Chapter 10 See You There

Lu Zhan stared intently at the woman from the moment she entered the room, his gaze never wavering.

She's an interesting woman.

Unexpectedly, the rural woman was so generous, giving each of his two brothers two gold leaves.

His overall demeanor doesn't resemble that of a wealthy person at all.

But looking at her outfit, it seems like it was intentional; it just doesn't look quite right...

Could it be that there's something wrong with his eyes?

This is probably what most rural women wear.

The man was staring at Su Ying, but Su Ying was also staring intently at the man...

She learned her makeup skills from Gu Sinian, and they were so realistic that they could fool anyone. She was quite confident that no one could tell her true appearance, and she wasn't afraid that the man opposite her would notice anything amiss.

Her voice might betray her age, but she had no other choice; she had to come today because she needed supplies, lots of supplies.

Even if Lu Zhan could determine her actual age, he wasn't worried that the other party would find something to use against her.

It's just a one-time transaction.

After today, we'll be going to the countryside, and we'll all be far apart, scattered across the country, and we'll never see each other again in this lifetime.

In those days, communication was underdeveloped, and finding someone was incredibly difficult, let alone the fact that she had gone to the countryside in such a remote place as Dongshi, thousands of miles away from Shanghai...

It can't be found.

With the jade pendant's spatial ability at her disposal, finding fault with her is simply a pipe dream.

No matter what Lu Zhan is up to, or if he's trying to cheat her out of conscience, he won't succeed. Once the item is in her space, who can find it?

Even if they later discovered something was wrong, she would have already gone to the countryside, so how could they possibly find her?

Even if we knew she was involved in something shady, who could accurately pinpoint her identity?

After all, she was so disguised that even her own mother wouldn't recognize her. With no worries about the future, she swaggered over and found a seat closest to Lu Zhan.

The man crossed his legs and leisurely sized up the woman in front of him. She was a slovenly rural woman. He glanced at her for a couple of seconds and immediately lost interest, getting straight to the point.

"My two underlings told me you wanted to talk business with me?"

Su Ying was not afraid of him, nor was she afraid of the fierce aura emanating from him.

Having been by Gu Sinian's side for so long, what kind of situation haven't I seen? It's just talking business with a black market boss, what's there to be shy about?

The two were equals, neither more noble than the other. They were just doing black market business, something that couldn't be done in the open. Although it sounded very prestigious, Shanghai was cracking down on it. Su Ying saw through it but didn't say anything.

He found a seat closest to Lu Zhan, took a leisurely sip of tea, put down his teacup, and looked directly at the man in front of him.

"That's right. I wonder if Brother Zhan can eat it."

The man found such arrogant words laughable, without even bothering to find out what kind of person Lu Zhan was in Nancheng, that there was no business he couldn't handle.

Whether it's food bought or sold, Lu Zhan can eat it all.

For a country woman to dare say such things, she must be quite capable. Her attire today was merely a ruse to deceive others.

Lu Zhan was really curious to see what kind of face the rural woman was under her disguise. He crossed his arms and watched the woman he was about to make his move.

"Speak your mind directly. I hate people who beat around the bush."

"My reputation as a land commander is well-known in the South City area, otherwise you wouldn't have come to me today to discuss business. Let's get straight to the point."

Su Ying could tell from Lu Zhan's relaxed attitude that this man must have a lot of good stuff in his possession.

In times of scarcity, nothing was more valuable than food.

Since the other party has so much stockpiled goods, and she still has such a large empty space in her space, it's a good thing to store up more food.

Besides, she doesn't plan to use her own assets to buy it; someone will naturally pay for it for her that night.

Thinking about what she was going to do tonight, Su Ying was filled with excitement. Only after she finished this job could she send those eyesores away.

"I want all the grain, flour, and meat you have..."

As Su Ying finished speaking, the living room fell silent, so quiet you could hear a pin drop. Lu Zhan felt a strange mix of wanting to laugh but being unable to, and asked again in disbelief.

Are you sure you want them all?

Su Ying nodded without hesitation, her attitude firm and sincere, "Yes. I want it all, I'll clear out everything you have."

Lu Zhan was somewhat incredulous at the woman's boastful voice below him.

Although she tried to raise her voice, she was too young and could only imitate someone a few years older.

Lu Zhan guessed that she was between twenty-two and twenty-six years old, and was by no means a slovenly rural woman. He stared at her for a long time with a half-smile.

"You talk big without thinking. The grains, flour, coarse grains, and meat I have are worth five yellow croakers. Can you afford that?"

Su Ying didn't want to waste time talking to him, and she didn't bother to haggle anymore. She was in a hurry because she had important things to do that night. Whether she could recoup the money she spent on shopping today depended on this one sale tonight.

She readily pulled out three yellow croakers that she had prepared beforehand from her crossbody bag and slammed them on the table.

The person standing next to Lu Zhan saw the look Lu Zhan gave him and walked up to Su Ying, picking up three yellow croakers to inspect the goods.

After taking a bite, he nodded to the ground fighter who was holding him.

Their eyes met in mid-air, without beating around the bush.

"The remaining two yellow croakers are not on me. I will give them to you when you deliver the goods. Consider the three yellow croakers as a deposit. Once the goods are delivered, the remaining balance will be paid in full."
