Chapter 118 Chivalry and Tenderness (Part Two)

Not long after, she suddenly heard several light footsteps in front of her. She straightened up, turned her gaze, and saw that Hua Mancheng was already walking towards her.

Before the other party could speak, she took the lead and laughed heartily: "The renowned swordsman Gongzi Cheng, whose name is famous throughout the city, is indeed well-deserved. I have truly broadened my horizons today."

Meeting her calm and indifferent gaze, Hua Mancheng gave her a meaningful look and said solemnly, "Your Highness is too kind. These moves are nothing but trivial skills, barely enough to fight against tens of thousands of enemy troops."

She had witnessed Hua Mancheng's abilities before. Although his movement and swordsmanship were first-rate, it would be an exaggeration to say that he could fight against ten thousand men. This statement was clearly just to make her happy.

As soon as she finished speaking, Yu Qianqian burst into laughter, but Hua Mancheng across from her remained unmoved, his starry eyes narrowing slightly as he gazed at her bright smile.

A thought struck him, and he quickly lowered his eyelashes. He slowly pulled his right hand out from behind his back, revealing a crystal-clear jade pendant in his palm. Hua Mancheng carefully focused his gaze on her face, speaking in a low and gentle tone.

"This is a mutton fat jade pendant. I heard that the wearer will have a smooth life and be safe forever, so I specially brought it to give to you."

Upon seeing the crystal-clear jade pendant, her eyes instantly lit up. She snatched the pendant from Hua Mancheng's hand and examined herself closely over and over again. Her petite figure appeared even smaller in front of Hua Mancheng, and she had to tilt her head back to barely make out his face.

She raised her lips slightly, revealing a bright smile: "What an exquisite pendant! This must be very valuable, right?"

This thing is indeed quite valuable, after all, it was something he smuggled out of the treasure pavilion when he went to the Regent's Palace to steal the antidote last time.

Hua Mancheng scratched his head and forced a smile at her: "It's not that expensive... I'm glad you like it." He had just finished speaking when he saw that she had already put the jade pendant around her neck.

Just then, a light drizzle began to fall from the sky. "I don't think this rain will stop anytime soon. Let's find somewhere to take shelter as soon as possible." As he spoke, he used both hands to shield Feng Jin's head. The cold raindrops kept falling on his palms, gradually soaking through his snow-white sleeves, but he still wouldn't move an inch.

Looking up at the gray sky, her face darkened, and she muttered to herself, "It was sunny just a moment ago, and now it's raining. What strange weather."

As she spoke, she and Hua Mancheng walked quickly forward. Unexpectedly, before they could even leave the forest, the drizzle suddenly intensified, and in an instant, a storm had completely enveloped them.

However, this made the steep mountain road even more muddy and difficult to navigate in the rain.

Yu Qianqian walked briskly ahead, but before she knew it, the strong wind pushed her foot and she slipped, then she fell several times down the slope.

But she instinctively covered her stomach with both hands until she tripped over a boulder, which forced her to stop halfway up the mountain.

"Your Highness..." Hua Mancheng cried out in surprise and rushed forward. Without saying a word, he picked her up and ran wildly down the mountain path.

At the foot of the mountain, he saw a dilapidated temple not far away. In his desperation, he had no choice but to take the dazed Yu Qianqian inside.
