Chapter 107 Taking Care of You
In the "Royal Palace" venue, the sounds of Marfa being overthrown echoed one after another. The night here was filled with extravagance and debauchery, and even the lotus chandelier on the ceiling of the venue was dyed reddish gold. Once someone entered and took out money, the flow of the money was no longer under control.
In the high-end area, a single table can easily cost three million, and guests can wear masks if they don't want to be exposed.
Pei Wu won another round. The feathers on the corners of her mask were colorful and beautiful, but her eyes were very calm.
Guan Yan was also wearing a mask and sitting to the side, drinking a cup of hot cocoa.
An Alpha passed by outside the barrier, staring at them intently as he walked.
Guan Yan whispered, "How long have you been practicing your card skills?"
“One or two years, I learned it in college,” Pei Wu explained. “First, I saw a magic show and found it very interesting. I didn’t have many things to do for entertainment back then.”
Pei Wu refused all requests that required money, but easily gave up a deck of cards.
Guan Yan felt that this probably required some talent.
Pei Wu's eyebrows suddenly twitched. He noticed a group of people coming up the stairs on both sides, and then standing guard every two meters to see where their target was.
"Guan Yan, I'm leaving in a bit, you go after me," Pei Wu instructed. "Don't act impulsively."
Guan Yan nodded: "Okay, I'll listen to you."
Then Pei Wu slammed the weights in his hand onto the table with a clatter, looking bored and weary, and stood up, saying, "I'm not playing anymore, let's go."
Naturally, he couldn't leave. Black-clad bodyguards came up to stop him. Enzo, who had lost badly at cards a few days ago, was respectful on the surface but defiant in his eyes. He said to Pei Wu, "Sorry, our boss wants to see you."
"Does he have to see us just because he wants to?" Guan Yan showed obvious unease and pulled Pei Wu to leave.
With a single gesture from Enzo, the road was blocked.
Guan Yan turned around and shouted sternly, "What are you doing?"
Enzo was inexplicably smug. Look at this, this is what Omega are like. No matter how rich or noble they are, the slightest disturbance can make them panic.
“Don’t struggle, our boss means no harm,” Enzo said with a grin. “But what if my men get hurt if you don’t obey?”
Pei Wu took a deep breath: "Your boss only wants to see me?"
“Yes.” Enzo understood what he meant and generously gestured for Guan Yan to make his presence at ease. “Please, sir.”
Seeing that they had quieted down, Enzo ordered, "Take Mr. Pei away."
"Mr. Pei," Pei Wu murmured, relieved that he understood.
Guan Yan stood there and watched Pei Wu enter through a side door until she disappeared from sight.
"Don't be afraid." Enzo leaned close to Guan Yan, using a mix of intimidation and coaxing. "You won't lose any arms or legs, but if you want to cry, you can lend me your shoulder."
Enzo accidentally saw Guan Yan's face while he was washing his hands, and the Eastern bone structure was indeed beautiful.
Guan Yan looked at Enzo.
He removed his mask, and the panic in his eyes quickly subsided.
For a few seconds, Enzo felt inexplicably that something was off.
Why is this Omega suddenly no longer afraid?
“Your shoulder.” Guan Yan said, raising his hand and lightly patting Enzo’s cheek, his words carrying no ambiguity but only a warning. “You should know that I can easily buy this ‘palace.’ Once you start working for me, life won’t be so comfortable. Remember what you just said.”
This was clearly a ploy to settle scores later, and Enzo thought to himself, "Are you crazy?" But faced with Guan Yan's superior demeanor, Enzo didn't dare to lash out for the time being.
Guan Yan left with his bodyguards. As he passed a trash can, he took off the glove that had just slapped Enzo's hand and threw it in.
Pei Wu was taken away from here and then got into a car.
Lai Si was in the passenger seat. After the car started, he turned around and greeted Pei Wu, "Hello."
As soon as the voice came out, Pei Wu recognized it immediately; it was the Omega who had made the sound during the video call with Lu Xiwen that day.
Pei Wu had already removed her mask and nodded, "Hello."
Do you know where you're going next?
"have no idea."
Are you scared?
"A little."
Leith chuckled softly upon hearing the satisfactory answer.
Pei Wu sat "restrained" in the back, and it was clear from her body language that she was very nervous.
It seems that for a long time, such delicate and obedient Omegas have been carefully protected. Lai thought that even Lu Xiwen was no exception, and he thought of the lisianthus he smelled that day. Perhaps the compatibility was very high. Such a high-quality Omega is indeed hard to refuse.
Lai Si inexplicably began to regret her decision to modify her pheromones.
To paraphrase an old saying from the East, "The greatest truths are the simplest." Let's see if we can make some changes later," Lais thought to himself as the car drove into the manor.
The manor in the darkness resembled a giant beast. As the car headlights flashed by, Pei Wu heard fierce barking dogs.
Amos sat in the living room, just as Lu Xiwen had when he first met him—refined, elegant, and exuding the wisdom and intellect of an elder.
“Mr. Pei, is it?” Amos stood up, his feet landing on the expensive carpet, looking surprised and friendly. “My men said it was you, but I couldn’t believe it.”
Pei Wu looked puzzled: "We know each other?"
“This is our first meeting,” Amos said, “but I’ve always worked with Lu.”
"Lu Xiwen!" Pei Wu's expression changed. All his worry, anxiety, and fear were instantly suppressed after he spoke up. His eyes were slightly red, and his voice trembled uncontrollably: "Do you know where he is?"
"I'm very sorry." Amos said emotionally while observing Pei Wu closely. "Our cooperation was very pleasant. Afterwards, he said he was going back to his country. When my people went to pick him up, President Lu was already gone. To be honest, I've been looking for him too. Various forces in Country C are constantly fighting each other. If anything happens to him, I will feel guilty and uneasy."
As Amos recounted the story, Pei Wu's eyes reddened even more, but he suppressed his tears and, after calming himself down, firmly added, "He is a top-tier Alpha; no one can catch him."
"Of course, I think so too."
Pei Wu lowered his eyelashes, the delicate trembling revealing his vulnerability. The black suit originally accentuated his superior physique, but now, with his pale neck lowered, he gave the illusion that he was about to reach his limit.
Yes, he's an Omega. After being marked by top-tier pheromones, he can't accept other Alphas. All the panic and anxiety will only surge in exponentially, and he's probably already on the verge of a mental breakdown.
“It’s getting late, let’s rest here for now,” Amos said. “Please let me take care of you for a while in place of Mr. Lu. I will let you know as soon as I find him. Trust me, it’s very safe here.”
Pei Wu raised her head, her thoughts seemingly reorganized by the power in Amos's words. She was a little lost, yet also a little dependent. "Is that so?"
“Of course.” Amos gave Rhys a look. “Before President Lu shows up, this is the safest place.”
