Chapter 67 Obtaining the Marriage Certificate

The next morning.

Gu Sinian arrived at the educated youth settlement early, holding the certificate issued by the brigade that he had just obtained from Sun Xuelin.

Su Ying and Gu Si had already made plans last night to go to the People's Commune to get their marriage certificate first thing this morning.

Knowing that the man was waiting for her, Su Ying rushed out to meet him without even eating breakfast after washing up.

The moment Su Ying saw the man, she ran over quickly, and Gu Sinian opened his arms and pulled her into his embrace.

"No rush. It's not like I'm not waiting for you. You need to be together to get a marriage certificate, so I'm not going to run away."

Su Ying gave him a hard knock, "What kind of time is this to be joking? Are you coming or not? If you're not coming, I'm going back to sleep."

"That won't do." Gu Sinian quickly pulled him back. "We agreed to get our marriage certificate today."

Su Ying was a little nervous. They were probably the first couple in history to get their marriage certificate without telling their parents.

"Are you sure it's okay not to tell your parents? Isn't it a bit inappropriate for us to get our marriage certificate secretly like this?"

Gu Sinian gently tapped her forehead. "Who told you we went to get our marriage certificate secretly? I've already told my grandparents that we're getting married today, and they really approve of our marriage. I'm at the age where I need to settle down and start a family, and getting married is the only important thing right now."

"As for my dad, telling him is the same as telling Ms. Li Yaxian. I don't want her to cause trouble so that we can't get our marriage certificate. She can make a fuss all she wants, I know that better than you do."

"Ever since she conspired with outsiders to drug me, the already thin bond between us as mother and son has weakened even further, and we now treat each other like strangers."

“She was quite kind to me when I was little, but we haven’t been as close since I was sold when I was nine and found when I was twelve.”

Su Ying felt a little sorry for him. He was kidnapped by human traffickers when he was nine years old and it took him three years to return to the Gu family. But things had changed, and once feelings faded, they were hard to rekindle.

Li Yaxian's actions as a mother are very puzzling. She lets things fade away and never thinks about easing tensions. Instead, she dotes on her youngest daughter even more.

Gu Sinian had mentioned Gu Sishi's birth briefly. Originally, Li Yashi had a son and a daughter and was quite content, so she didn't plan to have any more children...

However, Gu Sinian's disappearance made her eager to have a third child to comfort Gu Sinian's loss.

This act of her mother's was quite an eye-opener for her. Fortunately, her mother gave her all her love, and even though her mother is no longer here, she still feels warm when she thinks of her mother.

"Let's not talk about her anymore. Let's hurry up and get going, otherwise we won't be able to get the marriage certificate at noon, and it will be delayed until the afternoon."

"OK."

He helped Su Ying onto the oxcart, and the two slowly set off.

The two left Willow Village quietly, as it was too early and there were no pedestrians on the road.

Once they left Willow Tree Village, Su Ying suggested, "The oxcart is too slow and too bumpy; it's not comfortable at all. Why don't we ride bicycles instead?"

Gu Sinian thought this was a good suggestion. The oxcart was indeed too slow; a bicycle was much faster and more comfortable...

"OK."

As soon as Gu Sinian agreed, Su Ying waved her hand, and the oxcart, along with the people inside, entered the space.

"Tie the cow up, and I'll go get the bicycle."

"Okay." Gu Sinian smiled indulgently.

The two worked together and soon emerged from the space, their bicycles moving slowly along the road.

Su Ying thought to herself that bicycles were more comfortable and faster than oxcarts, and then leisurely took out some food from her spatial storage to eat.

She would take a bite herself and then feed Gu Sinian a bite; before long, both of them were full.

"I'm so full." Su Ying touched her slightly protruding belly.

Gu Sinian smiled indulgently, "Little glutton."

"I'm not greedy. I've fed you until you're full. If you were a little glutton, you would have starved to death."

"Yes, yes, yes. My wife is right."

When Su Ying heard the term "wife," her face flushed red with embarrassment, and her ears turned red without her realizing it. She twisted her waist, and Gu Sinian cried out in pain.

"Don't call me 'your wife' like that, you're shameless."

Gu Sinian didn't care and called out several times, "We've done everything that a husband and wife should do, don't we count as a couple?"

As soon as Gu Sinian finished speaking, her mind automatically replayed the scene of the two of them in bed yesterday, and her face immediately turned as red as a boiled shrimp.

"That was out of necessity. I was giving you the antidote."

"Regardless of our initial intentions, did we do the most intimate thing together?"

Su Ying selectively ignored him, looking left and right but refusing to answer his question directly.

"Focus on riding your bike."

Gu Sinian sighed helplessly. The little girl was still young, and she would adapt eventually. Pushing her too hard would only backfire.

The two chatted about all sorts of things, and an hour later they appeared at the People's Commune.

Su Ying looked at the watch on her wrist, feeling a sense of disbelief.

"My God! The bicycle is more than half as fast as the oxcart. We got to the People's Commune in just one hour. It's incredible."

Gu Sinian also found it unbelievable. When there was only one mode of transportation, the oxcart, he didn't think it was that slow. Now, with the comparison, the oxcart seemed to crawl like a tortoise.

“In the future, we will try to go out in pairs. We can use the oxcart to avoid being seen, and then switch to bicycles, which will save a lot of time.”

"We can stay in the space a little longer, which will increase our time alone. We can plan our time carefully before going back."

Su Ying agreed with the idea, as she would finally no longer have to waste four hours traveling back and forth.

"Okay. We'll do whatever you say, but you're bound to attract some unwanted attention. You should be prepared for that. With her around, we'll still have to ride in your oxcart, swaying and rocking along."
