Chapter 241 Ning Family Trial

The rain was pouring down, and the raindrops as big as beans hit the glass dome of the Ning family villa, making a dense knocking sound.

Ning Xiuyan's Rolls-Royce Phantom slowly drove into the courtyard, its headlights piercing the rain curtain and illuminating the modern sculpture worth tens of millions in the center of the courtyard.

As he got out of the car with his custom-made cane, the butler immediately came up to him holding a black umbrella.

"Second Young Master, the master and the mistress are waiting for you in the living room." The butler's voice was unclear in the sound of rain.

In the living room, Ning Yuanshan was flipping through the latest issue of "Finance" magazine. The sound of his slender fingers turning the pages of coated paper was crisp and pleasant.

Ning's mother, Ji Qinglan, was holding a bone china teacup with an iris pattern custom-made for the Ning family.

She took a sip of Darjeeling black tea, her red lips leaving a faint mark on the rim of the cup.

"Are you back?" Ning Yuanshan didn't even raise his head, his voice as cold as if he was asking about today's stock market conditions.

He was wearing a Giorgio Armani lounge suit, the silk fabric shimmering softly in the light.

Ning Xiuyan slammed his cane down on the marble floor, the dull thud echoing through the high-ceilinged living room. "Dad! Ning Xiwan had someone beat me up!"

His voice trembled with anger and veins popped in his neck.

Ning Xiwan was walking down the spiral staircase and almost laughed out loud when she heard this.

She was wearing a simple Theory white T-shirt and Frame jeans today, with Gucci loafers on her feet. Her hair was casually tied into a ponytail, and she looked like an ordinary college student.

"Second brother, what are you talking about?" She blinked her innocent big eyes, her long eyelashes cast tiny shadows under the light, and her amber pupils were clear.

She pulled her student ID from her pocket, her movements smooth as if she'd rehearsed it countless times. "Look, I stayed up all night studying in the library last Friday night, and I still have the checkout record."

The timestamp on the certificate is clearly visible, and the signature of the librarian is also affixed next to it.

Ning Xiuyan was shaking with anger, tapping his cane on the ground in a chaotic rhythm: "You're talking nonsense! It was obviously you—"

"Xiu Yan!" Ji Qinglan put down the teacup. The sound of porcelain colliding was crisp and pleasant, and the jade bracelet made a "ding" sound when it hit the coffee table. "Watch your words."

She wore a Harry Winston diamond necklace today. Each diamond was at least 3 carats, reflecting a cold glow under the light.

Ning Yuanshan finally raised his head, his sharp eyes scanning between the two people, as if examining two merger proposals: "Do you have any evidence?"

His voice was eerily calm, the quiet before the storm.

Ning Yunmeng came in from the side hall holding a glass of red wine, her red-soled high heels making no sound as they stepped on the carpet.

She was wearing a Versace deep-V neck dress today, her red lips curled up in a sarcastic arc: "Second brother, are you taking laxatives that have ruined your brain?"

She shook the crystal glass, and the 1982 Lafite drew an elegant arc in the glass.

"You!" Ning Xiuyan was about to explode when he suddenly started coughing violently and his face turned red.

His stomach hadn't fully recovered yet, and the slightest excitement would cause cramps. His expensive custom-made shirt was soaked with cold sweat and stuck to his back.

Ji Qinglan sighed, stood up and helped his son sit down.

The faint scent of Jo Malone Blue Bell perfume on her body lingered on Ning Xiuyan's nose. It was the scent of his mother that he had been familiar with since childhood.

"Have some hot tea first."

She turned to Ning Xiwan and said softly, her voice as gentle as if she was coaxing a child, "Xiwan, pour your second brother a glass of water."

Ning Xiwan nodded obediently, but when she turned around, the corners of her mouth curled up in an almost invisible arc.

Ning Yuanshan closed the magazine, his platinum cufflinks gleaming coldly under the light. "Xiu Yan, you know the rules of our Ning family."

His voice was steady, each word measured with precision. "To make an accusation without evidence is to slap oneself in the face."

Ning Xiuyuan emerged from his study, iPad Pro in hand. He was wearing Brunello Cucinelli casual wear, meticulously crafted, even his slippers were custom-made by Berluti.

The eyes behind the lenses scanned everyone in the living room, finally stopping on the tablet.

"I've checked." He placed the tablet on the ebony coffee table. A high-definition surveillance video was displayed on the screen. "Xi Wan was indeed in the library on Friday night."

In the video, Ning Xiwan was wearing a white sweatshirt and was buried in a pile of books, taking notes from time to time.

Ning Xiuyan's eyes widened, bloodshot from anger. "This is impossible! She clearly—"

"Mingming what?" Ning Xiwan handed him the warm water, and the water droplets condensed on the wall of the glass slid down her slender fingers.

Her nails were neatly trimmed and painted with a light nude polish, looking clean and healthy.

"Second brother, have you offended someone and you dare not admit it?" Her voice was as soft as a feather brushing past, but it made Ning Xiuyan feel a chill on his back.

Ning Yunmeng suddenly laughed out loud, the light reflected from the red wine glass dancing on her face: "I heard that the young master of the Ye family was also hospitalized last week?"

She looked at Ning Xiuyan meaningfully, her red lips curved into a dangerous arc. "Broken right hand? What a coincidence."

The air in the living room froze instantly. The ticking of the grandfather clock's second hand suddenly became distinct, tick, tick, tick, like a countdown.

Ji Qinglan gently patted the back of her husband's hand. This action seemed gentle, but it actually carried a warning.

Ning Yuanshan understood and cleared his throat, his voice as deep as a cello: "Xiu Yan, the matter of the Ye family ends here."
