In a corner of the exclusive reading area of the Physics Department, Mu Xinrong was struggling with a rigid body mechanics problem.
He bit the pen, his eyebrows twisted into a small "川" shape, and the draft paper was filled with force analysis diagrams and crooked formulas.
"Torque balance... principal axis of inertia... why is it wrong when I substitute it in..." He muttered to himself, scratching his hair irritably, causing a few disobedient strands of hair to stick up.
At this moment, a cup of steaming milk tea was gently and silently placed on the corner of his desk piled with books by a bony, pale hand.
Mu Xinrong was stunned and looked up subconsciously.
Chao Youye had been standing beside his desk since some point. He was wearing a simple off-white turtleneck sweater, which accentuated his jawline. He wore a dark grey cardigan loosely layered over it, and his whole person exuded a clean, clear, scholarly air.
I was holding a cup of the same milk tea in my hand, but there were no condensed water droplets on the outside of the cup, which obviously meant that the temperature inside was lower.
"Green jasmine, three parts sugar, no ice." Chao Youye's voice was not loud, still clear and cool, but without the usual icy feeling, like the melted stream water in early spring flowing over smooth pebbles.
Mu Xinrong's eyes were instantly drawn to the cup of milk tea! The green fruit flesh floated in the light green tea soup, exuding a sweet and slightly sour aroma.
More importantly—green grape jasmine tea! 30% sugar! No ice! This was exactly the flavor he'd mentioned wanting to try the last time he'd passed by that new internet-famous milk tea shop!
He just hesitated for a moment looking at the menu, and was pulled away by Chao Youye without any explanation on the grounds that "the sugar content is too high and affects thinking efficiency"!
He actually... remembered it? And even bought it on his own initiative?!
Mu Xinrong suddenly raised his head, his eyes shining brightly, like broken diamonds falling into the entire galaxy.
The corners of his mouth couldn't help but curl up, revealing a dazzling smile: "For me?! Youye! How did you know I wanted to drink this!?"
That smile was so bright and pure, carrying unreserved joy and flattery, just like the midday sun shining unobstructed on Chao Youye.
Chao Youye's fingers, gripping the milk tea cup, curled up imperceptibly. Her gaze shifted slightly, landing on the mechanics problem covered in sketches. Her tone remained calm, as if she was simply stating a perfectly ordinary fact: "I was just passing by. It just happened to be there."
"Just by chance?" Mu Xinrong didn't believe it! That store was quite a distance from the library! And how could someone as self-disciplined as Chao Youye, who was almost rigid, "just by chance" buy something he defined as "unhealthy sugar water"?
Unless... Mu Xinrong's heart seemed to be soaked in warm honey water, bubbling with sweet bubbles.
He held up the cup of warm milk tea like a treasure, feeling the warmth from the cup wall with his fingertips, which warmed his heart.
"Thank you Youye!" His voice was filled with unconcealable joy, like a little squirrel who had obtained his beloved pine cone.
He couldn't wait to insert the straw and took a careful sip.
The sweet and slightly sour aroma of green grapes instantly spreads in your mouth, mixed with the elegant fragrance of jasmine tea. The sweetness of three parts sugar is just right, not greasy, and perfectly sets off the refreshing taste of the fruit tea itself.
The warm liquid slid down my throat, as if even the irritation that had just been bothering me from the difficult problem was being gently smoothed out.
"Hmm... so delicious!" Mu Xinrong narrowed his eyes in satisfaction and let out a small sigh, his cheeks slightly flushed with satisfaction and warmth.
He took another big sip, then handed the cup to Chao Youye like he was presenting a treasure, his eyes sparkling. "Would you like to try it? It's really delicious! Three parts of sugar, not greasy at all!"
Chao Youye lowered her eyes and looked at the cup of milk tea handed to her. There was still a trace of water on the tip of the straw where Mu Xinrong had just drunk from.
His gaze lingered on the water mark for a moment, and his long eyelashes trembled slightly like butterfly wings.
He didn't answer it immediately, nor did he refuse, but just remained silent.
Mu Xinrong's hand holding the cup stopped in mid-air, and the smile on his face froze for a moment. He realized belatedly that his action seemed a bit... too intimate and rash.
Youye is so fond of cleanliness, would she dislike it... He was just about to pull the cup back and said "forget it" awkwardly.
But Chao Youye stretched out her hand very naturally, not to take the cup, but took Mu Xinrong's hand, leaned over slightly, and put the straw in her mouth.
Mu Xinrong held his breath instantly! He could clearly see Chao Youye's drooping eyelashes, each one distinct and casting a fan-shaped shadow under her eyes.
Seeing his thin lips slightly opening and closing, the way he gently sucked on the straw, with an indescribable...sexiness? The thought made Mu Xinrong's ears suddenly burn!
Chao Youye took only a small sip and then stood up. His Adam's apple moved slightly as he swallowed the warm fruit tea.
The sweet taste melts on the tip of the tongue, carrying with it a subtle warmth that belongs to another person.
"Yeah." He responded lightly as a comment, his face still with that calm expression, as if the indirect contact just now was nothing special.
Only the slightly pursed corners of his lips and the scrutinizing gaze that quietly slid across Mu Xinrong's fingers that were still holding the wall of the cup (as if confirming whether the temperature of the cup wall was hot) revealed a barely perceptible looseness.
Mu Xinrong still held the cup in his hand, his heartbeat racing as if he had just finished an 800-meter run. His fingertips still lingered with the cool touch of Chao Youye's fingers, which had carelessly brushed against his chest.
He looked at Chao Youye's calm face, then looked at the place on the straw...the place that had just been touched by their lips.
