Chapter Nine Transactions

Just as he stepped out of the Prime Minister's residence, Mu Beichen suddenly stopped. He raised an eyebrow and looked down at Feng Jin, a bright smile blooming on his handsome face: "Look, didn't I cooperate quite well?"

Following up on his words, Feng Jin suddenly asked, "Mu Beichen, how old are you this year?"

Upon hearing this, his face paled.

She glanced at Mu Beichen and snorted coldly, "Do you know that Qiao Manxi and Feng Yao, that heartless mother and daughter, embezzled a large sum of my dowry? I originally wanted to take this opportunity to get back this debt, but now you've ruined everything. What sins did I commit in my past life to encounter such a treacherous person like you!"

After a long pause, Mu Beichen raised an eyebrow, a smile spreading across his handsome face: "It's just money, isn't it? That's easy. As long as you help me with one thing, you can choose any gold and silver jewelry in the Jing Prince's mansion. How about it?"

Feng Jin didn't reply immediately. All she wanted to do was break free from Mu Beichen's hands that were wrapped around her waist. But unexpectedly, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't shake him off, and he was staring at her with a lewd grin.

"Mu Beichen, I don't care what your intentions are in doing this." Her anger finally reached its peak. She suddenly raised her left leg and stomped on Mu Beichen's foot with all her might. She said through gritted teeth, "I advise you to take off that smug smile right now, otherwise, I can't guarantee that I won't cripple you because of a hand cramp."

Mu Beichen stared at her blankly, remaining silent for a long time.

"And... Mu Beichen, what do you take me for? Let me tell you, I will never sell my body for anything in this lifetime, so you might as well give up on that idea!" With her back to him, she spoke each word with utmost resolve, her voice as cold and sharp as the wind, echoing in Mu Beichen's ears again and again.

The sky darkened quickly; several cool, grayish-white clouds instantly overlapped in the azure sky, completely covering the heavens. The distant mist and rain blurred their figures.

After a long silence, Mu Beichen suddenly shook his head and laughed: "I only asked you to attend a banquet, when did I ask you to sell your body?"

"What did you say?" Feng Jin turned her head to look at Mu Beichen, her expression instantly changing: "Then I want thirty million taels of gold, plus that original painting by the Sage of Painting, the double-eared lotus porcelain vase, and... and..."

"Stop, stop, stop..." Mu Beichen quickly intervened, seeing her greedy expression, and said, "How come I didn't realize before that you were such a greedy woman?"

A sly glint flashed in Feng Jin's beautiful eyes. She strolled forward, hooking her jade-like fingers around Mu Beichen's collar, and smiled like a gentle breeze: "Since Your Highness says I'm greedy, then fine, I'll just greedily take Your Highness's body as well, how about that?"

Mu Beichen felt an intolerable humiliation from Feng Jin's teasing words. His face darkened instantly, and he angrily cursed at her, "Shameless!"

As soon as he finished speaking, he tossed Feng Jin aside, quickly stepped into the carriage, and immediately ordered the sedan chair bearers to drive away.

As Feng Jin chased after the carriage through the storm, panting, she called out to Mu Beichen, "Then I don't want anything else, just thirty million taels of gold... three million... one hundred thousand..."

But... no matter how she shouted, the carriage that was moving further and further away in her sight showed no sign of stopping. In just a moment, all she could see was a hazy world covered by the rain.

The lush green leaves by the roadside swayed precariously in the fierce wind and rain. In an instant, the suffocating cold air swept in, and the petite woman, her back to her child, drifted in the darkness, finding it increasingly difficult to walk...

Upon returning to Prince Jing's residence, Feng Jin immediately fell ill with a cold.

She was fed a bunch of random supplements and lay in bed all night before she finally showed some improvement.

"Miss, the Prince... the Prince has arrived!" Lingzhi rushed into the room with a bowl of medicine in her hand and couldn't wait to report to Feng Jin.

She's already so sick, yet that damned Mu Beichen is still haunting her. The most unfortunate thing in life is being entangled with a shameless scoundrel.

Feng Jin glanced irritably towards the door. "What's he doing here?"

"His Highness has finally come to Fuxi Courtyard to see Miss. You must seize this opportunity and persuade His Highness to stay." After saying this, Lingzhi led Xia Ning and Xia Xi out before Mu Beichen entered the room.

Mu Beichen strolled forward, his eyes fixed on Feng Jin as he carefully examined her. "I heard that the Princess Consort is ill, so I came here specifically to see if you are alright."

Yes, yes, if it weren't for you, how could I have gotten soaked in the rain for nothing?

"Thanks to you, I'm still alive!" Feng Jin turned her head away irritably, then muttered to herself in a low voice, "I wonder where she ran off to on her wedding night, and now she remembers me, her princess."

Feng Jin spoke very softly, but Mu Beichen heard every word. He sat up and slowly moved his face closer to the bed, chuckling softly, "Does the Princess mean that everything should revolve around the wedding night?"

"Mu Beichen!" Staring at the man who had maliciously mocked her, Feng Jin's face flushed red, and she shouted angrily, "You can't take advantage of my constant concessions and make fun of me like this!"

"Hey! Who told you to run around in the rain? Now you know what it means to feel comfortable, right?" Frowning with a mix of amusement and exasperation, Mu Beichen picked up the medicine bowl beside him and personally fed it to Feng Jin's lips, seemingly very patient.

"Get away! I don't need your fake kindness!" Feng Jin forcefully swung Mu Beichen's hand away, and with a "smash!" knocked over the medicine bowl.

"You!" Mu Beichen's voice was deep and cold, and a chilling aura appeared on his exceptionally handsome face.

“I…” Feng Jin stared at the spilled medicine on the ground, her eyes darting around, a strange look appearing on her face: “Mu Beichen, don’t think I don’t know what you’re thinking. The reason you’ve been trying so hard to please me is just to expand your influence through the Prime Minister’s mansion, isn’t it?”

Upon hearing Feng Jin's words, Mu Beichen's unfathomable eyes suddenly changed. He straightened up and said coldly, "Heh... Since you have seen through everything, then I don't need to beat around the bush anymore. The imperial banquet in half a month is of utmost importance to me, and I hope you will cooperate."

"Is this true?" Feng Jin's eyes lit up instantly. No way, they found out his secrets so easily?

She leaped off the bed, patted Mu Beichen on the shoulder, and grinned mischievously: "Since Your Highness enjoys acting, then I'll grant your wish."

Seeing Feng Jin's roguish appearance, Mu Beichen's face instantly darkened. If it weren't for her very familiar face, I would really doubt whether you are Feng Jin. You wouldn't have acted so frivolously before.

He stepped back and said slowly, "Your Highness is in good spirits. It seems you are well. I happen to be short of a servant to serve tea and water. How about... you come?"
