Chapter 278: Snowy Night Return and Hot Porridge

He shivered as the cold plastic seat touched his skin, but his heart felt at ease. With Qingliu here, he wouldn't have to carry the burden alone.

When Ye Qingliu saw him sitting down, he looked away and turned to walk towards the nurse on duty who was standing behind the nurses' station and looked a little helpless.

His demeanor changed instantly, with a touch of politeness that was just right for his status as an "excellent student."

"Hello." Ye Qingliu's voice was steady and clear. "I'm a friend of the patient. Could you please give me a copy of the emergency room record, medication list, and all vital signs monitoring data? Thank you."

His tone was polite and his words were precise, but the calmness and subtle strength that emanated from him made the young nurse subconsciously feel convinced and pressured.

"Ah? Oh... OK, sure! Right away!" The nurse was stunned for a moment, then quickly nodded in agreement and turned around to operate the computer and printer.

Ye Qingliu nodded slightly in thanks, then stood quietly, waiting. His posture was as straight as a pine tree, and his coat was not stained by a single stain of melted snow. His cleanliness was reassuring.

Mu Xinrong sat on the chair, looking at Ye Qingliu's tall back, his tense nerves completely relaxed, followed by overwhelming fatigue.

He leaned back against the cold chair, his eyelids so heavy he could barely lift them. But his heart was warm and at ease. "The clear stream is coming, and everything will be fine," he thought drowsily.

The nurse quickly returned with a stack of printed papers and handed them to Ye Qingliu: "It's all here, this is..."

"Thank you." Ye Qingliu took the stack of papers, without even glancing at them, folded them in half smoothly, and then stuffed them very naturally into the inside pocket of his black coat, which looked very valuable.

The movement was casual and efficient, as if it was just a very ordinary matter.

Mu Xinrong looked at it without any surprise in his heart, only a sense of relief that "it is as expected".

Qingliu has always been decisive and efficient in doing things.

Ye Qingliu nodded slightly to the nurse again, then turned and walked back to the bed. This time, his eyes fell on Chao Youye's right hand, which was receiving an IV.

The hand was pale and cold, with adhesive tape on the back of the hand, and the needle was connected to a transparent liquid medicine. Ye Qingliu looked at it silently for two seconds, and then he made a move that made Mu Xinrong's eyes warm again.

He stretched out his bony, extremely clean hand, and very carefully avoided the needle and tape, and gently lifted the wrist of the hand that was receiving the infusion towards Youye.

His movements were gentle, with an almost deliberate tenderness and caution, as if he were handling an extremely fragile treasure.

Then, he carefully placed Chao Youye's cold hand back under the slightly thin white quilt covering his body.

After putting it in place, he seemed to feel that it was not enough, and stretched out his fingers to tuck the corner of the quilt carefully, bit by bit, to ensure that the hand and arm were properly wrapped in the warm quilt without leaving any gaps.

Tuck in the quilt!

The movements were gentle and focused, with a clumsy but extremely sincere concern.

Mu Xinrong looked at this scene, and the panic and grievance that had accumulated all night, mixed with a huge sense of warmth and security, suddenly broke through the dam.

He sniffed hard, holding back the tears that surged up in his eyes. Qingliu... he looked so cold, but his heart was softer than anyone else's.

After Ye Qingliu finished all this, he stood up, as if he had just completed an ordinary tidying action.

His expression remained calm, but Mu Xinrong felt that the icy lines of his face seemed to soften a little. Perhaps it was an illusion.

He turned to Mu Xinrong, his gray-blue eyes fixed on Mu Xinrong's wet, cold, and thin clothes through the lenses.

"You," his voice was still calm and cold, but it was filled with undeniable concern, "come with me. He needs a better environment."

He gestured towards Chao Youye on the bed and said, "Not here."

There was no explanation of what a “better environment” meant, nor was Mu Xinrong’s opinion asked.

Ye Qingliu's words carried a kind of tacit understanding and responsibility between friends that required no words - follow me, I'll make the arrangements.

Mu Xinrong nodded without any hesitation: "Okay!" His voice was hoarse from surviving a disaster and full of complete trust.

Ye Qingliu nodded slightly, said nothing more, and turned to walk towards the nurses' station. Mu Xinrong quickly stood up from the chair. Although his body was still tired and stiff, his steps were much lighter.

"Hello," Ye Qingliu said to the nurse, his tone polite yet unquestionable. "The patient's condition requires transfer to another hospital for emergency discharge. Please complete the procedures as soon as possible. I will take responsibility."

He didn't even make up excuses like "guardian's authorization", but simply stated the facts calmly. His calm and confident aura made the nurse subconsciously choose to obey.

"Okay...Okay, Mr. Ye, I'll do it right away!" The nurse obviously recognized him and did not dare to delay, so she immediately lowered her head to operate.

The formalities were handled exceptionally quickly. Ye Qingliu remained silent throughout the entire process, simply standing there quietly, waiting, like a stabilizing force.

Mu Xinrong stood beside him, looking at his calm profile, and for the first time felt that the smell of disinfectant was not so unpleasant.

Soon, a black car with smooth lines, low-key yet luxurious appearance glided silently to the door of the clinic.

The uniformed driver got out of the car and respectfully opened the back door for Ye Qingliu.

Ye Qingliu signaled the nurses and caregivers to help, and carefully transferred Chao Youye, who was still unconscious and connected to a portable oxygen cylinder, to the back seat of the car.
