Chapter 153 Unhappy
When Chu Mingheng spoke these words, his expression was somewhat complicated. He sensed from the memories in his mind that the words and actions of another "self" were not unlike those of an emperor, but when facing Lan Wu, he always showed a sense of urgency and panic.
Ultimately, he himself had never experienced Lan Wu's departure, but just thinking about it was enough to make his heart clench, as if being pricked by needles.
Such feelings might be enough to drive him crazy.
“How could he be acting crazy…” Lan Wu felt a little awkward and didn’t want to hear him scold himself. Although it was his past life, the memories of the two people were gradually coming together, and it sounded like Chu Mingheng was scolding himself.
She coughed lightly and said, "I feel fine."
Because she was sleeping on the couch, Lan Wu was dressed lightly, her long black hair cascading down like a waterfall, with a strand falling over her chest, which made her skin look white and gave her a unique gentleness and charm.
"Does Your Majesty remember everything that happened that day?" Lan Wu asked cautiously, glancing at Chu Mingheng's expression as she spoke.
Chu Mingheng lowered his eyes, still sorting out his thoughts, when suddenly his expression froze, and he looked up at Lan Wu.
To be precise, he was staring at the crimson hue beneath Lan Wu's clothes, where her neck connected to her collarbone.
His expression gradually turned cold, and he reached out and slightly pulled open Lan Wu's collar.
Lan Wu belatedly noticed a hickey on her collarbone when she looked down.
It was Chu Mingheng who did it yesterday.
Even though it was the same person, the situation gave Lan Wu the illusion that she had been caught cheating.
She opened her mouth as if to explain, but at that moment an arm firmly gripped her lower back, pulling her forward slightly. Her clothes were half-open, and the bodice underneath concealed a patch of skin.
Lan Wu's face flushed red as she saw Chu Mingheng reach out and gently press his finger against the hickey, his expression conveying an ambiguous meaning that was far from one of pleasure.
She felt wronged. It wasn't her who was causing the problem; Chu Mingheng had done it himself, yet she was being made to take the blame.
"Awu, I am somewhat displeased," Chu Mingheng said slowly and quietly.
As he spoke, he reached his hand down Lan Wu's back and touched the ribbon of her bodice. He playfully tugged at the thread, refusing to untie it, as if listening to Lan Wu's explanation.
Lan Wu had nothing to explain; she had Chu Mingheng's biggest weakness.
"Are you unhappy?" Lan Wu glanced at him, then lowered her head and said sullenly, "I'm unhappy too. Do you think I'm having a good time?"
First, she was inexplicably dragged into the old grudges of the late emperor's concubines and died tragically. Then, she inexplicably came back to life. Now, she has learned that her resurrection is related to Chu Mingheng. It's only because she is carefree that she has such a big heart. If it were someone with a more sensitive mind, they might have driven themselves to their death after experiencing these things.
Chu Mingheng loosened the ties of Lan Wu's bodice, hugged her and kissed her, soothingly saying, "No, I'm not that unhappy. I'm happiest when A-Wu is by my side."
Lan Wu struggled, but couldn't break free from his grip. Instead, a warm kiss landed on her neck, then moved down to cover the previous kiss mark, and she took a light bite.
Lan Wu stopped moving and waited until he completely covered the hickey before finally letting go. She then separated herself slightly from him and saw that his gaze was still on her.
He looked like a tiger about to faint from hunger, his eyes fixed on her.
Lan Wu reached out and gathered her clothes, then rolled over and wrapped herself in the blanket, asking Chu Mingheng again, "Your Majesty, do you remember everything?"
Time waits for no one, she still had important business to attend to.
Chu Mingheng then gently pressed his forehead, closed his eyes, and slowly said, "I've remembered some of it."
Some? How many is "some"?
"Do you remember what Master Huifan said?" This is the most important question.
Lan Wu observed his expression and saw that he seemed to hesitate for a moment before opening his eyes again and asking, "What did Hui Fan say?"
I still can't remember.
Lan Wu sat opposite him, thinking that Chu Mingheng should know these things too, otherwise he would find out on his own, and there was no point in hiding it.
So he told him everything that Master Huifan of Nanli Temple had said.
“Master Huifan said that if I go to Changyong Mountain to pray for blessings for three months, you will be well.”
Lan Wu blinked, stepped forward, and smiled, saying, "I haven't been to Changyong Mountain yet, it would be nice to go."
Chu Mingheng listened to Lan Wu's words in silence. Even after Lan Wu finished speaking, he didn't give her a smile. Instead, he pressed her on the question, asking, "How long did he say he would be gone?"
“Three, three months,” Lan Wu replied.
Chu Mingheng gritted his teeth and was about to get up: "I will have his dilapidated temple smashed right now."
What?
Lan Wu hurriedly chased after him and hugged his waist to prevent him from getting off the bed.
"Why did you smash up Nanli Temple? Master Huifan wasn't lying. He was giving us advice—" Lan Wu hugged him and struggled to pull him back. She had barely caught her breath when Chu Mingheng grabbed her chin.
Chu Mingheng's face loomed large before her, exuding a fierce aura, but it wasn't aimed at her.
"I think he's just spouting nonsense. Who knows what he's really up to?"
Seeing that he was really angry, Lan Wu had already anticipated it. She gently pushed Chu Mingheng's hand away, turned her back and sat to the side, lowering her head and pretending to wipe away tears.
"Though I am foolish, I know that surviving this ordeal was incredibly difficult. Although I didn't have to exert myself, how much did His Majesty do for me? I don't know, and neither do you now..."
Therefore, Lan Wu could not blame Chu Mingheng for being so crazy in his previous life. Chu Mingheng himself could say these things, but she could not say them, and she could not even think of them.
"Is it wrong for me not to want you to die? I just want us to live well. Can you listen to me this once? If you knew this would happen, why did you save me, only to leave me all alone in the end?"
As she spoke, Lan Wu was overcome with sorrow, and tears streamed down her face like a string of pearls.
Chu Mingheng watched her crying loudly with her back turned, feeling somewhat helpless.
"I won't die." He moved closer to Lan Wu, pulled her slender figure into his arms, and sighed softly, "I'm perfectly fine, how could I die?"
Only Lan Wu could do that, constantly saying things like he was going to die. If word got out, she would be the first person punished.
Chu Mingheng himself felt that Hui Fan was exaggerating, but Lan Wu believed him.
"At first it was a headache and fever... then I fainted, and the pain would get worse..." Lan Wu turned her head away from him, tears falling into the quilt, "I don't know when I will wake up and never wake up again."
Do you want me to see this side of you?
"Didn't you say you'd take me to see the flowers in the fields this spring?" Lan Wu stared at him with red, tearful eyes, reached out and poked his chest, and said slowly, "How can you take me to see the flowers when you're fast asleep?"
