane suddenly experienced a violent turbulence and the alarm blared.

"What's going on?" She sat up in panic.

Captain Li's voice came over the radio, unusually tense: "Unidentified fighter jets approaching! Everyone, prepare for impact!"

Feng Yulan stumbled towards the medical cabin. Zhang Shumin had already struggled to sit up. "Jin Wancheng's people?"

The plane suddenly dived, and Feng Yulan fell to the floor. Outside the window, a flash of fire streaked across the night sky—a missile!

"Hold on tight!" Captain Li yelled.

At the critical moment, the missile suddenly exploded in the air. Three fighter planes with the Ye clan emblem swooped down from the clouds and engaged in a tangle with the incoming enemy aircraft.

"The escort has arrived." The flight attendant could actually smile. "Master Ye is very thoughtful."
