Chapter 314 A Disturbing Weekend

It was nine o'clock on Sunday morning and the sun was shining brightly.

The sycamore tree in front of the girls' dormitory rustled in the breeze, casting mottled shadows on the stone road.

Duan Shuce stood under the tree with one hand in his pocket, and in the other hand he held a brown paper bag with the words "Time-honored Brand" printed on it. Inside the bag were freshly baked custard buns. The hot steam seeped through the gaps in the bag, emitting a sweet white mist in the slightly cool air.

He was wearing a simple white T-shirt today, the collar slightly open, revealing half of his collarbone. Black sweatpants made his legs look long, and on his feet were a pair of limited-edition sneakers, the laces tied loosely, giving him a casual look.

The sunlight fell on him through the gaps between the leaves, casting tiny spots of light on his angular profile.

People were coming and going in front of the dormitory building, and many girls were secretly glancing at him, some even deliberately slowing down their pace. Duan Shuce was completely oblivious, or perhaps he had already gotten used to it.

He looked down at his watch and frowned slightly - he had been waiting for fifteen minutes, and there was still no movement from someone.

He took out his cell phone and tapped quickly on the screen with his slender fingers: [Go downstairs].

After waiting for two minutes without a reply, Duan Shuce touched the tip of his tongue to the roof of his mouth and suddenly curled up the corners of his mouth.

He put away his phone, put his thumb and index finger to his lips, and whistled clearly.

"Ning Xiwan——"

The sound was neither too loud nor too soft, just loud enough to be heard from a window on the third floor. The sparrows in the tree were startled and flew away, and a few passing girls covered their mouths and giggled.

Three seconds later, the curtains of dormitory 306 were swished open. Ning Xiwan, with messy long hair, appeared at the window, staring down with sleepy eyes.

The morning light cast a golden edge on her porcelain-white face, and the collar of her loose pajamas was tilted, revealing half of her shoulder.

Duan Shuce tilted his head back, the sun glaring and making him squint. He lifted the paper bag and shook it, grinning broadly: "Breakfast is getting cold."

Ning Xiwan scratched her hair, made a clear "wait" sound with her lips, and slammed the window shut.

Duan Shuce chuckled, turned around and leaned against the tree trunk waiting.

The rough touch of the tree bark came through his thin clothes, and he carelessly crushed the fallen leaves on the ground with the toe of his shoe, making a crackling sound.

From this angle, he could just see the dormitory gate. He stared at the glass door, imagining someone rushing out.

Five minutes later, Ning Xiwan pushed open the glass door and rushed out. She was wearing a light blue shirt, half tucked into her jeans and half hanging loose.

Her hair was hastily tied into a ponytail, with a few strands sticking out unruly. Her makeup-free face was transparently pale in the sunlight, with only the tip of her nose tinged with a faint pink.

"Do you know that making noise is prohibited in the girls' dormitory?" She stopped in front of Duan Shuce, panting, her eyes wide open.

Duan Shuce reached out and tucked her hair behind her ear, his fingertips deliberately brushing her earlobe: "I know, that's why I only shouted once."

Ning Xiwan slapped his hand away and looked at the paper bag in his hand: "What is this?"

"A time-honored Dongmen brand of custard buns," Duan Shuce said as he opened the paper bag, the sweet, warm steam wafting in his face. "I waited in line for forty minutes."

In the morning light, the golden custard filling is faintly visible, and the dough is fluffy and soft, still steaming.

Ning Xiwan swallowed and reached out to take it, but Duan Shuce suddenly raised the bag.

"Pay first." He pointed to his cheek.

Ning Xiwan rolled her eyes, but still stood on tiptoe and gave him a quick kiss.

Duan Shuce became more and more aggressive, holding the back of her head and giving her a solid kiss before he handed her the breakfast with satisfaction.

"Pervert." Ning Xiwan mumbled while biting a bun, but the corners of her mouth rose slightly.

Duan Shuce watched her eat with a smile, and suddenly reached out to wipe the custard filling from the corner of her mouth: "Slow down, no one is trying to snatch it from you."

The sycamore leaves fell between the two of them, swirled in the morning breeze, and gently landed in Ning Xiwan's hair.

Duan Shuce brushed it off for her naturally, then took her hand and said, "Let's go. I'll take you somewhere."

The sunlight stretched the two people's shadows very long, and they were closely leaning against each other on the cobblestone road.

At a window on the upper floor of the dormitory building, several girls were furtively holding up their mobile phones, and the shutter sounds were drowned out by the morning breeze.

At three o'clock in the afternoon, the sunlight slanted through the floor-to-ceiling windows of the library, casting diamond-shaped spots of light on the wooden floor.

Ning Xiwan sat by the window, with the "International Financial Case Analysis" spread out in front of her, gilded with a layer of gold.

She frowned slightly, her fingertips tapping the keyboard unconsciously. The document on the screen already had three thousand words written on it, but the last paragraph of the conclusion was still not perfect.

Duan Shuce sat opposite her, with a book "Introduction to Algorithms" spread out on the table, but he didn't turn the page for a long time.

His gaze passed over the top of the page and fell on Ning Xiwan - she had the habit of biting her lower lip when thinking, her eyelashes cast fine shadows under her eyes, and the sunlight passed through her hair, with tiny spots of light dancing beside her cheeks.

"Have you seen enough?" Ning Xiwan suddenly asked, her eyes still fixed on the screen.

Duan Shuce propped his chin up with one hand and tapped his temple lightly with his fingertips: "No."

Ning Xiwan finally raised her head and glared at him.

The sunlight fell right into her eyes, and her amber pupils shrank into a tiny dot under the strong light, revealing a hint of danger like a cat.

"If you do that again," she lowered her voice, "I'll move you to the silent zone."

Duan Shuce suddenly reached out and lightly brushed his fingertips across her brow: "There's a wrinkle here."

His fingertips had thin calluses from years of typing on the keyboard, and they felt rough and warm.

Ning Xiwan leaned back suddenly, nearly hitting her head against the bookshelf. She looked around and luckily, the students around her were all wearing headphones and studying.
