Chapter 225 The Bloody Truth

"My mother-in-law..." Feng Yulan swallowed the words back at the tip of her tongue. "How is she?"

Uncle Chen smiled. "It's stable now. You can go see her, but don't stay too long."

In the medical room, Zhang Shumin lay with her eyes closed, the IV bag dripping quietly. Feng Yulan gently held her mother-in-law's hand: "Mom, do you need anything?"

Zhang Shumin opened her eyes a little and said weakly, "Yulan... the Ye family cannot be trusted."

"Why? They saved us and..."

"What a coincidence!" Zhang Shumin struggled to sit up. "Why did he just happen to be passing by? Why does he know so much about the Beishan archives?"

She suddenly grabbed Feng Yulan's wrist and said, "I suspect the Ye family was involved in the chemical plant incident!"

Feng Yulan felt a chill run down her spine. Suddenly, the screen on the wall lit up, and Ye Qingliu's voice rang out: "Operation begins, connection established."

The scene switches to an aerial view of an abandoned factory, where a dozen fully armed special police officers are gathering.

Ye Qingliu stood in the center wearing a bulletproof vest, deploying tactics with a tablet computer in his hand. His every move revealed a majesty that was inconsistent with his age.

"This is Jin Wancheng's drug manufacturing factory, three floors underground," he explained into his headset, his voice clearly transmitted to Singapore. "We have a two-hour window, and the local police have been distracted."

Feng Yulan was captivated by the scene, temporarily putting aside her doubts. Ye Qingliu waved his hand, and the assault team split into three groups and infiltrated the building. The real-time footage streamed from the team members' helmet cameras, so clear it felt like they were actually there.

Group A encountered resistance, and a firefight erupted instantly. Ye Qingliu calmly issued orders from the command vehicle: "Group B, outflanking, Group C, cutting off the retreat."

Gunfire, shouting, and explosions mingled. Feng Yulan covered her mouth as she watched a team member fall to the ground after being hit by a bullet. The medical team quickly dragged the wounded away. Ye Qingliu didn't even frown: "Sniper, second-floor window."

With a gunshot, the enemy gunman fell to the ground.

"He...he is really in command." Feng Yulan muttered to herself.

Zhang Shumin sneered: "See, how can a high school student have such ability? The Ye family's background is definitely not simple."

Half an hour later, the commandos stormed the second underground floor. The footage showed piles of raw and semi-finished drug products, a staggering amount.

Ye Qingliu personally led a team to search the office and found a secret door behind a wall.

"A safe," he said to the camera. "Probably contains the ledger."

A professional locksmith stepped forward and, with a click, the safe door slowly opened. Ye Qingliu put on gloves, took out a stack of documents, flipped through them, and suddenly his eyes focused: "Found it."

He held up a list densely packed with the names of officials and police officers who had accepted bribes, along with the amounts paid. Feng Yulan gasped—Zhang Shuo's name was prominently listed, with the following notation: "Inside the drug enforcement team, monthly payment of 50,000 yuan."

"Sure enough..." She smiled bitterly, "I'm really blind."

Ye Qingliu continued searching and found a hard drive in a secret compartment: "Jin Wancheng's black accounts are enough to execute him ten times."

At that moment, the alarm suddenly sounded. The surveillance camera in the command vehicle showed five armored vehicles approaching the factory at high speed.

"Jin Wancheng's reinforcements." Ye Qingliu remained calm. "Evacuate according to the plan and take away the key evidence."

The commandos quickly packed up their spoils and prepared to retreat, but Ye Qingliu walked deeper into the basement alone.

Feng Yulan held her breath and watched him kick open a rusty iron door.

Inside was a small prison, where three emaciated figures were chained to the wall. One of them looked up, and Feng Yulan nearly screamed: "It's Zhang Shuo!" His face was covered in blood, and his left eye was swollen shut. Where was his former arrogance?

"Save...save me..." Zhang Shuo pleaded hoarsely.

Ye Qingliu looked at him coldly: "Why did Jin Wancheng lock you up?"

"I...I embezzled the payment..." Zhang Shuo burst into tears, "I know I was wrong, please..."

Feng Yulan's stomach churned, feeling both nauseous and strangely happy. The man who had beaten her was now like a lost dog.

Ye Qingliu turned and left: "Take him away, he is an important witness."

The screen suddenly shook, and a deafening explosion erupted. Jin Wancheng's men blew open the factory's main gate, and a fierce exchange of fire broke out in the corridor.

Ye Qingliu pulled out his pistol, his movements so skillful that he didn't seem like a student.

"Cover the evacuation!" he shouted into the communicator, while simultaneously shooting down two enemies with precise bursts of fire.

Feng Yulan was stunned. The young man with gray-blue eyes remained calm as ice amidst the hail of bullets, each bullet taking out an enemy. He protected the team members as they brought Zhang Shuo and the evidence out, while he himself remained behind.

When the last person boarded the helicopter, Ye Qingliu jumped in. Just as the hatch closed, a bullet struck his shoulder, staining his tactical uniform red with blood.

"Young Master Ye!" Feng Yulan shouted unconsciously.

On the other side of the screen, Ye Qingliu simply frowned and pressed his wound: "Minor injury. Mission accomplished, returning home."

Before the connection was disconnected, Feng Yulan saw him take off his bulletproof vest to treat his wounds, revealing old scars all over his lean upper body - gunshot wounds, knife wounds, burns... He didn't look like the body of a pampered rich young man at all.

The screen went dark, and the only sound in the room was Feng Yulan's rapid breathing. She turned to her mother-in-law, wanting to say something, but found that the old woman had "fallen asleep" and the suspicious syringe was gone.

Back in her room, Feng Yulan tossed and turned, unable to sleep. At three in the morning, her satellite phone suddenly vibrated. She quickly picked it up: "Master Ye? Are you okay?"

"The wound has been treated." Ye Qingliu's voice was tired. "Zhang Shuo has been handed over to Interpol. He will receive the trial he deserves."
