Under the bus stop sign near the train station.
Director Li and his wife were standing under the bus stop sign, anxiously waiting for the bus.
Director Li was an impatient man. He waited and waited for the bus, but it still hadn't come. As he grew a little impatient, he glanced at the small package that his wife was protecting.
He was quite curious about what gifts the young woman had given him and his wife. Was it really necessary to wrap them up so elaborately?
I remember a few days ago this little girl came to my door with such a big basket, asking for a favor. She was very polite and even found out that he needed a bicycle ticket.
He was somewhat pleased to know exactly what the couple liked and disliked.
This was the first time someone had taken the time to privately inquire about what the couple lacked and to select a suitable gift based on their preferences; this thoughtfulness touched him deeply.
He was persuaded to use all his connections at any cost to send the little girl to the countryside in the place she designated.
Su Ying was filled with gratitude towards the couple when the matter was settled, so he guessed that although the small package was small, the contents must be very exquisite.
I was a little dismissive of this little package just now, but after calming down and thinking about it, I realized how foolish I had been.
No matter how down on their luck a capitalist's daughter may be, she still lives a better life than those of us from humble backgrounds.
Even a wrecked ship has three nails, let alone a wealthy capitalist's daughter.
He was narrow-minded and couldn't wait to snatch the small package that his wife was carefully protecting.
"Let me see what valuable gift the little girl has given us this time."
The middle-aged woman snorted coldly, not quite agreeing with the old man's idea. Although the young girl was born into a capitalist family and had been raised in luxury since childhood, she was still a good daughter.
But she's down on her luck now. The other day she came to my door with such a big basket of gifts asking for a favor, which must have emptied her of all the money she had left.
How could there possibly be any extra money to buy them gifts? The small package is probably just a small thank-you gift, and it certainly isn't expensive.
After all, the Su family's assets were all registered and confiscated during the first raid, so they probably don't have much money left.
"Don't take it apart, take it apart when you get home, aren't you ashamed?"
"What's shameful about me opening a thank-you gift that someone gave me?"
Ignoring his wife's objections, Director Li snatched the small package and began to unpack it himself. He couldn't wait to get home and open it on the spot.
Upon opening it, the contents were exposed, which startled Director Li so much that his heart pounded. The small package was then put back into its original position.
Director Li swallowed hard, still reeling from the shock. What he had just seen was something he could never achieve even with a lifetime of work.
It was so dazzling, it almost blinded him. He clutched the small package tightly to his chest, cautiously observing the crowd near the bus stop. Luckily, it was still early, and there weren't many people around the bus stop, otherwise, something terrible might have happened...
The young girl was quite polite, giving the couple such a generous gift. His heart was still unsettled. Inside the small package was a set of jewelry, a jade bracelet, and a small packet of gold leaves.
With so many valuable items, the couple could live a very luxurious life in Shanghai.
"That silly girl wouldn't have given all the little bit of property the family had left to the couple, would she?" he thought, tugging at his wife who was still grieving alone.
"Don't be sad. I'll show you something that will make you laugh for three days and three nights straight, and you'll never be able to cry again."
The middle-aged woman looked at her with disdain. "Is there really such a powerful thing?"
She's lived most of her life and never seen anything like it. Don't try to fool her; treat her like an ignorant old woman.
"Does such a thing even exist? I've lived half my life and never seen one. Stop giving me that nonsense."
What suddenly came to mind?
She covered her mouth, looking at the old man with a serious expression, "It's not that thing the government bans, is it?"
"I'm warning you! If you dare to smoke that stuff, I'll break your legs, kick you out, and let you starve to death."
Director Li sighed helplessly, pinched his philtrum, and felt like he was about to faint from anger.
Is he the kind of person who knowingly breaks the law?
You really underestimate him. He still has the most basic conscience a person should have. Stop looking down on him.
Since the other party was his wife, he could only tolerate it and say, "Stop talking nonsense."
He handed the newly opened small package to the middle-aged woman, saying, "This is the small package. It's from a young girl. The gift is quite valuable. When you look at it later, be careful not to let anyone see it, lest I suffer some misfortune."
Hearing the old man say this, the middle-aged woman felt a little uneasy, but her curiosity made her eager to see the small package.
Looking around, he glanced at the crowd and, like a thief, noticed that there weren't many people around. He then darted towards the bus stop sign, using it as cover.
They secretly rummaged through the small package Su Ying had given them, and about two minutes later, the middle-aged woman rushed into the train station with the package in her arms.
Director Li was taken aback, then jogged to catch up, but the old woman's steps were sturdy and he almost couldn't catch up, so he could only shout from behind.
"What's wrong, old woman? Why are you running so fast?"
“Give her the things back. A young girl needs money to survive when she's away from home. If we give them all to her, how is she supposed to live in a foreign land?”
Hearing his wife's words, Director Li quickened his pace considerably and pulled her into his arms.
"Stop! You're so old, running that fast, are you trying to kill yourself? Don't go in yet."
"Why?"
Director Li gestured for her to look up, and the middle-aged woman followed his gaze. The train Su Ying was on had already traveled quite a distance.
