Chapter 81 I Can't Find You

Chapter 81 I Can't Find You

He muttered something to himself, then turned and got off the bed to extinguish the candle.

Lan Wu felt uneasy. She hadn't received a definite answer from Chu Mingheng, and she knew his temperament well. She didn't know if he would agree today, and who knew if he would just forget about it in a few days.

As the candles in the hall were extinguished, a figure entered the bed and tried to hold her while she slept, but she nimbly dodged.

Chu Mingheng assumed she had just moved slightly, so he reached out again.

Lan Wu dodged away in the dark again.

The moonlight was almost nonexistent tonight, obscured by thick clouds. Only the faint glow of palace lanterns illuminated the windows of the palace, but even that dimmed the light, making the palace pitch black. For a moment, nothing could be seen.

Chu Mingheng reached to the side but couldn't find Lan Wu. He said, "A Wu, where are you running to?"

There was no reply from the bed, only the soft breathing of the two people.

Chu Mingheng's expression was inscrutable. He straightened up, gently supporting himself on the couch with his arms. His eyes were sharp as an eagle's, and he searched for Lan Wu's figure inch by inch in the unseen space between the couches.

For some reason, under these circumstances, an indescribable sense of panic and oppression suddenly rose in his heart. He could neither see Lan Wu nor hear her voice, as if... Lan Wu had suddenly disappeared from his side.

"Lan Wu, speak! I need to know where you are." Chu Mingheng's voice turned solemn and sounded somewhat fierce, startling Lan Wu.

She hesitated for a moment, and was about to speak timidly when she made some noise as she crawled toward Chu Mingheng.

Chu Mingheng grabbed her arm and pulled her back, which suddenly made Lan Wu feel a little pain.

She frowned, her whole body almost completely enveloped in Chu Mingheng's arms, tightly holding her captive.

She struggled and let out a soft cry of pain.

Chu Mingheng was taken aback, and then released her slightly.

"I'm calling you, why aren't you speaking?" His face was hidden in the darkness, but his words sounded rather fierce to Lan Wu.

She tightened her lips and explained in a low voice, "I was just about to speak when you caught me."

"It's so late at night, what are you going to do on this bed? You can't see anything, what if you bump into something?" Chu Mingheng grabbed her waist and pulled her onto his body, pinching her in his anger.

"Ouch!" Lan Wu cried out, unable to resist leaning forward and crashing into Chu Mingheng's arms.

She let out a soft "Ouch!" afraid of upsetting him, and rubbed her face against him haphazardly, completely unaware that she had almost opened Chu Mingheng's nightgown. She only felt that the body she was pressing against was getting hotter and hotter.

Finally, she realized what was happening, her body stiffened, and she tried to get off Chu Mingheng.

Chu Mingheng stopped him from doing so.

He didn't speak, but his hands had already deftly unfastened Lan Wu's underpants and tossed them aside.

Lan Wu couldn't escape, and she lay on him, regretting that she shouldn't have responded to him.

She had already admitted her mistake while panting, but Chu Mingheng didn't say a word.

She became somewhat anxious and flustered, and pleaded with him in a hoarse voice to say something.

"Your Majesty, Your Majesty——"

Chu Mingheng did it on purpose. Now that it was dark and he couldn't see anyone, he used Lan Wu's own methods against her. Even though Lan Wu cried her eyes out on him, he didn't say a word.

Lan Wu bit his shoulder, tears streaming down her body to his waist.

I slept soundly until dawn, and when I slowly woke up, it was almost daylight.

Lan Wu turned her head and saw Chu Mingheng's jade-like face. Her thoughts gradually became clear, and she was furious.

When she saw Chu Mingheng's face clearly, she was slightly surprised—why did she think Chu Mingheng's face looked a little red?

I reached out and touched it; it was still a little hot.

Chu Mingheng has a fever!?

Lan Wu was startled and quickly got up from the bed. As she stepped off the bed, her legs went weak and she almost fell. She hissed softly, but ignored it and put on her outer robe to go outside and call for someone.

Before long, the imperial physician arrived at Yilan Palace.

Lan Wu wearily dressed and sat down in a chair, thinking to herself that Chu Mingheng was usually incredibly strong, and last night he had been pulling her around with great force, yet today he was sick.

She looked at Chu Mingheng's calm face with his eyes closed. Apart from being a little warmer than usual, she couldn't tell that he was sick.

She had called Chu Mingheng's name a few times by the bedside, but he didn't wake up or respond at all. She felt a strange sense of unease.

The imperial physician said that Chu Mingheng only had a slight fever, and that drinking a dose of medicine to induce sweating would make him fine.

Lan Wu was relieved and told someone to quickly prepare the medicine.

Suddenly, some noise came from the bed.

Lan Wu's face lit up with joy, and she hurriedly ran around the screen.

On the bed, Chu Mingheng had already woken up. He sat up, his head lowered, his nightgown on his body and his hair hanging down, but he exuded a quiet tyranny.

Even Lan Wu was somewhat afraid to make a sound.

“…Your Majesty?” She took a few steps away, but still called out to him.

The person on the bed suddenly raised their head as if they had been revived from a stupor.

Lan Wu was startled by his bloodshot eyes and immediately rushed over, anxiously frowning as she cupped his face in her hands: "Your Majesty, what's wrong? The imperial physician... didn't the imperial physician say it was just a common fever? Why are your eyes so red—"

When Chu Mingheng was approached, he instantly came to his senses, reached out and lifted her onto the bed, holding her tightly in his arms. He buried his face in Lan Wu's neck, smelled the fragrance on her body, and couldn't help but open his mouth and gently nibble the skin on her neck.

Lan Wu felt a tickle and reached out to pat his shoulder: "It's only morning!"

"Awu..." Chu Mingheng called her name, repeating it again and again, "Awu, Awu, Awu..."

"Why did you call out so many times?" Lan Wu was puzzled. She reached out to touch his forehead, wondering if he had lost his mind due to a fever.

Chu Mingheng breathed a sigh of relief, pulled Lan Wu out of his arms, examined her carefully, and said slowly, "I had a dream."

Lan Wu's ears perked up, and she looked at him: "What dream?"

"I'm looking for you, but I can't find you anywhere." Even recalling his dream made Chu Mingheng's heart ache. "You know, Yilan Palace is so small, how come I can't find you anywhere?"

Lan Wu frowned and said, "Perhaps I am not in Yilan Palace."

"Nonsense!" Chu Mingheng snapped, biting her neck again. "Where are you going if you're not here!"

Lan Wu nudged him innocently and angrily: "Why did you bite me? If I wasn't in Yilan Palace, I might be in the Imperial Garden, or I might have gone to the Imperial Study to find you. You're yelling at me because of a dream, how pathetic!"

Chu Mingheng was taken aback, realizing something from her words. He finally suppressed the intense despair and terror in his dream, gritted his teeth, and said hatefully, "If you ever play these 'fumbling in the dark' games with me again, I'll beat your buttocks to a pulp!"

"You!" Lan Wu blushed and retorted fiercely, "You scoundrel!"
