(the next day)
Thick curtains blocked out most of the sunlight, leaving only a dim wall lamp. The air was filled with the strong smell of disinfectant, blood, and bitter Chinese medicine.
The alarm threshold of the ECG monitor seemed to be set very low, and it occasionally emitted short warning sounds, indicating that the person on the bed was extremely weak.
Ye Qingliu lay halfway on the hospital bed, his upper body propped up high. His face was a pale, almost transparent color, like fine bone china, with a sense of fragility and brittleness.
His gray-blue eyes were half closed, and his long eyelashes cast a heavy shadow under his eyes, hiding all emotions.
His chest and waist were wrapped in thick gauze, through which fresh blood could be seen faintly.
One arm had an IV drip, and the other hand, which was placed outside the quilt, had distinct joints but was extremely pale and had cold fingertips.
He looked like a jade sculpture that had been severely damaged and barely glued together. His breathing was weak and labored, and every breath he took was accompanied by a subtle murmur deep in his chest.
Like the most loyal guard, Sun Guixiang moved a small stool and sat next to the bed.
Her skinny hands carefully held Ye Qingliu's cold hand, which was not on an IV drip, and tightly wrapped it with her rough and warm palms, trying to convey a little warmth.
From time to time, she would use a warm, wet towel to very gently wipe the sweat oozing from Ye Qingliu's forehead.
Hua Jinyue was like an anxious trapped beast, pacing back and forth in the limited space of the ward.
She was wearing a simple T-shirt and jeans, her hair was casually tied up, her pretty face was tense, and her eyes were filled with uncontrollable anger and deep self-blame.
Every time she looked at her brother, who lay utterly frail on the hospital bed, her heart felt like it was being stabbed by a knife. It was all her fault! She had fallen for her uncle's scheme to lure the tiger away from the mountain! This was how her brother's injuries were compounded!
"Brother..." Hua Jinyue stopped and said with a choked voice.
"Don't worry, I have people taking good care of those three killers! And that old beast... I will never let him go!" Her fists were clenched so tightly that her knuckles turned white.
Ye Qingliu did not open his eyes, but moved the fingers held by Sun Guixiang very weakly and almost imperceptibly, as if in response.
This subtle movement made Hua Jinyue's eyes even redder, and made Sun Guixiang hold his hand even tighter.
Just then, there was a gentle knock on the ward door. Unlike Ling Yue's light knock, this time the knock had a rigid rhythm.
Hua Jinyue instantly looked towards the door with alertness, her eyes sharp as a knife: "Who?"
"Miss, it's me, Awei." A steady voice came from outside the door.
"Important information to report. Regarding the Second Master and the explosion."
Hua Jinyue glanced at Ye Qingliu and saw that he still had his eyes closed, but seemed to nod slightly.
She took a deep breath and suppressed her irritability: "Come in."
The door was pushed open, and Awei flashed in and quickly closed the door. He was also wearing casual clothes, but he exuded a capable and capable aura.
He first nodded to Hua Jinyue, then his eyes fell on Ye Qingliu lying on the hospital bed with deep awe.
"Night boss," Awei's voice was low and serious as if he was reporting.
"According to your previous instructions, we have conducted the highest level of infiltration and monitoring of all of Second Master's communications and the surveillance of the West Mountain Villa... We have made a significant discovery."
Hua Jinyue suddenly opened her eyes wide and looked at her brother.
What instructions? When had my brother given Awei instructions, having just woken up from a serious injury? Infiltrating and monitoring Second Uncle and the West Mountain Villa? This would require enormous resources and extremely advanced planning!
Ye Qingliu still had his eyes closed, but his breathing seemed to be slower.
Sun Guixiang was a little confused, but she held the young master's hand tightly and did not let go.
Ah Wei ignored Hua Jinyue's shock and continued his report in a serious tone, "We captured a fragment of residual information on an extremely secret, never-activated, overseas encrypted communication channel belonging to the Second Master."
"After technical restoration and voiceprint comparison, it was confirmed that the voices belonged to the Second Master and... the Chao family's old master, Chao Zhenshan."
"Chao Zhenshan?!" Hua Jinyue exclaimed in shock.
The appearance of this name instantly reminded her of the bombing, and a chill ran up her spine.
Ah Wei nodded and continued, "The conversation is fragmented, but the key message is clear: the deal is done. Erye promises to take charge of 'solving' Ye Zong's situation and ensure you 'disappear' on the high seas."
"Chao Zhenshan, in turn, promised to take responsibility for resolving the situation regarding President Chao and his... 'obstacle' (referring to Mu Xinrong), and to use an explosion to create an 'accidental' shipwreck. The two parties also agreed on the details of the power distribution and profit transfer after the incident."
"Also," Ah Wei's voice deepened, "we've intercepted the encrypted insider information at Xishan Villa. Just an hour ago, Chao Zhenshan spoke with his confidant, mentioning key words like 'clearing the air-raid shelter,' 'cleaning up the rock,' and 'completely destroying the signal source.'"
"Combined with our previous technical analysis of the 'Etoile' explosion... all the fragment information is completely consistent!"
Hua Jinyue felt as if struck by lightning, her body swayed, and she had to hold onto the wall beside her to keep her balance.
So that's it! It turns out the bombing was orchestrated by Second Uncle and Chao Zhenshan! Second Uncle not only wanted to kill my brother, but he also colluded with outsiders to eliminate Chao Youye as well! For the sake of power, he was so ruthless!
A huge rage and even deeper fear gripped her. Chao Zhenshan! That old monster was even more cunning and entrenched than her second uncle!
"Brother! Did you hear that?!" Hua Jinyue rushed to the bed, her voice trembling with anger.
"It was Second Uncle and Chao Zhenshan! They teamed up to harm you! They harmed Chao Youye! We..."
Her words stopped abruptly.
