Chapter 276: Worsening Condition

The ECG monitor sounded a shrill alarm! The previously regular green lines on the screen twisted and jumped wildly!

"Chao Youye!" Mu Xinrong was frightened to death and instinctively pounced on him to hold down his violently spasming body to prevent him from hurting himself.

He looked at the pale silver mark in horror—

I saw that the mark that was originally just a light silver, tattoo-like mark, now emitted a strange, faint blue light from deep within the skin!

The light was like a living thing, flowing and flickering rapidly between the complex lines! Every flicker was accompanied by a violent twitch of Chao Youye's body and an even more painful groan!

It was as if the mark was not carved into the skin, but was branded directly into the core of his soul, and was now being ignited and burned from within by a violent force!

"Doctor! Doctor, come quickly!" Mu Xinrong's voice completely changed. He roared with a desperate cry, and held down Chao Youye's frantically struggling body with both hands.

However, he felt that the power erupting from that body was astonishingly great, with an inhuman, violent feeling on the verge of collapse!

The doctor and nurse on duty rushed in again and were also shocked by the scene before them.

"Hold him down! Sedative! Maximum dose!" The doctor's face changed drastically. He quickly instructed the nurse to prepare another syringe, while checking the monitor and Chao Youye's condition.

"Damn it! Why is the temperature soaring again?! The pupils are dilated! Respiratory failure! Prepare for intubation!"

Chaos! Utter chaos!

The icy liquid was quickly pushed into the vein. It took the combined efforts of several people to barely suppress Chao Youye's violent struggle.

The nurses frantically prepared the intubation equipment. The ECG monitor's alarm blared like a death knell.

Mu Xinrong was pushed aside, his body leaning against the cold wall, and he slid down to the ground weakly.

He watched the medical staff busily busying around the bed, watched the pale silver mark on Chao Youye's twitching wrist flash a dark blue, ominous light, watched the oxygen mask being removed, watched the cold instrument probe into the other person's unconscious mouth...

The immense fear and helplessness were like an icy tide, instantly drowning and freezing him completely.

He opened his mouth, but no sound came out. Only tears rolled down uncontrollably and hit the cold floor.

---Why?

———Why is this happening?

What exactly is that cold imprint of rules doing to him?

At this apex of chaos on the brink of despair—

On the hospital bed, Chao Youye's body suddenly stiffened after one last violent spasm due to the stimulation of the intubation and the effect of a large dose of sedatives. Then, like a puppet with its strings cut, it completely collapsed and did not move.

The lines on the ECG monitor were jumping wildly, but after a brief period of disorder, they actually... strangely... began to stabilize?

Although his heart rate was still very fast and his breathing required machine assistance, the violent, near-death fluctuations had disappeared.

And on the inside of his wrist, the complex imprint that had just been emitting a faint blue light and twisting like a living thing, its light quickly faded away like the tide.

Within a few seconds, the faint blue light completely disappeared, and the mark itself seemed to have exhausted all its energy, its color becoming extremely pale and gray, like faded old ink, quietly imprinted on the pale and fragile wrist, no longer moving.

It was as if the terrifying outbreak just now was just a fleeting nightmare.

The ward fell into deathly silence.

There was only the regular inflation sound of the ventilator and the relatively steady beeping sound of the monitor.

The doctors and nurses looked at each other, their faces filled with shock and great confusion.

Mu Xinrong slumped on the cold ground, his back against the wall, his whole body exhausted, as if he had just been pulled out of the water, and soaked in cold sweat.

He was gasping for breath, his chest heaving violently, and tears were still flowing uncontrollably.

He stared intently at the figure on the hospital bed who had fallen into a deep coma again, his face pale but finally no longer convulsing violently. His gaze was finally fixed on the pale wrist, the gray mark that seemed extremely quiet and fragile at this moment.

An icy chill, even stronger than the wind and snow outside the window, climbed up his spine and froze his blood.

That's not the end.

That strange blue light, that inhuman violent force...that is definitely not an ordinary disease!

That was the rule itself, imprinted in the core of the god, emitting an ominous scream before collapse!

This world line, along with the existence in it that has just begun to reveal "pain" and "tears", is sliding towards an irreversible abyss!

What...should he do...?
