Ning Yunmeng didn't know how she left the ward filled with disinfectant, the smell of death and Qin Yuheng's devilish whispers.
Memories are broken, bloodstained fragments.
A shrill alarm.
The figures of medical staff rushing in.
Qin Yuheng's handsome face, with its cruel and joyful smile, was distorted and blurred in his vision.
And the last time he leaned over, before she completely lost consciousness, he whispered in her ear like a venomous snake:
"The game isn't over yet, Yunmeng... Go home. Go back to your 'home'... There, there's one last scene waiting for you..."
"Home"?
This word was like a red-hot iron, scalding her chaotic consciousness.
The darkness faded, and the biting cold and bumpy feeling made her open her eyes suddenly!
She found herself huddled in the back seat, wrapped in an unfamiliar men's coat that smelled faintly of tobacco.
Outside the car window was the familiar winding mountain road leading to the Ning family villa complex. The halos of streetlights blurred into blurry lines as we sped along.
The driver was a strange man with an expressionless face and wearing a black suit - obviously the person "arranged" by Qin Yuheng.
"Ugh..." Her throat burned with pain, accompanied by a strong smell of blood. She subconsciously raised her hand to wipe the corner of her mouth, her fingertips touching a dried, blackened blood scab.
There was a dull pain in my heart as if it was being pressed by a huge rock, and every breath was accompanied by a tearing pain.
Qin Yuheng...he sent her back to the Ning family?
What does the phrase "the last act" mean?
She didn't know what was waiting for her, but the play directed by that madman Qin Yuheng would definitely not be a tender and tender redemption.
The car came to a steady stop in front of the Ning family's brightly lit villa, which looked even more luxurious and magnificent in the cold winter night. The carved cast iron gate slid open silently.
The driver got out of the car and opened the back door, still expressionless: "Ms. Ning, we're here."
Ning Yunmeng practically rolled off the carriage. Her legs were weak and powerless, and her expensive high heels twisted on the cold stone steps, making a sharp sound.
She didn't care about the pain or the mess she was in at the moment - her expensive white coat was stained with large, glaring dark brown bloodstains (her own), and her carefully styled chestnut curly hair was messy and withered and stuck to her pale cheeks.
Her makeup had long been blurred by tears and cold sweat, and in her eyes was an indissoluble fear, despair, and a hint of scarlet on the verge of madness.
The villa was brightly lit, and the sound of melodious New Year's carols and the clatter of cutlery could be faintly heard, mixed with the crackling of burning wood in the fireplace. It was warm, lively, and full of festive joy.
Ning Yunmeng stumbled to the heavy walnut door and slapped the cold door with her blood-stained hands, using all her strength. Her voice was hoarse and desperate:
"Open the door! Open the door! Dad! Mom! It's me! Yunmeng! Open the door quickly!"
The knocks on the door were particularly abrupt and harsh in the quiet winter night. Soon, the servant's hesitant footsteps and the question of "Who... who's outside?" were heard from inside.
"It's me! Ning Yunmeng! Open the door quickly!" Ning Yunmeng screamed, her voice filled with tears.
The door lock turned, and the heavy wooden door was pulled open a crack. The familiar face of the servant Zhang Ma appeared behind the door. The moment she saw Ning Yunmeng outside, her face was filled with undisguised shock and... a subtle hint of fear and disgust!
"Second...Second Miss?!" Aunt Zhang's voice changed, and she was obviously frightened by Ning Yunmeng's ghost-like appearance at the moment.
"Let me in!" Ning Yunmeng ignored Zhang Ma's reaction, pushed her away, and stumbled into the warm and bright hallway.
She was breathing rapidly, like a trapped animal in a corner, her eyes eagerly scanning the direction where the warm light and laughter came from - the huge archway leading to the main living room.
Just as she was about to rush to the living room, a tall figure silently blocked her way.
He is the Ning family’s steward, Uncle Zhang.
He was wearing a neat black uniform, his hair was combed meticulously, his face was expressionless, his eyes were as calm as a pool of deep water, but with an unquestionable sense of obstruction.
"Second Miss," Uncle Chen said in a calm, formulaic voice, "Master, Madam, the eldest and second young masters, and the eldest young lady are all in the living room. I'm afraid it's not appropriate for you to go in in your current state."
"Get out of the way!" Ning Yunmeng screamed, trying to push Uncle Chen away, but found that the other party was as motionless as a rock.
Huge humiliation and panic instantly overwhelmed her, "I am the daughter of the Ning family! Why can't I go in?! I want to see my parents! I want to see my eldest brother! Ning Xiwan! It must be Ning Xiwan's doing! She hurt me! She..."
"Enough!" A majestic and cold voice exploded from the direction of the living room like thunder, instantly suppressing Ning Yunmeng's hysterical crying.
Ning Yunmeng's whole body stiffened, as if she had been cast under a spell.
Ning Yuanshan, her father and the head of the Ning Group, was standing at the archway entrance of the living room, wearing a well-tailored dark gray home suit, with a stern face and eyes as sharp as an eagle.
Behind him, the warm yellow light of the living room outlined several familiar figures: his mother Ji Qinglan was wearing an elegant dark green velvet dress, and her well-maintained face no longer had any of the tenderness of the past, leaving only cold alienation and disappointment.
The eldest brother, Ning Xiuyuan, the young executive president of Ning Group, was dressed in a well-ironed black suit. His eyes behind his gold-rimmed glasses were sharp and scrutinizing, as if he was evaluating a bad business plan.
The second brother Ning Xiuyan, who was usually the most cynical and disliked Ning Xiwan the most, rarely spoke out in support at this moment.
