Wu Meng sat in a comfortable sofa, savoring a delicate afternoon tea. The tea in the small glass teapot was alluring in color, while the coffee in the simple porcelain cup was fragrant. Paired with desserts like cookies and raspberry mousse, every bite was a delight for the taste buds.
Just then, her cell phone rang.
She picked up the phone quickly, and after listening to what the other party said, Wu Meng's expression changed completely.
She went out in a hurry.
At the appointed time, she arrived at a high-end restaurant.
(Time dividing line……………………)
As night fell, the sky outside the window was a deep blue, and tiny stars began to twinkle in the sky. Inside, the soft lights were dimmed to their lowest setting, leaving only beams of warm candlelight gently swaying on the long table in the center of the room, like fairies guiding dreams in ancient fairy tales.
The long table was covered with a crisp white tablecloth with elegant folds delicately folded around the edges. In the center stood an exquisite vase filled with a few bouquets of freshly picked flowers, emitting a delicate fragrance that intertwined with the candlelight to create a relaxing atmosphere.
The silver tableware gleamed softly and noblely under the candlelight, each set neatly placed, waiting for the upcoming gourmet feast.
At both ends of the table, there is a retro-style candlestick, each filled with long candles. The flames sway gently in the wind, casting mottled light and shadows, adding a bit of mystery and romance to the whole scene.
Several simple yet artistic paintings were hung on the walls all around. They appeared more vivid under the candlelight, as if they were also quietly watching this special dinner.
When Wu Meng went over, a young man was already sitting there.
The young man was wearing a well-tailored dark suit, the straight lines of which outlined his tall figure, making him look particularly handsome and dashing.
The fabric of his suit shimmered softly under the light, giving him a sophisticated and refined look. His white shirt collar was neat and flawless, contrasting sharply with the dark suit and further highlighting his calm and reserved demeanor.
The tie is carefully chosen, the color complementing the suit, neither too flashy nor lacking in personality. The cuffs are slightly exposed, and the silver cufflinks flash with occasional movements, adding a touch of refinement.
“You’re here…”
The young man politely stood up and moved the chair away for her, letting Wu Meng sit down.
"Zhang Nan, what do you want to talk to me about?"
After Wu Meng sat down, he went straight to the point.
Zhang Nan was Wu Meng's mistress. After she successfully got together with Chao Nanxing, she cruelly dumped him aside.
"Um?"
Zhang Nan was not angry, but slowly cut a piece of steak and put it on Wu Meng's plate.
"Wu Meng, do you still have feelings for me after all these years?"
"Do you think I still have it?"
"I don't want to guess here. I want to hear your real answer."
"No……"
"You're lying... You're looking to the side when you're lying."
"No! I didn't!"
Wu Meng said with some guilt that it was true that she had loved Zhang Nan in the past, but now... she couldn't say it.
"Well, since you don't want to answer, forget it."
They ate their meals in silence.
Then Zhang Nan drove Wu Meng home.
"I'm not going home."
Wu Meng said calmly as he looked at the scenery outside the car window.
"Where are you going?"
"bar."
It was late at night, and the dim glow of the streetlights cast a warm glow on the old wooden tables, adding a touch of warmth to the quiet tavern. Wu Meng sat in the corner, her simple outfit appearing particularly gentle under the dim light.
She gently picked up the wine glass. It was a crystal clear goblet filled with dark red liquid, like a rose blooming in the night.
She first sniffed the wine gently, her brows furrowed slightly, as if savoring its complex aroma. Then, she slowly brought the glass to her lips and took a sip.
At that moment, her eyes became deep, as if she was savoring the sweetness and bitterness of the wine, or thinking about something.
As the wine flowed through her mouth, her cheeks gradually flushed and her eyes became blurry. From time to time, she would look down at the wine glass, or look up at the dark night sky outside the window, as if searching for some answer.
To her, the wine was not just a drink, but more like an old friend who accompanied her through the long nights.
As time went by, the liquid in the glass gradually decreased, and her mood seemed to become more complicated. Sometimes she chuckled, sometimes she frowned, as if she was having a silent conversation with herself.
Zhang Nan actually wanted to persuade Wu Meng, but Wu Meng didn't listen at all, so he had to let her drink to her heart's content.
