Chapter 341: The 10,001st Time in Physics

Chao Youye lowered her head slightly, and her warm breath brushed across Mu Xinrong's ears, which were a little red from the cold, through the windproof scarf, bringing a slight itch.

Mu Xinrong was flustered by the gentle gaze so close to her, and the blush on her cheeks spread to her neck.

He looked away suddenly as if he was burned, but he couldn't help but glance back secretly.

His gaze drifted and fell on the pair of smiling purple eyes, and a bold and shameful thought popped up uncontrollably.

He licked his dry lips, his voice as quiet as a mosquito's hum, with a hint of tentativeness and an accusation that he wasn't even sure of: "...intentional?"

After asking, he himself felt it was outrageous.

How could he have done it on purpose? It was clearly him who lost his balance and fell forward... but Chao Youye's reaction of catching him steadily and even instantly relieving the impact... was it too fast and steady? And that look... was so gentle that it made his heart tremble.

Chao Youye did not answer immediately.

He still maintained his embrace, lowering his head slightly. The soft edge of the windproof scarf brushed against Mu Xinrong's sensitive earlobe.

The warm breath, with his unique scent, sprayed more clearly and slightly moistly on the frozen red tips of Mu Xinrong's ears, triggering an even stronger shudder.

Then, Mu Xinrong heard that low, pleasant, and slightly magnetic voice, close to his ear, with a clear smile and a triumphant declaration of victory:

"It's the 10,001st victory for physics."

Mu Xinrong: "..."

My brain froze for three seconds.

Physics...wins?!

He suddenly realized! This bastard! He was mocking his unstable center of gravity! He was mocking his lack of understanding of mechanics! He was mocking his fall in accordance with the laws of physics! And the "10,000th time"?

Is this a reference to all the embarrassing things he's done in the lab due to physics principles?!

"Chao Youye!" Mu Xinrong's fur instantly exploded, filled with shame and anger. Like a cat whose tail had been stepped on, he struggled to jump out of the other person's arms, his cheeks red as if they were dripping blood. "You...you laughed at me!"

Chao Youye tightened her arms as if she had anticipated this, holding him tightly in her arms. A low laugh erupted from her chest, joyful and clear.

He looked at the person in his arms, nearly fuming with shame and anger. The smile in his violet eyes deepened, like shattering the starry sky. "State the facts," he answered seriously, but the smile in his eyes betrayed him.

"You!" Mu Xinrong was so angry, but he couldn't break free. He could only stare with his eyes wide open, like an angry little pufferfish.

But looking at Chao Youye's handsome face so close to him, with a rare and relaxed smile on his face, that bit of embarrassment was strangely diluted by another more turbulent emotion.

The sunlight fell on his deep eyebrows, coating them with a layer of warm gold. His smile was like the warm spring sun after the iceberg melted, so dazzling that people could not take their eyes away.

Mu Xinrong's heart skipped a beat, then accelerated wildly again.

He suddenly stopped struggling and even quietly buried his face in the warm embrace again, revealing only a pair of eyes that rolled around as he muttered softly, "... Physics Department scum."

The voice was soft and not intimidating at all, but rather sounded like she was acting coquettishly.

Chao Youye heard it, chuckled, and tightened her arms around him.

The snow flakes were still falling silently, landing on the two people's overlapping shoulders, and melting in the warmth emanating from their tightly pressed bodies.

In the distance came the cheerful laughter of children and the swish of skis skiing across the snow.

Mu Xinrong leaned in Chao Youye's arms, listening to his steady heartbeat and feeling the solid sense of security. The embarrassment of falling just now and the shame of being ridiculed strangely disappeared, leaving only a warm and lazy sense of satisfaction.

He quietly moved his head buried in Chao Youye's chest and found a more comfortable position, like a baby bird finding a warm nest.

Chao Youye lowered her head slightly, her chin gently resting on Mu Xinrong's soft head, her gaze cast towards the distant snow-capped peaks.

The sunlight danced on the snow, reflecting tiny rays of light. His arm around Mu Xinrong's waist was filled with a silent sense of possession and cherishment.

"Is it still slippery?" he asked in a low voice, the sound coming through the vibration of his chest.

Mu Xinrong muttered a muffled "hmm" in his embrace, the ending tone dragging out a bit, with a hint of coquettish laziness and... obvious retreat. "...slippery."

He added softly, sounding unconvinced. While being held was comfortable, he couldn't just lie there like a statue on the slope forever.

Chao Youye silently curled the corners of his lips. "This time," he loosened his arm, but one hand still firmly supported Mu Xinrong's arm, helping him to stand again.

"Watch me skate, follow my path."

He no longer let Mu Xinrong figure it out on his own, but decided to demonstrate and guide him personally.

He adjusted the positions of the two people, and then he slid down a short distance with an extremely smooth, textbook plow-like turn, leaving a clear and beautiful semicircular arc on the snow.

Then he stopped steadily, turned to look at Mu Xinrong, and extended his hand to him.

"Come."

Mu Xinrong looked at the perfect arc on the snow, then looked at the black-gloved hand stretched out toward Youye, took a deep breath, and tried to suppress the uneasiness in his heart.

He imitated Chao Youye and clumsily turned the front end of the snowboard inward to form a small figure eight. He leaned forward slightly, bent his knees, and then carefully and bit by bit moved his ski poles and slid towards Chao Youye.

His movements were still jerky and stiff, as slow as a snail, his body trembling slightly from nervousness, and the track left by the snowboard on the snow was crooked, like a drunken earthworm.
