Chapter 110: Aren't you used to drawing?
The next morning, the maid's scream pierced the sky above the manor.
Amos, his sleep disturbed, frowned and sat up in bed. He rang the bell first, and after the person came in, he asked impatiently, "What's going on outside?"
The maid didn't know how to answer, but Archer followed closely behind and waved the maid away.
Amos saw this expression on Archer's face for the first time, and a strong sense of unease welled up inside him, his tone becoming accusatory: "Are you mute? Speak!"
Archer paused for a moment and then continued, "Both bulldogs... are dead."
"What?!"
Amos appears humble and wise on the surface, but is insane and dark inside. You can tell a thing or two from the dogs he keeps. Lu Xiwen was right before. These two beasts have tasted human flesh, and their bloodthirsty nature has been fully unleashed. They seem capable of swallowing anyone who comes near, except for Amos and their close caretakers. They are extremely ferocious and difficult to control.
In other words, it's extremely difficult for a normal person to kill them.
Amos's first thought was that someone had broken into the manor and shot the dog, but he had a vague feeling that it was impossible. Everything had been peaceful last night. Could it all be for the dog's life? When he saw the scene, Amos's heart sank to the bottom.
There were obvious bite marks; one neck was bitten off, and the other was decapitated. The orchard behind the manor had long been cleared and there were no large wild beasts there.
What's even more terrifying is that these two dogs died without making a sound.
"Master, one of them has marks on its head from being hit with a stick."
Amos's expression was grim. Was it man-made?
He exchanged a glance with Archer, Pei Wu.
This is the only variable in the resort.
"Mr. Amos, what are you all doing here?" Pei Wu, dressed neatly, stepped forward, rubbing her eyes.
Archer tried to stop them, but it was too late. Pei Wu saw the pitiful death of the bulldog, his face gradually turning pale. Then he pursed his lips and asked, "Did they do something wrong?"
Archer was taken aback, realizing that Pei Wu had misunderstood and thought they had killed the bulldog.
“No, Mr. Pei.” Archer said gently, “It’s probably just that wild animals got into the manor. You don’t need to worry.”
Upon hearing this, Pei Wu involuntarily took two steps back, her fear mixed with bewilderment. "A wild beast...aren't we worried about that?"
Amos was in a bad mood; he was almost 100% certain it was deliberate.
But who would dare to do that?
Amos's sixth sense told him that this might be related to Pei Wu, but looking at Pei Wu... a beautiful but useless Omega, either of those two bulldogs could tear him to shreds.
Or perhaps some enemy. Several names flashed through Amos's mind. His wound was throbbing, and it was almost time to change his dressing.
Amos didn't have time to deal with Pei Wu at the moment, so he inevitably showed his contempt for Omegas. "Mr. Pei, leave this to the servants. Please go and have your meal. Later... I'll give you a gift."
Amos felt he had planted a deep seed in Pei Wu's heart. Humans are selfish creatures, and he should know what to say when he sees Lu Xiwen.
Amos thought to himself that he would see whether Lu Xiwen truly cared for Pei Wu and whether he would compromise at that time. If that didn't work, then the only option would be to send this couple to their deaths.
Pei Wu hurriedly returned to his room after finishing breakfast, clearly deeply affected by what happened that morning. Lai Si noticed this and deliberately bumped into Pei Wu. Seeing that he didn't even turn his head, she chuckled softly.
Amos's wounds are healing slowly, and tonight, as usual, a banquet is being held at the manor.
The death of the bulldog left Amos in a bad mood, but the power of Country C needed to be consolidated and challenged periodically.
Amos realized that these were the puppies he had personally brought back. They understood his intentions perfectly. In the early stages of development, they were the ones who helped him deal with people who needed to have their traces completely erased. Like Archer, they were 100% loyal.
Regardless of who killed him, Amos would tear them apart and skin them alive.
On the other hand, Archer investigated carefully, but found nothing.
He also focused on investigating Pei Wu's suspicions.
Of course, with a businesslike tone, like Amos, he didn't believe that such a weak Omega could do something like strangling two bulldogs in the middle of the night and getting unharmed.
Once noon had passed, Archer had to put the matter aside for the time being and start preparing for the dinner.
The people who came today were quite diverse.
Archer checked the list of famous names and discovered that the heir of the Fang family, who was developing the new inhibitor, and that young master Guan would be coming with important government officials.
They're most likely here to see Pei Wu, but it won't have much impact on what happens afterward.
The main problem is that it's hard to refuse.
The Konot family can no longer afford to be too ostentatious.
The fact that new inhibitors were put on the market without their consent is already a huge warning.
After much deliberation, Archer instructed his subordinates to send out invitations.
Time flew by and it was already evening.
Various luxury cars slowly drove into the manor, with familiar faces mixed with some new ones.
Guan Yan arrived first, and after getting out of the car, he lit a cigarette. He brought with him an ancient bronze Buddha statue, which had a solemn appearance and a strong oriental charm. When inspected, it emitted a piercing alarm sound.
Upon hearing the sound, Lai Si stepped forward, then frowned; this material was not easy to handle.
"Don't you like it?" Guan Yan said, exhaling smoke. "If you don't like it, return it to me."
Knowing the man's sarcastic tone, and confirming he wasn't carrying any explosives or similar items, Leith signaled to his men to carry him inside.
Enzo stepped out from Leis's side, affectionately putting his arm around Leis's shoulder, but his eyes were fixed on Guan Yan. "This rose has thorns, you can't handle it."
"Judging from what you're saying, you think you can handle this?" Fang Xiao arrived as well. After retorting to Enzo, he suddenly looked at Guan Yan with schadenfreude.
Guan Yan was initially confused and looked eccentric and indifferent until he saw Chu Lin behind Fang Xiao.
"Cough cough cough..."
I choked a little.
Then Guan Yan threw away the cigarette he had only taken a few puffs of.
Fang Xiao leaned closer: "What's wrong, not used to smoking it?"
Guan Yan glared at him, thinking, "Damn it, didn't you know to give me a heads-up?"
No way, Fang Xiao just wants to see this joke.
Who says no one can control Guan Yan? Chu Lin glanced at him and immediately quit smoking.
Guan Yan pursed his lips, still furious, and stomped hard on Fang Xiao's foot before swaggering into the manor.
Fang Xiao exclaimed "Ouch!" and followed up: "You can't take a joke?"
Chu Lin remained silent, playing the role of a very competent bodyguard.
He paused slightly as he passed Enzo.
The Buddha statue was moved into the warehouse, the sky darkened, the central fountain started operating, and a circle of crescent moon flowers in a basin adorned the area, gradually dissipating a luxurious atmosphere as light as bubbles.
Archer was adept at navigating between the two sides. Rhys, who had been keeping a close eye on Guan Yan and the others, suddenly stood up.
Where is Pei Wu?
I haven't seen him since the start of the banquet.
Without even saying goodbye to Archer, Lace strode upstairs.
Sure enough, the room was empty.
Where could I go? With a sudden inspiration, Leiss rushed to the warehouse on the left side of the first floor.
