Jin Annuo stir-fried the food carefully to avoid burning the pan.
When the diced tomatoes became soft and the soup began to thicken, she added two tablespoons of tomato sauce (this time she deliberately chose the sweet brand that her brother liked), a small spoonful of sugar, an appropriate amount of salt, and poured in half a bowl of water.
"Gulp, gulp..." The red tomato sauce bubbled happily in the pot, exuding an alluring combination of sweet and sour aroma. An Nuo lowered the heat, letting the sauce thicken slowly.
She stirred it from time to time to prevent it from sticking to the bottom.
As time passed, the soup in the pot became brighter and redder, and thicker and thicker, forming a beautiful arc when hung on the spatula.
She dipped her fingertip in a little and tasted it, her eyes instantly lighting up – the perfect balance of sweet and sour, and rich flavor! The first step had been a success!
She poured the cooked tomato sauce into a clean bowl to keep it warm.
Next, let's fry the rice. Wash the wok again and heat the oil. Don't use too much oil this time.
She first poured the beaten overnight rice into the pot and quickly stir-fried it with a spatula so that each grain of rice was coated with oil, becoming distinct and slightly shiny.
Then, she poured the fried tomato and onion mixture (reserving some of the tomato sauce for later use) into the rice and quickly stir-fried it again, allowing the red tomato sauce to evenly coat every grain of white rice.
In an instant, the snow-white fried rice turned into an attractive golden red, steaming hot and fragrant.
Finally, she sprinkled a little salt and black pepper to season, stir-fried evenly, and served.
The most tense moment has arrived - spreading the egg skin.
This was the hardest hit area where so many of his previous failures had occurred. An Nuo took a deep breath and recalled the key points of the tutorial: the pan needed to be hot, plenty of oil, the egg liquid needed to be sieved, and the movements needed to be quick!
She took out the smallest non-stick pan in the house and heated it over medium heat. She poured in a lot more oil than she normally would for frying eggs. As the oil heated up, a slight smoke rose from the bottom of the pan.
She picked up the bowl of filtered, silky egg liquid, held her breath, and tilted the bowl with a steady and quick wrist, and the golden egg liquid poured into the center of the pot like a waterfall.
"Sizzle--" The moment the egg liquid touches the hot oil, white lace immediately appears on the edge.
Jin Annuo's heart was in her throat. She immediately grasped the handle of the pot with both hands and shook the pot clockwise with her wrist at a very fast speed and very small amplitude.
The golden egg liquid quickly solidifies under the action of heat, forming a round egg shell with uniform thickness and perfect color. The center part, poured in a little later, remains in an attractive semi-fluid state, like a piece of solidified sunlight.
Jin Annuo stared closely at the state of the egg skin. Just when the edges were completely solidified and the center was about to solidify, she decisively turned off the heat! The timing was just right!
She carefully piled the fried tomato rice on the side of the egg skin near the handle of the pan, forming a long, small hill.
Then, she picked up the handle of the pot, shook her wrist vigorously, and gently assisted with the spatula - the golden, cicada-wing-thin egg skin, like the softest blanket, lightly and completely covered the bright red fried rice.
The edges fit perfectly, not a single tear!
It worked! It really worked!
Jin Annuo looked at the perfect, golden and red "hill" in the frying pan and almost jumped up with excitement.
She resisted the urge to cheer and carefully used a spatula to trim the edges to make them more rounded.
Then, she picked up the plate and carefully slid the whole omelet into the dish. The golden egg skin wrapped around the rich fried rice, like a plump, sunny gift.
As a final step, pour the reserved hot and rich tomato sauce over it.
The bright red sauce slowly flows down from the top of the omurice, covering most of the golden egg skin, like lava flowing down a golden hill. The color contrast is strong and attractive.
Annuo also chopped a handful of fresh green parsley (she bought it specially!) and sprinkled it evenly on the bright red tomato sauce, instantly adding a touch of bright vitality and refreshing aroma.
Perfect! A tomato omelet rice made by Jin Annuo, with all its color, aroma and flavor, was finally created under the clear sky!
She took out her cell phone and took more than a dozen photos from various angles. Her cheeks flushed with excitement, brighter than the sunshine outside the window.
Looking at the work on the dining table, which was the result of his hard work and expectations, An Nuo felt a sense of accomplishment, but what followed was even stronger anticipation.
When would her brother come back? Would he like it? Would he be as surprised as she imagined?
Time seemed to stretch out as he waited. An Nuo carefully covered his omelet rice with a thermos and sat at the dining table, his chin resting on his hand, his eyes occasionally glancing at the clock on the wall.
At around five o'clock in the afternoon, the sound of a key turning in the lock was finally heard from the entrance.
Jin Annuo's heart skipped a beat, then began to beat happily like a deer again.
She stood up quickly and almost ran to the door.
Jin Chanyun pushed the door open and came in, with a trace of fatigue after work on his face, but when he saw his sister rushing towards him like a puppy welcoming its owner home, the tiredness in his eyes was instantly replaced by a gentle smile.
"Brother! You're back!" An Nuo's voice was filled with unconcealable joy.
"Yeah, I'm back." Jin Chanyun changed his shoes, put his briefcase on the entrance cabinet, and habitually swept his eyes across the living room.
Then he paused for a moment, his gaze fixed on the direction of the restaurant - the eye-catching thermos on the dining table, and his sister standing next to it, with a nervous and expectant look on her face, twisting her apron strings with her hands behind her back.
"This is..." He raised his eyebrows, already having a guess in his mind.
An Nuo took a deep breath, walked to the dining table, and with an almost pious sense of ritual, he opened the thermal cover with both hands.
