Xi Wanrong's knees were still aching slightly. She was about to stand up, supporting herself on the shiny marble floor, when she suddenly felt a cold gaze.
The air seemed to freeze for a moment.
At the corner, a girl in a public high school uniform stood there quietly. She was slender, with long straight black hair that fell to her waist. She wore a sweatshirt over her school uniform, which made her skin look like snow.
There was no exaggerated expression, no unnecessary sound, she just watched it all quietly, like a finely crafted ice sculpture.
——Ye Fanshuang. The only daughter of the Ye Group.
Xi Wanrong's fingers curled unconsciously. This girl was completely different from the spoiled rich girl she'd imagined.
She exuded an uncomfortable chill, and her amber eyes seemed to be able to see through people's hearts.
Hua Jinyue let out a soft "tsk" sound, obviously annoyed by the appearance of this uninvited guest.
Ye Fanshuang walked slowly closer, his custom-made leather shoes making regular, light sounds as they stepped on the marble floor.
She stopped two steps away from Xi Wanrong and looked down at the "offender" who was sitting on the ground.
"Ye Qingliu," she said, her voice cold and clear, ignoring Xi Wanrong's presence. "Father asked me to tell you that next week's board meeting will be moved forward to Wednesday."
Ye Qingliu nodded slightly as a response.
The air became stagnant again. Xi Wanrong felt embarrassed. She tried to stand up, but found that Ye Fanshuang's eyes had finally fallen on her.
That look made her feel uneasy.
Not anger, not jealousy, but a creepy...assessment. Like looking at a commodity for sale, or an obstacle to be cleared.
"Your methods are very low-level." Ye Fanshuang suddenly spoke, her voice frighteningly calm. "Pretend to fall?" She tilted her head slightly. "Do you think he will help you?"
Xi Wanrong's throat tightened.
Ye Fanshuang didn't wait for an answer, but turned to look at Ye Qingliu: "This trick is very boring."
Ye Qingliu's expression remained unchanged. He simply raised his hand to straighten his cuffs and said, "Let's go."
Hua Jinyue chuckled and followed her brother. When they passed by Ye Fanshuang, the two girls exchanged a knowing look.
Xi Wanrong finally struggled to stand up, but found that Ye Fanshuang had not left yet.
The girl took out a silk handkerchief from her pocket and slowly wiped the place where Ye Qingliu had just stood - as if there was something unclean on it.
"Remember," Ye Fanshuang threw the used handkerchief into the trash can, his voice so soft that it was almost inaudible, "some things are not for you to touch."
Ye Fanshuang turned around and was about to leave, the hem of his school uniform drawing a cold arc in the air.
Xi Wanrong finally breathed a sigh of relief and tried to pick up her scattered handbag tremblingly.
But the moment she bent down, the cell phone slipped out of the open bag and hit the marble floor with a "bang".
The screen lights up.
——Ye Qingliu.
In the photo, he is standing under the bright lights of a shopping mall, his gray-blue pupils reflecting the image of the glass window, and the corners of his lips have a subtle curve, as if he is attracted by something interesting.
The shooting angle was obviously a candid shot, and one could even see Chen Wanrong's shadow hiding behind the pillar, blurred on the reflective glass.
The air suddenly froze.
Ye Fanshuang stopped.
She turned slowly, her eyes falling on the lit screen, her amber eyes drooping slightly, her eyelashes casting a shadow under her eyes.
——It was terrifyingly quiet.
There was no anger, no questioning, not even a trace of fluctuation.
Xi Wanrong's heart almost stopped beating. She suddenly reached out to grab the phone, but Ye Fanshuang was faster - the girl lightly lifted the tip of her leather shoe, and the phone slid to her feet.
Ye Fanshuang bent down to pick up the phone, and his fingertips gently slid across the screen, as if he was flipping through some precious collection.
The photos were flipped through one by one - Ye Qingliu was reading a book in a cafe, Ye Qingliu was opening the car door in the parking lot, Ye Qingliu was standing in the elevator and looking down at his watch... Every one of them was taken secretly.
Her movements were slow and gentle, as if she was just admiring an insignificant exhibition.
"……I see."
Her voice was very soft, as light as a feather falling on the snow, but it made Xi Wanrong's blood freeze instantly.
——Ye Qingliu is the person she has liked for more than ten years.
——And at this moment, she was so calm as if she had already expected all this.
Ye Fanshuang continued to flip through the photo album, and suddenly, his fingertips paused.
——Chaoyouye.
The boy in the photo sat in a corner of a dessert shop, a piece of strawberry cake in front of him, his short black hair gleaming in the sunlight. He looked down at his phone, the corners of his lips slightly raised, as if he was reading some interesting news.
The shooting angle is still a candid shot, and you can even see Xi Wanrong hiding behind the tree outside the store through the reflection of the glass window.
Ye Fanshuang stared at the photo for a few seconds and suddenly chuckled.
The laughter was very light and faint, but it sent a chill down Xi Wanrong's spine.
"...You are quite good at picking people."
She let go of her hand, and the phone fell to the ground with a "bang", and the cracks on the screen spread like a spider web.
Ye Fanshuang raised his eyes and looked at Xi Wanrong, his amber eyes were as calm as a bottomless lake.
"I suggest you disappear immediately."
Her voice was soft, but it carried an unquestionable command.
"Otherwise, I cannot guarantee that you can continue to survive in this city."
After saying that, she turned and left, her back straight and indifferent, as if everything that had just happened was just the crushing of an insignificant ant.
