The VIP channel was indeed unobstructed. After the staff checked the black card and ticket handed over by Ning Xiwan, they led them in respectfully.
The passage was covered with thick carpet, blocking out most of the noise outside.
However, just as they were about to enter the inner area, a somewhat surprised and uncertain voice came from the side:
"Ye...Ye Qingliu-san? Hua Jinyue-san?"
The four of them paused at the same time.
Following the sound, I saw several students wearing the same school uniform as Ye Qingliu and Hua Jinyue standing nearby. They were obviously queuing to enter through the general ticket channel.
The boy in the lead, who was wearing black-framed glasses and looked like a class leader, was looking at them in astonishment.
Her eyes were particularly shocked as she looked back and forth between the strawberry hairpin on Ye Qingliu's forehead and the little yellow duck on Duan Shuce's head, her expression as if she saw Godzilla dancing ballet.
"Are you really the ones?" The boy with glasses pushed up his glasses, his tone filled with disbelief. "Didn't you... ask for leave saying something was wrong at home? And Duan Shuce?"
He obviously also knew this celebrity from the public high school next door. His eyes swept across the duck above Duan Shuce's head, and his expression became even more distorted.
The air seemed to freeze for a moment.
The smile on Hua Jinyue's face disappeared instantly, and a hint of vigilance and displeasure at being disturbed flashed in his big eyes.
Duan Shuce's brows furrowed slightly, and the air pressure around him dropped silently by a few degrees.
Ye Qingliu still had no expression, but his gray-blue eyes swept over lightly, calm and without any ripples, but with an invisible sense of distance, as if the other person was just an insignificant signpost.
Ning Xiwan reacted the fastest.
An impeccable social smile with a hint of "What a coincidence" immediately appeared on her face, and her body naturally took half a step forward, cleverly separating the inquiring gaze from Ye Qingliu and his sister.
She shook the ticket stub with the gold-plated VIP words in her hand, her tone relaxed with a touch of just the right sense of superiority: "It's an impromptu event arranged by my family. I happened to have tickets given by a friend, so I brought my brothers and sisters here to relax. How come, classmate Wang is also interested in Sara Lin?"
She accurately pointed out the other person's surname, and it was obvious that she had some understanding of Ye Qingliu's classmates of the same grade.
The man with glasses named Wang was dazzled by Ning Xiwan's smile and the eye-catching VIP ticket stub. He also felt Ye Qingliu's cold and almost indifferent gaze, as well as the low pressure of "keep away from strangers" emanating from Duan Shuce, and suddenly felt a little uneasy.
The classmates behind him were also looking at the strange combination here with curiosity and fear - the most beautiful girl in the Ye family had a strawberry on her forehead, the academic genius next door had a yellow duck on his head, and there was Hua Jinyue who had a sweet smile but wore a gorgeous Lolita dress and had a somewhat unpredictable look in her eyes.
"Ah... yes, yes, I like it very much." The man with glasses smiled awkwardly, but he couldn't help but glance at Ye Qingliu's forehead.
"Then...then I won't bother you anymore, let's go find a seat first."
He finished speaking hurriedly, pulled his companions away quickly, as if there was some ferocious beast behind them.
It wasn't until those classmates disappeared into the crowd in the ordinary passage that Hua Jinyue curled her lips and muttered quietly, "What a bummer."
"Don't worry, don't worry," Ning Xiwan waved her hand nonchalantly and held Duan Shuce's arm again. "It's just a small incident. Let's go, our good position is calling!"
She led Duan Shuce into the inner court entrance first. Hua Jinyue immediately regained her excitement and jumped to follow.
Ye Qingliu walked at the end, his gaze calmly sweeping across the direction where the classmates had just disappeared, without any ripples in his eyes.
He raised his hand and gently touched the strawberry hairpin on his forehead with his fingertips again. His movement was extremely natural, as if he was just brushing away a wisp of non-existent dust.
Then he put down his hand and walked steadily into the bright lights and deafening sounds ahead.
The VIP prime area in the inner arena offered a view so expansive it bordered on luxurious. The massive stage was within easy reach, yet no one was on it. The dazzling array of lights had already begun warming up, beams of light slicing through the dry ice-filled air like sharp swords.
The low drum beats and hum of electricity from the debugging speakers hit my chest again and again, causing the ground beneath my feet to tremble slightly.
Ning Xiwan's seat was in the middle. She excitedly pulled Duan Shuce to sit down, and then pushed Ye Qingliu to the seat on the other side of her.
Hua Jinyue sat down next to her brother, holding the pink and white cat-ear helmet in her arms, her eyes bright as she looked around.
"Wow! So close! I feel like Sister Sara will see us!" Hua Jinyue excitedly grabbed Ye Qingliu's arm and shook it.
Ye Qingliu hummed an "hmm" as a response, but his eyes fell on the complicated lifting devices and lighting stands on the stage, with an almost scrutinizing concentration, as if analyzing their engineering structure and load-bearing principles.
Duan Shuce sat upright, his face still cool, but the silly little yellow duck on his head looked even more out of place under the psychedelic lights.
He felt the warmth of Ning Xiwan leaning towards him, and his body stiffened slightly, then relaxed, letting her arm touch his.
Just as the lights in the auditorium dimmed, leaving only the stage as the sole focus, the last suspenseful background music before the show began sounded, and the audience held their breath in anticipation.
Ning Xiwan suddenly moved again. As if remembering some important mission, she began to rummage through her small, treasure-chest-like chain bag again.
Ye Qingliu and Duan Shuce tensed up almost at the same time, their eyes scanning her with an almost alert look.
Sure enough! Ning Xiwan took out a few small fluorescent sticks, the outlines of which could be clearly seen even in dim light—pink, blue, and yellow.
