Bai Zhiye also walked over quickly, with an uncontrollable smile on his face, and his eyes were even a little moist.
She didn't rush over like Hua Jinyue did, but just stood in front of Ye Qingliu, looked up at his smile which had never been so brilliant, and said softly, "It's over, Qingliu."
Ye Qingliu hugged Hua Jinyue, looked down at Bai Zhiye, nodded vigorously, and said in a clear and happy voice: "Well, it's over."
The tacit understanding and tenderness flowing in the eyes are more moving than any words.
At this moment, a more assertive and unbridled voice pierced through the clamor, ringing out with high spirits:
“Wanwan——!!!”
Duan Shuce appeared out of nowhere. He passed by Ye Qingliu and Bai Zhiye and rushed towards Ning Xiwan with a clear goal.
He had taken off his blue and white school uniform jacket at some point and casually draped it over his shoulders, leaving him wearing only a white T-shirt underneath. His hair was completely wet with sweat, with a few strands sticking to his full forehead.
His face was filled with an undisguised, hearty smile of ecstasy, and his beautiful peach blossom eyes were as bright as if they were filled with the sunshine of the entire summer.
He rushed to Ning Xiwan in a few steps, and before Ning Xiwan could react, he opened his arms, suddenly picked her up, and spun her twice on the spot!
"Ah! Duan Shuce, what are you doing?! Put me down!" Ning Xiwan was caught off guard and screamed in surprise. The parasol and thermal bag in her hands almost fell to the ground. Her cheeks flushed instantly, and she pounded his shoulder in embarrassment and annoyance.
"No!" Duan Shuce hugged her and smiled like a child who finally got his favorite toy. His voice was loud and full of joy as if he had survived a disaster.
"The exam is over! I'm free! Wanwan! We are free!" He lowered his head, resting his forehead against Ning Xiwan's, his hot breath brushing her cheek, his peach blossom eyes filled with undisguised love, excitement and a sense of pride that "I finally made it."
"No one can separate us with homework and exams anymore! I can see you whenever I want!"
The crowd around was still noisy, but in Duan Shuce's passionate embrace and declaration, Ning Xiwan seemed to only hear her own heartbeat like a drum.
She stopped struggling and let him hold her, the corners of her mouth unconsciously raised high, and she said angrily: "Childish ghost! Put me down quickly, there are so many people watching!"
"Just look!" Duan Shuce didn't care, but still put her down gently, and took her hand tightly, interlocking their fingers, his palms burning hot.
"I hug my girlfriend, it's only natural!"
On the other side, Ye Qingliu finally calmed down his overly excited sister and "took" her off his body.
Hua Jinyue immediately rushed to Bai Zhiye again, excitedly sharing her brother's "earth-shaking" smile.
Bai Zhiye smiled gently, took out a tissue, and naturally wiped the sweat from Ye Qingliu's temples and neck.
Ye Qingliu lowered his head slightly to cooperate, with the bright smile from before still lingering on his face. When his gray-blue eyes looked at Bai Zhiye, they were as gentle as melted glacier water.
"Tsk tsk tsk," Duan Shuce pulled Ning Xiwan over and looked at the "rare" smile on Ye Qingliu's face. He smacked his lips deliberately, "Son, a test makes you so happy? You're smiling like a flower. Daddy almost doesn't recognize you anymore!"
Ye Qingliu rarely responded with "childish" immediately, but just glanced at Duan Shuce lightly, with the curve of his mouth still obvious, with a relaxed feeling of "I don't want to bother with you".
He took the iced sour plum soup handed to him by Bai Zhiye, unscrewed the bottle and took a big sip. The cold liquid slid down his throat, bringing a refreshing coolness.
He let out a long sigh, as if he had completely expelled the last bit of restraint brought by the exam.
"How do you feel?" Ning Xiwan asked the two with a smile, her eyes wandering over their faces, trying to capture the truth after being relieved of the burden.
"Refreshing!" Duan Shuce said concisely, and drank another bottle of sour plum soup handed to him by Ning Xiwan. His Adam's apple rolled, and the ice water slid down his jaw, sparkling in the sunlight.
"It feels so good like never before! Especially the last big question. The moment I solved it, I felt like my soul was sublimated!" He was beaming with joy, with the excitement that only a top student can have after overcoming a difficult problem.
Ye Qingliu also nodded, his voice clear and with a rare hint of ease: "Not bad. The questions are all as expected."
He paused and added, "It went better than expected." This was already a high compliment to him.
"I knew it! Brother and Brother Duan are both the best!" Hua Jinyue immediately announced loudly, as if the result was already in the bag.
She pulled out the two "win-win charms" with distorted stars and incomprehensible characters from her rabbit bag like she was presenting a treasure. She stood on tiptoe and was about to stuff them into Ye Qingliu and Duan Shuce's pockets. "Hurry and take them! God bless you! You'll definitely get high scores!"
Ye Qingliu looked at the "ghostly scribbles" and the corners of his mouth twitched slightly, but he still let Hua Jinyue stuff the crumpled paper into his school uniform pocket.
Duan Shuce laughed heartily and opened his arms in agreement: "Come on, take one for Dad too! I pray that Dad and your sister Wan go to the same university!"
Hua Jinyue immediately took out another one and stuffed it into Duan Shuce's trouser pocket, with a sense of mission of "heavy responsibility on shoulders" on her little face.
Bai Zhiye looked at this heartwarming yet somewhat funny scene, covered her lips with her hands and chuckled, her eyes gentle.
Just then, there was a small commotion outside the crowd. The unassuming black sedan slowly pulled away from the curb, its rear windows halfway down.
Ye Fanshuang was still wearing the pair of large sunglasses, and the profile of his face was cool and perfect.
