The worry on Qin Yuheng's face instantly faded like the tide. He stood up and casually tossed the towel, stained with Ruan Weiwei's wetness and smudged makeup, into the recycling basket beside him, as if discarding some dirty garbage.
Then he walked slowly to the shower area by the pool and turned on the switch.
The cold water rushed down. He carefully and attentively washed the hand that had just "touched" Ruan Weiwei. The water rushed over his slender, cold white fingers, repeatedly washing every inch of skin, the gaps between his fingers, and even his wrist.
His expression was calm, even a little focused, as if he were performing an important cleansing ritual.
He flushed for a full minute before turning off the water valve.
He shook off the water droplets on his hands, picked up the disinfectant spray bottle next to him, sprayed his hand carefully, then took out a tissue and wiped it clean slowly.
After doing all this, Qin Yuheng turned around.
All the cold disgust on his face disappeared instantly, and as if changing his face, he put on that pure, bright, and even childish smile again. He walked back to Qin Yuzheng's recliner.
Qin Yuzheng was still leaning there, as if the farce just now had never happened.
He even picked up the tablet again, and the light from the screen reflected in his deep eyes.
Qin Yuheng sat down next to the recliner, his movements very natural.
He didn't look at his brother, but lowered his head slightly, his eyes falling on Qin Yuzheng's bony hands placed at his side.
Then, he stretched out his hand, which had just been washed repeatedly and still had the cool scent of disinfectant, and carefully and with an almost pious tentativeness, gently hooked Qin Yuzheng's little finger.
Qin Yuzheng's fingers moved slightly, but he did not withdraw them.
This tiny acquiescence is like the strongest signal!
Qin Yuheng's eyes lit up instantly, as if they were filled with stars.
He became more and more aggressive, no longer satisfied with just one finger, but covered it with his entire hand, tightly holding Qin Yuzheng's palm with a barely perceptible trembling and complete dependence.
He even pushed his fingers into his brother's fingers in a domineering manner, clasping them tightly to form an intertwined posture.
"Brother..." Qin Yuheng pulled their clasped hands up a little, and leaned forward, his face almost touching Qin Yuzheng's arm.
He gently rubbed his cheek against Qin Yuzheng's firm, slightly cool upper arm muscles, his voice soft and sticky. His voice was thick with nasal notes, like a child who had suffered a great injustice seeking comfort, or perhaps seeking credit.
"I was so scared just now... Why is that woman so clumsy? She lost her balance and fell into the water, and she almost hit you... Luckily she was far away..."
As he spoke, he secretly observed his brother's expression with his sparkling eyes, his eyes were moist.
He was filled with complete trust and dependence, as if the person who had just stretched out his foot precisely by the pool, pretended to rescue him, and hated to clean was not him at all.
"Brother, are you okay? Did you get splashed with water?"
The "worry" in his tone was a hundred times more real than when he spoke to Ruan Weiwei just now. He reached out his other hand and very naturally brushed the few almost dried water droplets on the instep of Qin Yuzheng's feet with his fingertips.
Qin Yuzheng finally put down the tablet.
He didn't look at Qin Yuheng, but instead fixed his gaze on the ripples in the swimming pool that hadn't completely subsided, as if he was watching the aftermath of a drama whose ending had already been predicted.
He let his brother cling to him like a large canine, holding his hand tightly and even rubbing against his arm.
After a few seconds of silence, Qin Yuzheng slowly spoke, his voice low and steady, without any emotion: "Next time, stay away from the water."
He did not mention Ruan Weiwei's name, nor did he comment on any details of what had just happened.
This sentence sounded like an older brother's reminder to his younger brother about his safety, calm and peaceful.
However, to Qin Yuheng, it sounded like heavenly music! In these brief, seemingly rebuking words, he accurately captured the hidden acquiescence and indulgence!
My brother knew! He saw everything! He didn't scold me for kicking someone in the water, didn't expose my performance, and even... acquiesced to my intimacy at this moment!
A smile brighter than the sun bloomed on his face, pure without a trace of impurities. He nodded vigorously, his voice full of satisfaction and sweetness of being cared for.
"Yeah! Brother, I'll listen to you! Next time I'll definitely stay away from you! I won't let those messy things get close to you!"
As he made this promise, he became even more aggressive and pressed his cheek completely against Qin Yuzheng's strong arm, even rubbing it with satisfaction and making a kitten-like humming sound.
The intertwined hands clenched even tighter, as if wanting to completely embed herself into his bones and blood.
The surface of the swimming pool had completely returned to calm, reflecting the glass dome above and the clear sky of the April afternoon, as if the farce had never happened.
"Sister Weiwei! Wake up! Wake up!"
Assistant Xiao An's tearful call finally pulled Ruan Weiwei back to reality from the nightmare.
She opened her eyes suddenly, and what she saw was not the cold pool water, but the familiar pink lace-decorated ceiling of her apartment.
But the feeling of suffocation, the cold touch, and Qin Yuheng's devilish face with false concern were still clearly imprinted in her mind, making her tremble all over and her stomach churn.
"Water... Ugh..." She began to dry heave, but could not spit out anything, only a bitter taste in her mouth.
"Sister, it's okay, it's okay, let's go home..." Xiao An hurriedly handed her warm water, and looked at her face which was as pale as paper with dark circles under her eyes, feeling distressed and scared.
