Chapter Fifty-Four: Another Storm Begins

After learning that Feng Jin was pregnant, Mu Beichen dismissed her from her position as a royal maid and imprisoned her in the palace. When he was not around, she was followed by guards 24 hours a day. As a result, she lost even the most basic right to pursue freedom.

Because of her unplanned pregnancy, she has been incredibly bored lately. All she does all day is eat and sleep. Sometimes she feels so stifled that she can only take a stroll in the garden of the Prince's mansion to clear her head. But after a while, she realizes that there are only a few places in the entire mansion.

What puzzled her even more was that since their last parting, neither Mu Wange nor Hua Mancheng had come to the mansion again, as if they had vanished into thin air.

Even now, Kyoto is still a place of dazzling splendor, with carriages and people flowing endlessly through its crisscrossing streets. The Star Moon Pavilion is always the most cohesive place in the entire city.

Inside the bustling, suspended pavilion, laughter and chatter filled the air. Hua Mancheng sat in one of the corners, surrounded by piles of wine jars on the table. He was drinking alone, his mind hazy with intoxication. Whenever he thought of Mu Wange killing people without blinking an eye in front of him, he felt agitated.

Especially when he thought about how he could only watch helplessly as those powerful and influential people bullied and monopolized the market, unable to stop them from beginning to end, he felt self-blame, anger, and madness. All these thoughts surged in his chest, difficult to suppress, yet with nowhere to be released.

What good is his martial arts skill, no matter how formidable? In the end, won't he still bow down to power? Throughout history, how many powerful and influential officials and their families have been truly clean in body and mind? Must this world continue to be a chaotic mess, bound by rules and regulations?

He shook his head and chuckled, staring coldly at the wine on the table. He suddenly saw Mu Wange's arrogant demeanor. Suddenly, his eyes darkened, and he simply picked up the wine jar and smashed it to pieces with a loud crack!

People around looked over at the sound and saw several burly men walking towards Hua Mancheng. In the blink of an eye, the two sides collided. The men stared at him intently, each of them looking fierce and menacing.

Hua Mancheng, however, ignored this and with a flick of his sleeve, stood up and prepared to leave.

The burly men stepped forward to block his path. One of them stood out first and shouted angrily, "Don't you know what kind of place this Star Moon Pavilion is? The only reason we let you in was because of Prince Jing. You brat, you don't know how to be polite. You actually dare to think you can eat and drink for free here. I think you're just asking for a beating!"

"Come on! Let's teach this brat a lesson!"

Slowly turning around, Hua Mancheng met his gaze without changing his expression. A cold laugh immediately escaped his thin lips: "Hmph! You ants dare to lay a hand on me?"

"Enough with the nonsense! Daring to dine and dash at Xingyue Tower is courting death!"

Those burly men showed no sign of backing down. They began to rub their fists together, their eyes locked on Hua Mancheng, and they quickly approached him.

"Alright! Anyone who's tired of living, come on! But don't blame me for not warning you, you'll be beaten to a pulp later, don't regret it!" As he spoke, Hua Mancheng's figure flashed quickly, bypassing the others and rushing straight to the back of the big man in the center of the crowd.

He lifted the big man by the right shoulder, and a cracking sound followed. The big man's arm joint had been twisted out of place!

Then, he suddenly raised his right leg and, like lightning, kicked the rest of them away! In an instant, the big men fell to the ground, clutching their heads and rolling around, and screams echoed throughout the Star Moon Tower!

Not long after, another group of people rushed into the Xingyue Tower. They were armed with sharp knives, dressed identically, and formed an orderly formation. The man at the front was the first commander of the Ministry of Personnel—the Minister of Personnel.

The area immediately fell silent, and people consciously stepped aside to make way for these people.

The Minister of the Imperial Secretariat led his subordinates directly to Hua Mancheng, then suddenly stopped. He put his hands behind his back and immediately shouted coldly, "Hua Mancheng, you have committed multiple murders, and the local government has yet to apprehend you. Yet you continue to act recklessly and refuse to change your ways. Today, I will definitely arrest you and bring you to justice!"

"Come on! Take this habitual offender down!"

As soon as he finished speaking, everyone raised their knives and surrounded Hua Mancheng!

The Duke of Zhenguo's Mansion

"Princess...Princess...Something terrible has happened!"

Seeing the servants shouting and yelling from afar, Mu Wange slowly turned around, gradually revealing an extremely impatient expression. Finally, she casually asked, "What happened that made you so surprised?"

The servant rushed to Mu Wange and said breathlessly, "When I passed by Xingyue Tower just now, I saw that Young Master Cheng was trapped by the government officials."

"What did you say?"

Hearing the name "Gongzi Cheng" in particular, Mu Wange was startled and instantly froze. Hua Mancheng had only been gone for a short time, yet he had already offended the government so quickly. It seemed that this was bound to be a big problem.

After a slight hesitation, she gradually regained her composure, slowly stood up, took a few steps forward, and then asked, "Are you sure you saw it clearly?"

The servant quickly replied, "Absolutely true! I would never dare to joke about something that concerns lives!"

“Alright, you’ll come with me now to rescue them.” With that, Mu Wange raised her eyebrows and quickly turned her bright, watery eyes. She suddenly stopped in her tracks, and an unusually mysterious smile immediately bloomed on her face: “Wait, before that, I need to bring a magic weapon.”

Meanwhile, at this moment, the breathtaking scene was still unfolding at Xingyue Tower. The subordinates following the Minister of Works quickly surrounded the entire tower, leaving no room for escape. Seeing that Hua Mancheng had nowhere to hide, he clearly had no other choice but to risk his life and fight him to the death.

He clenched his fists tightly, preparing to exert his power again, when suddenly he felt a sharp pain in his head, and his whole body began to feel weak and powerless. He couldn't even stand up, let alone fight back.

He struggled to suppress the surging, violent attack within his body, trying his best to stay awake. Countless thoughts raced through his mind. Suddenly, he realized that the problem lay with the alcohol. But it was too late. Today, he was destined to become someone else's prey.

Through his blurred vision, he seemed to see the people beside the Minister of the Imperial Secretariat raising their blades and charging at him. He felt his consciousness fading and his body going limp as he collapsed...
