Extra: Qin Yuheng's New Year Rose

The morning light fell on his cold and focused profile, outlining a perfect outline as if it had been carved by a knife or an axe.

He didn't look up, as if the word "enter" just now was just a command to the air. The tip of the pen continued to move steadily on the document, making a rustling sound.

The absolute concentration and sense of control filled the entire space with an invisible pressure.

Qin Yuheng stood at the door holding the box, like a large dog entering a forbidden area, and was a little at a loss for a moment.

The courage he had just shown to risk everything was instantly replaced by immense tension and an almost humble uneasiness when he actually faced this god-like brother.

He opened his mouth, but his throat was too dry to make a sound.

He could only stand there blankly, looking at his brother's calm profile, feeling his own drum-like heartbeat seem to be infinitely magnified in the empty study.

Time passed by minute by minute, and the rustling sound of writing was the only rhythm.

Qin Yuheng felt like he was about to suffocate.

He must do something!

He took a deep breath, mustered all his courage, and holding the box, he moved to the desk step by step, extremely slowly and carefully, and stopped about one meter away from Qin Yuzheng - that was the "safe" distance he set for himself, and he didn't dare to get any closer.

He stood still, like a primary school student waiting for his teacher to mark his homework, holding the box tightly in his hands, his knuckles turning white from the force.

He lowered his head, his eyes fixed on the fluff of the thick carpet where his bare feet were stepping, as if there was some priceless treasure there.

"Brother..." He finally found his voice, with a barely perceptible tremor and a heavy nasal tone.

"...Happy New Year." The voice was as low as a mosquito's.

Qin Yuzheng wrote without a pause, not even raising his eyelashes. He seemed not to hear.

The huge loss was like ice water, instantly extinguishing the last faint flame in Qin Yuheng's heart.

He bit his lower lip, and a layer of grievance instantly covered his beautiful eyes.

As expected... I disturbed him after all. He shouldn't have come! He should have locked himself in his room or gone to the greenhouse like usual, instead of being an eyesore holding a broken box like a fool...

Just when he was about to be overwhelmed by the tide of self-loathing and was about to flee with the box in his arms—

Qin Yuzheng's pen tip paused extremely slightly at the end of the smooth strokes on the paper.

The pause was so subtle that it was almost imperceptible, but it was like a stone thrown into a calm lake, causing huge ripples in Qin Yuheng's dead heart!

Then, Qin Yuzheng slowly raised his head.

Those eyes, as deep as a cold pond, penetrated the bright light of the early morning and fell calmly on Qin Yuheng.

Her eyes were like a precise scanner, first sweeping over his tense body and the box he held tightly to his chest, then slowly moving upwards, finally stopping on his lowered face, which was filled with tension and grievance.

Qin Yuheng felt the gaze and his body stiffened instantly!

He didn't dare to look up, so he could only lower his head even lower, almost burying it in the box in his arms. His heart was beating so fast that it seemed like it was going to jump out of his throat.

Time seemed to have frozen. Only the faint hum of the heating system and the barely audible breathing of the two people could be heard.

Just when Qin Yuheng felt that he was about to be crushed by this silent gaze, Qin Yuzheng finally spoke.

The voice was still low and smooth, without any ups and downs, but it clearly penetrated the stagnant air:

"What are you holding?"

It's like being forgiven!

Qin Yuheng suddenly raised his head, and his beautiful phoenix eyes instantly burst out with an incredible, bright light like exploding stars!

The huge surprise and excitement washed away all the tension and grievances. He even felt his nose sore and his eyes instantly became hot!

"It's...it's for you! A New Year's present!" He almost shouted, his voice full of nasal tone and undisguised joy, like a child eager to present a treasure.

He couldn't wait, and even a little clumsily, to carefully place the box he was holding tightly in a corner of Qin Yuzheng's large desk - a place that would not interfere with the documents but was conspicuous enough.

The box was beautifully packaged, made of a rich, dark blue specialty paper, and tied with a silver ribbon into a perfect bow with tiny wings.

Among the cold documents and office supplies on the desk, it looks particularly abrupt and... fresh.

Qin Yuzheng's gaze fell on the abrupt blue box. There was no emotion in his deep eyes, as calm as an ancient well.

He didn't touch it immediately, but just watched quietly.

Qin Yuheng's heart was lifted again. He stared at Qin Yuzheng's face nervously, trying to catch some information from the expression that had been frozen for thousands of years.

Do you like it? Or do you think it's childish? Or... do you just disdain it?

"Open it and take a look?" Qin Yuheng couldn't help but urge in a low voice, his voice filled with cautious temptation and strong expectation.

He even subconsciously took half a step forward, leaning forward slightly, like a large dog waiting for his owner to open a bag of snacks.

Qin Yuzheng's gaze finally shifted from the box to Qin Yuheng's handsome face, which was filled with nervousness and anticipation.

The gaze lingered on his face for a few seconds, with an indescribable scrutiny, as if evaluating the thought and... value behind this "gift".

A few seconds of silence felt like a century to Qin Yuheng.

Finally, Qin Yuzheng moved.

He lowered the platinum pen in his hand with a steady and graceful movement. His long, bony fingers, with a sense of control and power, slowly reached for the dark blue box.
