"What are you angry about?" Her voice was very soft, but the whole classroom could hear it clearly.
Wang Jia walked up to her, his newly made acrylic nails tapping on the table. "I heard that some people pretend to be generous on the surface, but they hold grudges behind the scenes."
Ning Xiwan closed her book, her silk shirt rippled with her movements. She stood up and pulled a thermos from her bag, the metal gleaming in the sunlight.
"You're right." Ning Xiwan smiled slightly and gently unscrewed the cup lid with her fingers.
Before she could react, Ning Xiwan flipped her wrist.
"Wow!"
The bright yellow mango juice drew a perfect parabola in the air and splashed accurately onto Wang Jia's Chanel dress. The sticky juice dripped down the hem of her dress, forming a small yellow puddle at her feet.
The whole classroom was silent.
"Ning Xiwan!" Wang Jia's scream nearly blew the roof off the room. "Are you crazy?! This dress costs over 30,000!"
Ning Xiwan slowly and methodically closed the thermos cup, and the lid made a slight "click" sound.
She tilted her head, the sunlight casting tiny specks of light on her face. "Sorry, I didn't hold it steady."
She paused, the corners of her lips curled up perfectly: "How much is your skirt? I'll compensate you."
Wang Jia's face turned from red to white, and then from white to blue.
She pointed at Ning Xiwan with a trembling hand, her carefully styled curls bursting out in anger: "You...you..."
At this moment, the professor pushed the door open and walked in. The old professor adjusted his glasses and looked at Wang Jia, who was covered in juice: "My classmate, you..."
"Professor," Ning Xiwan raised her hand and said in a clear voice, "Student Wang accidentally spilled a drink on himself. He may need to change his clothes."
The professor looked at Wang Jia's embarrassed look and nodded: "Then go quickly, don't delay the class."
Wang Jia was in a dilemma and could only glare at Ning Xiwan fiercely, then rushed out of the classroom with gritted teeth.
Her friends hurriedly followed, and one of them even threatened before leaving: "Ning Xiwan, you wait!"
Ning Xiwan sat back down in her seat, the sunlight falling on her textbook once again. She gently brushed away the nonexistent dust on her desk and smiled faintly at the air: "Okay, I'll wait."
Gasps echoed throughout the classroom. Everyone looked at this usually low-key transfer student with a new perspective. The sun was still as gentle as ever, but now no one thought Ning Xiwan was the slum girl who could be bullied at will.
At three o'clock in the afternoon, Ning Xiwan sat in the corner of the library with "International Finance" spread out in front of her.
The sunlight shone through the floor-to-ceiling windows, forming a halo around her.
Her phone vibrated. It was a link forwarded by Ye Qing. She clicked it and saw a popular post on the campus forum:
"A female student named Ning from the Finance Department bullied others by throwing drinks at her classmates in public!"
The post was extremely exaggerated and included a photo of Lin Yan's skirt being destroyed. The comment section was already in an uproar:
"Isn't this too much?"
"Is it so great to be rich?"
"I heard her family has a strong background, and the principal has to give her face..."
Ning Xiwan chuckled, tapped her finger on the screen, and replied directly with her real name:
[Ning Xiwan]: Why don’t you talk about the time when Lin Yan poured Coke all over me in the cafeteria yesterday?
[Ning Xiwan]: By the way, I have a bad temper. If anyone spreads rumors again, I will see you at the school’s disciplinary committee.
Her reply was like a stone thrown into a calm lake, stirring up a thousand waves. In less than a minute, the post showed as deleted.
A few minutes later, a text message came from an unfamiliar number: "Mr. Ning, I'm sorry, we didn't know you were from the Ning family..."
Ning Xiwan tossed her phone back into her bag. The sunlight shone on her profile, outlining her perfect features. She sighed softly and continued to read. The golden sunlight danced on the pages, as if nothing had happened.
In the evening, Ning Xiwan walked out of the library. The setting sun stretched her shadow very long, and the shadow of the sycamore tree was cast in patches on the ground.
She saw Wang Jia and her best friends standing not far away, and they hid away like frightened birds when they saw her.
The phone rang. It was a video call from Duan Shuce. When Ning Xiwan answered, that handsome face appeared on the screen.
"I heard that you put on a good show in the classroom today?" Duan Shuce's voice was filled with a smile.
Ning Xiwan raised her phone high, letting the sunset light fall on her face: "Why, even you know about this?"
Duan Shuce raised his eyebrows, "Do you need my help?"
Ning Xiwan shook her head, her hair shimmering golden in the sunset: "No need, it's already been resolved."
Duan Shuce chuckled softly, his eyes gentle on the other side of the screen: "My Wanwan is really amazing."
Ning Xiwan raised her chin proudly, the setting sun gilding her face. "Of course."
——After all, she is Ning Xiwan.
