Chapter Fifty-One: Undercurrents of Love

The sight of Feng Jin and Mu Beichen being affectionate in public was etched into people's minds.

Clenching her fists, Mu Wange rushed over and shoved Feng Jin aside, then called out in annoyance, "Brother Mu, don't be fooled by that cunning woman! Her methods are incredibly vicious!"

With a long sigh, Mu Beichen was extremely impatient with Mu Wange's spoiled behavior. He tried his best to suppress his irritation and said in a deep voice, "Wange, I'm letting bygones be bygones for now because you're still young. But if you cause trouble again, don't blame me for turning my back on you."

Seeing Mu Beichen looking unhappy because Feng Jin was injured, she felt even more wronged. From childhood to adulthood, she had always been protected by her two older brothers, who would not even bear to let her suffer the slightest injury. However, since Feng Jin married into the Jing Prince's Mansion, she had almost completely lost her cousin's favor.

Glancing coldly at Feng Jin's face, Mu Wange said irritably, "Hmph! It's just a scratch, why are you so nervous? I just got kicked in the butt by her!"

Seeing her unreasonable behavior, Mu Beichen shook his head helplessly, his thin lips slightly parted, his tone still habitually cold.

“Wange, your sister-in-law’s wound on her face can’t be left untreated. Let’s go home and get her treated first. Be careful on your way home.”

As soon as he finished speaking, without giving Mu Wange a chance to say anything more, he decisively turned around, took Feng Jin's hand, and quickly walked out of everyone's sight.

Watching the two figures gradually disappear into the distance, Mu Wange was filled with resentment. She bit her lower lip and cursed under her breath, "Now that he has a wife, he doesn't care about his sister's life or death anymore. What a jerk who values women over friends!"

Hua Mancheng, however, watched with great interest. He raised his eyebrows slightly and noticed Mu Wange's unusually sharp gaze. Without thinking, he immediately strode over to her.

With his arms crossed in front of him, he looked closely into Mu Wange's eyes. His pupils reflected a dejected little face. He grinned and couldn't help but chuckle with schadenfreude: "Tsk tsk tsk... Look at you, Princess Yunqi. Even when you're a guest at someone else's house, you can still cause chaos. Aren't you ashamed?"

"I imagine anyone who ends up with a sister like you wouldn't have an easy time, right?"

Upon hearing this, Mu Wange was furious. She raised her jade-like finger and aimed it at Hua Mancheng's face, shouting in a hoarse voice, "Hua Mancheng, if you still dare to favor that bitch Feng Jin, I'll make you taste what it's like to wish you were dead!"

What a venomous mouth! Hua Mancheng feigned surprise, staggering backward, but his expression remained unchanged, his bright eyes sparkling in the sunlight.

"What? Looking at your fierce expression, are you planning to fight me again?"

His words were undoubtedly meant as a joke and a provocation, but they unexpectedly reminded Mu Wange of her disheveled state after being defeated by Feng Jin.

"I'm feeling tired today and I don't want to talk to you!" Mu Wange turned her head away as if nothing was wrong, afraid that Hua Mancheng would see through her thoughts.

"Oh?" Rarely seeing her so flustered, Hua Mancheng immediately became interested. He leaned forward, his tall and straight body bent into a bow shape, and his handsome face slowly approached Mu Wange's eyes. He smiled slightly and said, "Could it be... that you just wanted to give up and become a deserter because you suffered a defeat earlier?"

"..."

As he spoke, a warm and fragrant breath continuously wafted from Hua Mancheng's thin lips.

Her face flushed, and she unconsciously lowered her eyelashes, her beautiful bright eyes almost completely covered by her long, thick eyelashes. Facing him so closely for the first time, Mu Wange was so nervous that she shut her mouth and became speechless for a moment.

"My affairs are none of your business!" Enraged, she shoved Hua Mancheng hard and fled from his sight.

Meanwhile, the Regent's Palace was in turmoil. Especially after Mu Shengyue handed over all the gold and silver treasures of Qianyuan Palace to the court, Mu Feiyu was still holding a grudge. He had spent so much time and effort to get that money, and now it had been taken away by the court for nothing. He could only grit his teeth and swallow this bitter pill.

The more he thought about it, the angrier he became, wishing he could immediately lead his troops to dismantle the national treasury.

At this moment, a guard suddenly ran in from outside the door, knelt down and said to Mu Feiyu, "Your Highness, Consort Yao is outside requesting an audience."

Upon hearing the name Feng Yao, Mu Feiyu turned around abruptly and sneered coldly, "Hmph! She's finally decided to leave the palace."

"Let her in!" With that, he flicked his sleeve and slowly sat down.

Not long after, Feng Yao entered. Upon seeing Mu Feiyu sitting in the center of the main hall with his legs crossed and a cold expression on his face, she raised her slender eyebrows slightly, walked forward unhurriedly, and slowly said, "Your Majesty is currently busy with state affairs, so I took the time to come and pay my respects to my Imperial Uncle. How have you been lately?"

With her eyes slightly lowered, she casually played with the strands of hair beside her temples, as if Feng Yao didn't exist in front of her at all.

Mu Feiyu's familiar action immediately reminded Feng Yao of the scene where the other party had crushed a purple crystal glass ball in front of her last time. Her face darkened, and cold sweat quickly broke out on both sides of her cheeks.

After a while, Mu Feiyu suddenly opened her eyes and looked at Feng Yao with a half-smile: "Consort Yao, you still know to come? I almost thought that now that you've risen to a high position, you've forgotten which way the Regent's Palace gates face."
