Chapter 56 No, you need

Chapter 56 No, you need

Now Mr. Zhang understood everything.

No wonder he personally proposed the construction of a hotel on the island, and his requirements were so high.

"But..." Mr. Zhang asked Lan Zhe, "It's only been a few months? I've never even heard of it."

It means that I haven't heard any rumors about President Lu and Assistant Pei.

Lan Zhe sighed, "You still don't understand President Lu very well. Dating someone like him is like burying yourself in the Lu family's ancestral grave."

Mr. Zhang: "..."

Hey, that sounds like something Mr. Lu would do!

Chilled pear juice quenched her thirst. After finishing her skewers, Pei Wu took a couple of sips, her gaze falling on the undulating mountains in the distance. She was in a pretty good mood.

Lu Xiwen then led Pei Wu upstairs to choose a room.

The third floor had the best view, so Lu Xiwen made the decision for Pei Wu and chose two adjacent rooms.

Pei Wu looked around and thought the feng shui of the rooms was good, but the only drawback was, "My room doesn't have a shower."

“I have one,” Lu Xi said. “You can borrow my room.”

Seeing Lu Xiwen spouting nonsense with such a straight face, Pei Wu couldn't help but say, "I probably don't need to borrow it."

Lu Xiwen: "No, you need it."

Pei Wu: "..."

If Lu Xiwen had used even a fraction of the cunning he employs in the business world to set traps for others, his intentions wouldn't be so blatant. Yet, he made no attempt to hide it; aside from a slight embarrassment, he simply wanted to get closer to Pei Wu.

"Okay." Pei Wu took a step forward, getting closer. "I'll listen to you."

Cao Guan had come up at some point. He was walking and playing on his phone when he looked up and saw this scene. He froze for half a second, and then turned back down without saying a word.

Guan Yan was right. Look at Lu Xiwen's shy yet proud little wife-like demeanor.

But it's good too, Cao Guan smiled.

Pei Wu helped Lu Xiwen carry his suitcase into the room. His physical strength had deteriorated too much. He used to be able to breathe without even panting, but recently he gets tired as soon as he does any physical work.

Pei Wu scratched the back of her neck again; it got very itchy when she sweated.

With plenty of time in the afternoon, Kuang Junmeng had two simple goalposts brought over. The field was about the same size as a football field, marked out with white lime. He changed into a football uniform, with the same number as a world-renowned football star, and stood by the field jumping and warming up.

"Should Guan Yan go?" Cao Guan asked.

Guan Yan sat on the edge of the field with his legs crossed, "I'm not going."

If you can't keep up with your physical fitness, you might as well sunbathe.

Seeing this, Pei Wu quietly asked Lu Xiwen, "Was Guan Yan also very good at soccer in his student days?"

"Yes, he's a very strong defender and has beautiful skills." Lu Xiwen's tone revealed a hint of regret.

For someone who is used to challenges, accepting one's fate is quite cruel.

Cao Guan called out to Pei Wu, "Pei Zhu, come and give it a try."

Pei Wu was a little tempted. It had been many years since he had touched these things. When he was in high school, he would often take time to play with his classmates for half an hour after school.

Lu Xiwen noticed this and patted Pei Wu on the shoulder, "Go ahead."

Pei Wu wasn't as hot-blooded as the Alphas; he changed into casual clothes and got off the plane, which didn't affect his running at all.

The number of people present was at least as many as possible. The teams were decided by drawing lots. Pei Wu ended up on the same team as Cao Guan, while Kuang Junmeng was on the other team.

Kuang Junmeng stepped on the football and sneered at them, "Submit to my great football skills."

Cao Guan: "I submit to you, you salted duck egg!"

At the sound of a whistle, everyone sprang into action.

Lu Xiwen sat alone, his elbows resting on a white foot table, watching Pei Wu run alongside Cao Guan. Stray hairs flew wildly across his forehead, and he looked particularly energetic when he laughed.

Not far away, Lan Zhe and Guan Yan sat together, with Boss Zhang, who had just joined the camp, next to them.

"I'm really impressed. Can he even take his eyes off Pei Wu?" Guan Yan scoffed.

Lan Zhe: "President Guan's words are unreasonable. What's wrong with President Lu liking the person he likes?"

Guan Yan glanced at him, "You actually dare to speak up for Lu Xiwen."

“Of course,” Lan Zhe said. “President Lu’s work ability is as good as ever, and Assistant Pei is also very professional.”

The implication is that the two of them dating doesn't bother him at all.

Mr. Zhang smoothed things over, saying, "Let's have some tea."

After watching for a while, Lan Zhe narrowed his eyes, "Why does that person always target Assistant Pei?"

Lan Zhe was referring to a B+ level Alpha whose family was in the clothing business. They caught a wave of success and expanded their business in the second half of last year, which boosted the family's status. This gave them the opportunity to enter Kuang Junmeng's circle and become known as Dai Wei.

Dai Wei has always been a rather cunning person. Because he was in the same camp as Kuang Junmeng and dared not offend Cao Guan, he started with Pei Wu, who was skilled and had successfully assisted Cao Guan three to five times in a row.

The last tackle almost tripped Pei Wu; everyone could see it was intentional.

Cao Guan walked over and asked, "What are you doing?"

Dai Wei chuckled nonchalantly, "Brother Cao, since we're going to play, we should go all out."

Before Cao Guan could speak, Kuang Junmeng called the man aside.

Kuang Junmeng suppressed his smile, "I'll only remind you once, just play football, don't cause any trouble. Pei Wu is my friend, and a Beta's physical abilities can't compare to an Alpha's. Don't try to be innocent after getting the benefit."

Dai Wei listened to some of it: "Okay."

It was as if he had taken pity on Pei Wu and let her off the hook.

Pei Wu raised an eyebrow slightly.

Over the next half hour, Pei Wu successfully intercepted the ball three times. His sideways feints and dribbling were fluid and skillful, fooling Dai Wei with a few fakes before successfully passing to Cao Guan. Cao Guan also contributed, scoring two goals.

"Awesome, Pei Zhu!" Guan Yan cheered from the sidelines.

Dai Wei's face immediately turned ugly. He glanced at Guan Yan, and a fleeting emotion flashed in his eyes.

Suddenly a whistle blew, and everyone saw Lu Xiwen stand up.

“I’ll switch with Pei Wu.” Lu Xiwen walked over.

Pei Wu had indeed reached his limit. His chest ached from the rapid breathing. He rubbed his knees to catch his breath, then walked over to Lu Xiwen. The two shook hands lightly, and Pei Wu said in a hoarse voice, "Don't let down the great land I've conquered."

Lu Xiwen said, "I have warm water in my cup. I'll finish it."

Lu Xiwen brought his own meteorite gray cup, which had a very high-quality feel. Pei Wu thought it was beautiful the first time she saw it. She searched for the same model and found that even the counterfeit ones cost four figures, so she decided against it.

I unscrewed it, and sure enough, the cup was more than half full of warm water.

Pei Wu drank several mouthfuls in a row, and his rapid breathing gradually calmed down. He was covered in sweat, and although he was tired, he felt very refreshed.

A gasp rippled through the crowd. When he looked up, he saw Lu Xiwen standing out on the field in his casual attire. It was impossible to compete with the top players in terms of physical strength and endurance. Dai Wei was too eager to show off. The consequence of intercepting Lu Xiwen was that the ball was faster than him. After hitting his chest, he and the ball flew back three meters away.

“Get up,” Lu Xiwen said.

Kuang Junmeng realized that Lu Xiwen would never allow the ball to be at Dai Wei's feet. The sweat from the exercise made Dai Wei's breathing difficult. In that moment of distraction, the ball flew over, and he felt his body become instantly light, and then he went into the goal with the football.

Lu Xiwen glanced indifferently at Dai Wei, who was lying there unable to get up. He didn't even dabble in breathing before turning and leaving the stage.

"What's the point of playing anymore?" Kuang Junmeng signaled the end of the game, giving Dai Wei a cold look. "Why did you provoke that devil? Are they playing with snakes when the top players are on the field?" Lu Xiwen scored four goals in just over ten minutes. It will be a long time before they can catch up.
