Chapter 32 Waiting for a Rabbit to Fall into a Trap

Chapter 32 Waiting for a Rabbit to Fall into a Trap

These are just some storybooks, only the content of which is somewhat erotic.

In her previous life, Chu Mingheng forbade her to read these books, but it was Lan Wu's own hobby. She loved reading storybooks. In the past, when she was in the music hall, she could only ask someone to bring one or two books into the palace. Now that she was a concubine, it would be much easier to bring these books in.

About ten copies have already been placed in Lanwu Palace, and some more haven't been delivered yet.

Unfortunately, Chu Mingheng caught him red-handed.

Chu Mingheng flipped through the pages of the book, then turned his gaze to Lan Wu, said nothing, and closed the book.

The storybook was gently tossed on the ground; the sound was so soft that it made Lan Wu shudder.

She straightened up and whispered in her defense, "I was just curious and took a look."

Chu Mingheng didn't say anything, nor did he say he would scold her. He simply pulled her up and sat her down on the low table.

Lan Wu tilted her head back and was kissed.

She was stunned and didn't react when she was kissed. The kiss ended quickly, and Chu Mingheng told her to go out for a meal.

"Ah? Oh..." You're having breakfast so early today.

She didn't let her guard down so quickly, thinking that Chu Mingheng didn't care. However, until dinner was over, Chu Mingheng remained indifferent, as if he didn't take the matter to heart at all.

After dinner, Chu Mingheng said he would take her for a stroll in the Imperial Garden.

Lan Wu hesitated for a moment, then said "okay," and went to look at herself in front of the bronze mirror in the inner hall, changing a few hairpins in her hair.

She was already pretty enough, but she still felt it wasn't enough. When she was going out with Chu Mingheng, she should naturally dress up to be the most beautiful one.

She didn't keep Chu Mingheng waiting long, and soon ran out like a fluttering butterfly.

Lan Wu wore a peach-pink dress today, with gold thread trim on the hem shimmering in the twilight. Her hair was adorned with a kingfisher feather and coral hairpin, and she wore tourmaline and glass leaf earrings, making her look bright and dazzling.

Chu Mingheng hadn't had any dreams for the past few days, but in a daze, he saw Lan Wu running towards him, and it was as if he saw another scene—it seemed that Lan Wu was crying again.

"Your Majesty?" Lan Wu approached him, saw his deep gaze, stopped and called out softly.

"Okay, let's go."

Lan Wu was dissatisfied. She circled around Chu Mingheng twice and asked him, "Your Majesty, am I not pretty? Why don't you look at me?"

Chu Mingheng pinched Lan Wu's small face, leaned closer to take a closer look at her, and then said in a light voice, "Watch her to your heart's content tonight."

Lan Wu choked, pursed her lips, and stepped back.

Chu Mingheng hadn't touched her at all the previous two days, giving her time to recover. She thought she would have to recover today as well, but she never expected that a single sentence would put her in such a predicament.

She quickly changed the subject: "It's still light out, Your Majesty. Let's... let's go out quickly. This is the first time Your Majesty has accompanied me to the Imperial Garden, and I'd like to stay a little longer."

Chu Mingheng glanced at her and said, "Consort Zhen, this is the second time."

Having said that, he was the first to leave the palace.

Lan Wu paused for a moment, then quickly understood what he meant. Her face turned completely red, and hot breath rose up her face.

She fanned herself to cool down the heat on her face; if she didn't go out soon, Chu Mingheng would leave on his own.

Leaving Longyu Pavilion leads to the palace road, but it's not long before you reach the Imperial Garden, which shows that Yilan Palace is indeed a wonderful place.

Lan Wu thought that Chu Mingheng meant he really meant he wanted to visit the Imperial Garden, but when they got near Xu Garden, he suddenly said that he would wait here.

There was a small pavilion over there, with tables and chairs set up inside. Soon, palace servants came over and served tea.

Lan Wu sat down next to Chu Mingheng, seemingly unaware of what was going on.

He said to wait, but wait for what?

Her mind wasn't completely blank; Lan Wu thought of something that hadn't been resolved yet.

Is Chu Mingheng going to bring people here to be punished?

A suspicious gaze fell down, but after looking for a long time, no one came.

It was dusk, the setting sun casting its light, and a cool breeze occasionally swept by, providing just the right amount of relief from the heat.

There are washed loquats on the table.

Lan Wu didn't like the palace servants peeling them for her, so she peeled them herself and ate them. She had just eaten two when she saw a figure hurrying towards her from the end of the road not far away.

The palace maid walked very fast, but she was clearly in a hurry, glancing left and right every now and then between steps.

The trees and flowers around here are so dense that passersby can't see the figures in the pavilion in the distance without looking carefully. By the time they get closer and see the people, it's too late.

Upon seeing who was sitting in the pavilion, the palace maid's legs went weak, and she almost collapsed.

Before the palace maid could quietly escape, the people in the pavilion had already spotted her sneaky figure and stepped forward to scold her: "How dare you! You dare not pay your respects when you are meeting His Majesty and the Empress."

Chen Kang'an said coldly, "Bring this strangely behaving palace servant here."

Lan Wu stopped peeling the loquat and stared intently at the palace maid.

Lianxi stepped forward and offered her a handkerchief to wipe her hands.

The palace maid looked guilty; she trembled all over when she was brought up and was very timid when she bowed.

Chu Mingheng turned his head to glance at Lan Wu.

The chair was large, but perhaps because it was outside and there were no other concubines around, Lan Wu didn't take the initiative to come up and sit next to him. Instead, she enthusiastically peeled loquats herself.

He reached out and pulled Lan Wu close, pressing her down to sit beside him. He was only slightly satisfied when they were close, but he was always one to keep his emotions hidden. He turned Lan Wu's surprised and bewildered face away, making her look at the palace maids below, and whispered in her ear, "Ask her yourself."

He told her to ask herself, so Lan Wu straightened her back, struck a pose, and asked the servants below, "Which palace do you belong to? What are you trying to do, acting so suspiciously!"

The palace maid didn't dare to raise her head, only kowtowing as she said, "Your Majesty, this servant...this servant is from Tingfeng Pavilion. This is...this servant was ordered by Her Majesty to pick flowers..."

Listening to the Wind Pavilion?

Lan Wu felt that the three words sounded familiar, and soon she remembered them.

Liu Shuyi, that crazy woman.

Liu Shuyi's rank was higher than hers.

Lan Wu glanced at Chu Mingheng with her head turned to the side.

Seeing that he remained silent, she made up her mind.

"Picking flowers?" Lan Wu looked at her suspiciously. "Why would you pick flowers so late at night? I think you're up to something."

"What's that bulging thing in your sleeve?"

Lan Wu was just trying to bluff her, but she didn't expect that after saying that, she would panic and clearly cover her arm.

There really is something there.

Before Lan Wu could speak, Chen Kang'an had already ordered two palace servants to search out the things she had hidden.

It was a package wrapped in a handkerchief and oil paper. When the palace servants opened it, they found some white powder inside.

Looking at these things, Lan Wu's expression was complicated.

Is it possible that Liu Shuyi, that crazy woman, became jealous of her just because she met her once that day? She's even willing to use this drug on her to ruin her.
