Chapter 264: Hot Pot Remaining Heat

Ning Xiwan ate so much that her nose was sweating and her lips were red from the spiciness, but she still couldn't put down her chopsticks. She gasped for air while reaching for the plate of small liver covered with chili powder.

Duan Shuce frowned and pushed her orange juice cup to her hand for the third time.

Hua Jinyue's face also turned red from the spiciness. She kept drinking iced coconut milk, but her eyes were still fixed on the spicy beef boiling in the pot, eager to try it.

Only Ye Qingliu remained committed to the clear soup. He ate slowly and leisurely, his plate filled with warming and nourishing ingredients like mushrooms, bamboo fungus, and lamb's head.

Occasionally, he would use the tip of his long chopsticks to accurately pick up a piece of perfectly cooked baby cabbage heart from the edge of the red soup pot, quickly rinse off the red oil on the surface in the clear soup, and then put it into his mouth.

His movements were elegant and restrained, in stark contrast to the two guys next to him who were hissing from the spiciness.

However, his eating speed slowed down noticeably. Sometimes he would pause for a few seconds with food in his chopsticks, his eyes slightly blank, as if he was gathering strength to continue chewing.

The hot steam rising from the hot pot surrounded him, casting a soft halo on his handsome and cold profile and magnifying his subtle sleepiness.

"Hiss...so satisfying!" Ning Xiwan finally finished the last piece of liver, collapsed contentedly in the large mahogany chair, took a big sip of ice orange juice, and felt her whole body was penetrated by the spiciness.

The last portion of brown sugar glutinous rice cake on the table was served. The golden and crispy fried glutinous rice cake pieces were covered with delicate brown sugar syrup and fragrant soybean powder.

This is Ning Xiwan's favorite.

Her eyes lit up, and she immediately picked up the serving chopsticks to pick it up. The glutinous rice cake was freshly fried and coated in syrup, so hot and sticky that Ning Xiwan tried twice to pick it up but failed, and it almost fell back onto the plate.

"Tsk!" She was a little anxious.

At this moment, a hand with distinct joints and slender fingers reached out, and with steady and precise movements, it used long chopsticks to pick up a piece of glutinous rice cake of appropriate size and evenly coated with sugar, and placed it steadily into the bone dish in front of her.

Although the movements were still smooth, there was a subtle lag.

Ning Xiwan looked in the direction of the chopsticks and saw Ye Qingliu.

After he had done all this, he withdrew his hand. Instead of picking up his cup immediately as usual, he leaned back slightly in his chair and closed his eyes almost imperceptibly, as if the simple action just now had consumed his remaining energy.

"Thanks, son! You are so thoughtful!" Ning Xiwan immediately smiled, picked up the glutinous rice cake, and took a big bite with satisfaction. The outer layer was crispy, and the inside was soft and glutinous. The sweetness of brown sugar and the fragrance of soybean powder intertwined in her mouth, burning her so much that she breathed hard, but her face was full of happiness.

Seeing Ye Qingliu taking a nap with his eyes closed, she unconsciously lowered her voice.

Hua Jinyue also took a piece and ate it in small bites. Her big eyes lingered on her brother's face with his eyes closed for a few seconds, and she whispered to Ning Xiwan, "Sister Wanwan, brother seems really sleepy."

Duan Shuce put down his chopsticks, picked up his phone, checked the time, and said directly to the waiter standing beside him, "Check out."

After eating and drinking, the box was filled with the warm aroma of food and a faint sense of satisfaction.

Hua Jinyue rubbed her slightly swollen belly and sighed contentedly, "I'm so full... Sister Wanwan's picks are truly the best!"

Ning Xiwan also slumped in her chair, too lazy to move. She took out her phone and habitually checked her social media to see if anyone had captured any exciting moments from the concert.

As soon as I swiped my finger across the screen, an unread message from "Mr. Miejue" (note: counselor Teacher Li) popped up, and the time displayed was half an hour ago.

[Teacher Li]: Ning Xiwan, regarding your absence from the "Introduction to Western Economics" evening class tonight without reason, please be sure to come to my office at 9:00 am tomorrow.

We need to have a good talk. Also, did a classmate report seeing you near the Marina Sports Center this evening? Hopefully, it was a misunderstanding. See you tomorrow.

The contentment on Ning Xiwan's face froze instantly, and turned into a look of "It's over".

"What's wrong?" Duan Shuce noticed the change in her expression.

"Here," Ning Xiwan thrust her phone screen in front of him, her face weeping. "Nun Miejue summoned me... to the office for 'tea' tomorrow at nine o'clock. She also said a classmate 'suspected' of seeing me in the gym... This is incredibly efficient!"

She wailed and buried her face in her arms. "It's over, it's over. I have to listen to her sermon again. I might even have to write a self-criticism! My credits are gone!"

Hua Jinyue came over to take a look, and a look of sympathy appeared on her little face: "Ah? The counselor is so annoying! Sister Wanwan, don't be afraid! Do you want Jinyue to help you..." Her big eyes began to flash with a "dangerous" light again.

"Stop!" Ning Xiwan immediately looked up and looked at her warily, "Put away those 'technical tricks' of yours! If your brother finds out, he'll definitely kill us both!"

She had not forgotten Hua Jinyue's previous "bold words" about hacking into the school attendance system.

Ye Qingliu naturally heard it too. He slowly opened his eyes, the weariness in his eyes still not completely dissipated, but his clear mind had returned.

He looked at Ning Xiwan calmly: "Which teacher? Li Shuping?"

"Yes, yes, yes! It's her! 'Mrs. Miejue' Li Ma!" Ning Xiwan nodded vigorously, as if she had grabbed a life-saving straw.

Ye Qingliu said nothing, but took out his cell phone. His cell phone was specially made, with an extremely simple appearance.

He moved his fingertips quickly and silently on the screen, as if looking up something, and then dialed a number.

The call was answered almost instantly.

Ye Qingliu put the phone to his ear, his voice was as cold and steady as always, but if you listened carefully, you could discern a subtle hint of sleepiness in his voice, slowing down his pace: "Uncle Chen, it's me.
