Chapter 96 Wang Xiaolu

As night falls, the last rays of sunset in the sky have disappeared, and the whole world is shrouded in a thick darkness.

It was quiet all around, with only the occasional whimpering of the wind through the treetops and the low roar of unknown creatures in the distance, adding a sense of unease to the night.

The thin moonlight shines through the sparse clouds, but it seems unable to penetrate the thick darkness and can only barely illuminate the road under my feet.

The shadows of the trees danced and swayed in the wind, casting mottled shadows, like monsters with bared fangs and claws, lurking in the dark, waiting for an opportunity to strike.

The air was filled with a smell of dampness and decay. The surrounding buildings and trees looked particularly eerie in the faint moonlight, as if there were unspeakable secrets hidden behind every closed window and prying eyes behind every tree.

The footsteps were especially clear in the night, each step echoing as if someone was stalking me from the shadows. My heartbeat accelerated uncontrollably, each beat bringing a hint of panic.

Wang Xiaolu couldn't help but shiver, but his body kept trembling as he walked forward.

Go on... go on...

His face was as pale as paper, his lips were almost colorless, and he was clearly on the verge of losing too much blood. Every step he took seemed to drain all his strength.

His steps were unsteady, as if he were walking on cotton, unsteady and weak. His breathing became rapid and weak, each inhalation seemed like a struggle against death, and each exhalation was accompanied by a subtle tremor.

Wang Xiaolu's eyes were blurry and his vision was blurred, as if the whole world was spinning before his eyes. Despite this, he still gritted his teeth and tried to support his body with willpower.

However, the weakness brought by blood loss came like a tide, making it almost impossible for him to stand.

Wang Xiaolu's pace slowed down, each step feeling like crossing a thousand mountains and rivers. Sweat dripped from his forehead, dripping onto the ground, and was instantly absorbed by the thirsty earth.

His clothes were soaked with sweat and stuck to his skin, giving him a sticky and uncomfortable feeling.

Despite this, he gritted his teeth and persevered, using up his last bit of strength to move forward. He had only one thought in his mind: he must not fall down, he must persevere to the end, he must survive.

The man he had been thinking about so much...his figure appeared in his mind...

"I haven't seen him yet... in real life..."

"Move... Wang Xiaolu... You've been through everything. This kind of pain is nothing compared to this injury..."

"I... Wang Xiaolu... I really want to see him... I really want to see him once... just once..."

After an unknown amount of time, Wang Xiaolu finally saw a bright light ahead...

He moved his steps with difficulty, step by step towards the bright light...

But he was still too strong. At that moment, Wang Xiaolu felt dizzy and the whole world seemed to be shaking violently.

His vision began to blur again, and everything around him became unreal, as if shrouded in a layer of mist. His heartbeat accelerated, and his ears buzzed as if countless bees were flying around them.

At the moment when he was about to lose consciousness, he vaguely saw a figure. The figure was blurry and distant, like an illusion, but also seemed to be a real person.

He tried hard to see the figure's face clearly, but his vision became increasingly blurred, and he could only barely make out the outline of a person.

The figure seemed to be walking towards him, and Wang Xiaolu felt an inexplicable sense of intimacy, as if the figure was someone he knew, or someone he longed to see deep in his heart.

However, as his consciousness gradually faded, the figure became increasingly distant, and eventually disappeared from his sight. At the moment he fainted, his heart was filled with endless regret and unwillingness.
